In the late 60's and on into the mid 70's every AFB I was stationed at had Pedro for aircraft emergencies.. If I remember right they always carried a bottle of fire retardant and flew either beside or above the emergency.

Very well done cinematography! High quality but still retains a natural "being there" feel. However, what stands out most is the amazing audio quality! You can really hear the engines on those low passes! 💯

Planes of Fame Air Museum has a A26 that is a Korean War veteran. It was later used as a fire bomber and as a river sander in Alaska. They loaded the tank with a mixture of coal and sand and used it to control the ice breakup in the spring on the rivers. The coal would attract the heat to melt the ice. Sadly the aircraft in storage and not currently flying.

日本の爆撃機もだいたいがB25に近い感じだね。ただ、前輪式はB17を模した連山くらいだけど。

P 38 . Pure power. Little known fact is that Charles Lindbergh flew one and shot down a Japanese fighter . And significantly increased her fuel range relying upon his TransAtlantic flight. And she photographed about 90% of all allied aerial photos in World War Two thanks to her unparalleled stable flying

The new owner would be insane to move it to Arkansas. Would draw even half the numbers they get in Everett.

Yeah, but with the crap they are pulling here, I would bet the numbers in Arkansas would actually be better. They had 2 events this Spring called, "Amateur Photographer day" that they offered from noon to 4 PM on Wednesdays and charged a laughable $250! No engine runs, just static aircraft in their hangars. Their "membership" plan charges you a couple hundred dollars for a *discount* to general admission. Good riddance.

I use those to fly EMS. You don't see the waves racing out from the tops of the streaks anywhere else. It looks like they are on fire when it gets going good. It looks to me like the particles create the streaks, but there is energy released creating the waves racing upward. ,,,,I'm thinking, the ether? Because causality was better than believing.

Man, those goggles would have been awesome for this last storm! I will say, after the main storm had subsided, there was some faint activity overhead (for my location near Seattle) and with naked eye I could see those waves radiating and pulsating across the sky! It was absolutely wild to experience! Were you able to get out and see it Friday?

@@fight2flyphoto We had one flight where the first leg was away from it. The second leg was directly toward it, and it dominated our attention, where it's a wonder we didn't fly right by the hospital gawking at it.

Beautiful build. Engine choice may have been the best and most economical available, but it almost seems like an aberration to have anything but a P&W radial in a Gee Bee. The Wrights had good power-to-weight, but a much less pleasing exhaust note, what I call the Wright Thump. Hornets of 900hp are not very common today, and the equivalent P&W engine hp-wise would be the R-1830 which is a two-row engine which is unlikely to have fit in the application.
