This is the only way I do my socks. When I try doing cuff down each I get all screwed up and end up ripping the whole thing out.

I am fascinated with dying yarn and fabric. I haven't moved beyond food colouring which is the safest option for someone who is clumsy and has very limited space! I love watching what other people come up with using different dyes. Thanks so much for sharing!
@NewLeafDesignsАй бұрын
@@ilovejack100 thank you so much! It's so fun isn't it. I totally agree that the more space you have the easier it gets (especially outdoors space where you can let the yarn hang out to dry and drip water). I'm very clumsy too, there were some moments where I wished the camera was rolling because it would have made people laugh 😂

@@NewLeafDesigns LOL, if I still lived in Holland we could make a yarn dying comedy episode together...too bad I'm in Canada now and too old to keep travelling. Time to stay put and watch you wonderful young folks make your amazing creations! I do love the colour combinations you made. I'm going to try fuscia and green in my next dye pot. I love Scheepjes yarn bases.

i have a straight knit stitch tank top to bind off on bottom hem, can I use this with just the knit portion? or is there a better bind off for stretch without flare for that? really want to finish up before summer is over,,,thank you
@NewLeafDesignsАй бұрын
Hi Laura! Great question. Does your tank top have any ribbing at the hem or is it only knit stitch? You could definitely just use the steps for knit sts of this cast on, although I would always recommend to add some kind of ribbed edge for a tank top.

I did this on the bottom of the No Frills sweater by PetiteKnit and it is perfect. I had to rip an in-pattern traditional bind off because it was too tight and this Twisty Bind Off saved the day. Great explanation and video!

Thank you, this border is pretty- and I can use it! Is there any reason you can think of that would prohibit me from making it a bit wider? For the dimensions of my blanket, the border needs to be 10 or 15 stitches wide. I'm supposing I could add stitches in the moss stitch pattern, and follow your directions for the first and last stitches on each right and wrong side row. Do you think that will work? Also, is it wise to use a smaller needle for the border so it doesn't get wavy?
@NewLeafDesigns2 ай бұрын
@@cmbergersct3492 thank you so much! Great questions. I think you could definitely make it wider. My border is 5 sts, so if you use an odd nr of sts as well that should be fine. I used the same needle size (and same yarn) as the main part of the blanket, which meant I picked up 2 sts for every 3 rows or something like that to keep it from waving. Using a smaller needle could help, but you would still need to skip a stitch every so often. Plus, it might make the border too rigid which means it folds in on itself. I'd give it a try on maybe 20cm of the border and see what it does.

2 good ways to remember what way to twist is 1) Follow the working yarn - If ur knitting ur yarns in back so twist ur tip towards it - If ur purling ur yarns in front so twist the needle towards it OR think if it as in a clock face - knitting is a "normal" stitch so go clockwise (like a clock goes forward in time) - purling is a " backwards" st so go anticlockwise (like a clock does if times going backwards)

Amazing package from Scheepjes! I love the idea of dying our own yarn as most Indie dyed is so expensive, even though it's worth it if you have the budget. I love all the yarn weights from DK down to lace. Sock making is my fun knitting so I would buy the fingering weight for sure. Can't wait to see what colours you use. Fuchsia is my obsession so I may have to try that! Thanks for podcasting!
