👉Thank you for taking the time to make this video for all of us (and for your own memories too, of course). Most people don't realize how much time and effort it takes to create something like this (cameras, mics, batteries, tripods/monopods, editing and splicing video footage, etc.). Much appreciated. It helped me realize that we'd need to devote a full day to visiting there and not just a quick trip, since we enjoy hiking as well. 👍

The girl from the end here 👋, there is a pretty scary part right at the beginning after the first set of chains ends. So you can always test it out before committing to the entire hike. If you can make it past the first chain gap you can likely do the rest.

If we do Seceda in the first part of the day, what other trail will you recommend for the 2-nd part of the day? Can Seceda be done in the same day with Sassolungo or is too much? Thank you 🙏
@trailtalestravel

Doing the full hike for both trails in one day would be quite a lot, and is not necessary. You definitely can do both in one day. However, you don’t need to do the whole trail on seceda to see everything, the best view is from the gondola station.

In 2 weeks we will go op Col Raiser again. We been there in 2007 with rain and a little of snow early September. Hope fpr better weather this time. We intend to climb to the Seceda, doing the same trip you did but with a cheaper starting point😂 it's 60 Euros vs 90.

Great video, enjoying your channel! We are headed to the area and looking for a good beginner via ferrata. Would you say this one is TOO easy? We don't have any real climbing experience (we did one guided via ferrata in New Zealand that was very easy) but are in good hiking shape. Don't love heights but don't freak out with them. Just wondering if you'd say this has at least a little "spice"/exposure or if most people around were just treating it as a regular hike.
@trailtalestravel
@trailtalestravel 4 ай бұрын
There were definitely some people doing it without any protective gear, the via ferrata section can be done without a harness if you aren’t afraid of heights. But I would recommend this trail anyway simply because it was so enjoyable. I would say a little spice was definitely there.

When clipping into a via ferrata, The gates for your carabiners should face opposite directions. This reduces the chances of accidentally disconnecting both of them at the same time.

@trailtalestravel
@trailtalestravel 4 ай бұрын
There is no camping inside the park, but we camped at Camping Königstein, which is about a 25 minute drive To the parking lot of the national park. There is also a campsite in Rathen, from which you can take a boat across the river and walk right into the park which you may find more convenient. Search “campingplatz” or “zeltwiese” in google maps and you’ll find some options.

There were people climbing with to their own gear in the middle section of the trail, we didn’t see any climbers at the top. Have a look at the hike in AllTrails, linked in the video description. You can see this particular trail only goes up to the falls, it doesn’t go higher. There are other trails that go higher up, but the starting point for them is different.

There are park rangers at the scout lookout trailhead and again at the start of Angels Landing trail. The fact that there aren’t too many people on the trail means the permit system is working. I also took care not to film too many people; showcasing the hike, not the hikers 😉

Can anyone recommend any levadas we can do from funchal. We can get bus to them but not by car as we're not hiring a car? We are in our 50s but quite fit so just want to experience 1 or 2.
@trailtalestravel
@trailtalestravel 7 ай бұрын
Regrettably most of the Levadas are not near where people live, so getting a bus directly to a trailhead is tough. I spent some time looking into this for you and didn’t see anything that jumped out. However, you can still enjoy this hike - you can take the 56 bus to Santana (about an hour from Funchal) and then take a taxi the rest of the way. It’s busy enough in the summer that you should have no difficulty in getting a taxi back to the bus stop for your return journey. The staff on site at Parque Florestal das Queimadas should also be able to help call one for you if needed.
