Thank you for posting this on KZbin. My ancestor was Christened in the church in the early 1800s. Living across the pond means difficulty with cost and accommodations. You have made this a rich experience for me and my family. Surname Prince

There is actually no reason why the English still celebrate festivals like this. When i walk through English cities and only see a handful of the most anxious white people, I know that England lost the war, just like the Germans.

I lived in Kersey in the late 70's & that turning spot at 0:42, by the church was where my sister parked her old Austin 58 before I drove it into Hadliegh & swapped it for a chinese at the takeaway in the High Street with a guy called Chris Stiff! The turning at 19:14 was where Hammond Innes lived - I believe it was the white house at 20:30. The building at 21:56 was owned by the Tarling family who had a working pottery. The orange house behind the blue van at 24:08 was where I lived with Dave & Frankie who ran a small restaurant called Quills in the white cottage behind the Land rover opposite The Bell pub. There was a pub called The White Horse, the last building you can see on the right hand of the street at 25:59 - it was like someones front room!

Andrew - Thanks for the info - Great Stuff. You certainly lived in a perfect spot right opposite the Bell inn which I recollect was 13th Century. That must have been some Chinese meal that you swapped your sister's car for - Is she still moaning at her loss? Cheers Mike Keeper

@@MikeKeeper Ha ha, yes my sister eventually got over it, as I recall, she 'borrowed' a £5 note never to be returned so she got the best deal! I've been back to Kersey a couple of times over the years but there's no sense of the community that once was. The new owners of the Bell had no idea of Quills restaurant or Ron Martin, who lived on the rh side as you faced the pub.. He was a master at restoring Sunbeam motorbikes & I used to spend many evenings in his workshop as he pottered around. he won prizes all over the country. The village shop was long gone as was The White Horse pub I mentioned. Still, as they say, time waits for no one. It was a period in my life that I'll never forget!
