The basic principles still hold true, but it’s now a lot easier to process information 💪🏻 Mostly because you can use the direct OpenAI module instead of having to do your own api call And you could skip the otter step by using the whisper API to transcribe the doc yourself ☺️

Excellent video, can you do a detailed video exactly how you set up getting the time taken to work. Can you have a pause. i.e you are working on something and you have to stop to help a colleague or take an important call.

Sure thing! I have a video here actually that explains two methods - Notion has a few new features that make implementing it a bit easier, but the basic principles (particularity for your use case) still hold true: Time-Tracking in Notion: 2 Best Methods in 2023 kzbin.info/www/bejne/pafQloGcqJmFac0

@@mfreihaendig Many thanks. From what I can see this is better than you previous video as the database buttons mean you do not need a separate "time entries" database, have I got that correct? If I was checking the time I spent on a task and I got interrupted or it took more than one work session could I start and stop the first period of work and then create sub tasks for further periods of work on that task and roll up the total time to the task record?
@mfreihaendig3 минут бұрын
@@Smaffs59 yes, you could use sub-tasks or use the approach with the separate time entries database. Either way, you can have an unlimited amount of work entries per task and calculate the sum

Hi Matthias! Great work! Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I like the business template. Is it possible to create a database for notes in the backend and limit users' access to their notes? If not, what would be a good workaround for a note taking system for individual users?
@mfreihaendig3 күн бұрын
Granular access rights is notions biggest weakness right now - basically, you can’t set easy rules to say „show these parts of the database, but not those“ So for a notes database, you could restrict access overall and then give access on an individual basis, but that’s quite cumbersome My recommendation in general would be: if possible, embrace transparency and encourage everyone to add notes to one central database - then, you can use filters and views to ensure everyone always only sees relevant information (just be aware that everything could be accessed) Or define several access levels and use this method here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHu8m5yjfqZnqNksi=0oCOKbENcR9YHyyX

Thank you! I'd definitely be interested in learning how to build a more robust time-tracking tool in notion. It would be great, if you could start and stop the time more often than once for each task. To do that, I am using another app (Toggl Track) at the moment but it consumes too much time to mediate the tasks between all the apps. My goal is to great a tool in notion to manage my tasks, time block my calendar with these tasks and track the time I actually need for each task.

I'm encountering errors with Multi-Select Fields/Collection Fields. Actually, it's not only for those multi-select fields but every field that has "ID", "Name" and "Color" (therefore comes with a tag). P.S.: I really need to use those since I have fields like "Types of Content" (where I multi-select them) and "Priority" where I should select one of those
@Maacholas17 күн бұрын
The operation failed with an error. [400] body failed validation. Fix one: body.properties.Priority.select.id should be defined, instead was `undefined`. body.properties.Priority.select.name should be a string, instead was `{"id":"mdZW","name":"Low","color":"blue"}`.

love the general idea but how would you manage tags that are specific to each database. Would you still create them as Select/multi select? E.g. ingredients, musical genres w. sub-genres (my own use-case for now) OR would you further develop a Global Master Tag database?
@mfreihaendig18 күн бұрын
You have two options there: 1) if you know that there is no way a tag would ever be used outside a single database, you can keep things simple and create them locally 2) you could still create them outside if you‘re unsure But as with all things Notion, nothing is set in stone. Try local, see how it goes and if you later need it elsewhere, you can just expand the system 💪🏻
