Anyone who hasn't, listen to 'lost in a whirlpool'. Recorded on a tape deck when our two young heroes were still at school. For a 17 year old, Don's voice is amazing.

Zappa: one of the great and also most underrated electric guitarist of all time. Hear his use of waa-waa on Son Of Mr. Green Jeans on the same album. Like he is playing counterpoint to himself.

I bought this just after is came out in 69 and it still sounds as edgy and brilliant as it did then. Way ahead of its time. What an album, what a band.

It's a fine album, I first saw it as an advert for a new album way back in a music paper when I was a lad of just fifteen,, I'd never heard of Zappa before that, but I just knew I was going to love it, I eventually bought the album without even listening to it first, got it home, and played it, and boy I wasn't wrong, I loved it, and to my young ears it was something very different and quite unique. It's such a busy album. and all these years later I still haven't tired of listening to it.

Frank's music never gets old. in a Rolling Stone album reviiew book from 2003, they had 64 Zappa Albums lited, I was always curious how many I have heard or owned and it was 34, I thought that was pretty cool! That being said, this is one of his best!

Frank, sorry for having snubbed you. I had no idea what you were and I was too young to understand great musicianship. I was hooked on stupid pop, pop rock and other shit which I couldn't bear to listen nowadays.And to make things worst (for me) I'm a "Paesano tuo"..

I'm on my 60s now and only recently discovered Beefheart and Zappa. I was just a bit too young to be ready for them, then punk hit and idiots like me declared everything before the Sex Pistols old hat and not worth spending time on.
