Hey Jason, Thanks so much for explaining and running us thru your phaser workflow. How would you store this phaser in, for instance, a song cue list? Would you apply it as a recipe again or store the preset into the cue itself?

Easiest way is to split the same effect containing both dim and PT in two separate cues with a 0 time trigger between them and a global fade applied on the cue containing dimmer information. Or you can use fade from a black color or you can have a higher priority temp cue with a off time released when you want that fade in to happen. Hope it makes sense.

First thank you so much for making this video. I love MA, but why does this all seem so complicated? On MA2 I could make an effect so easy and the key was it all made sense to me. I have asked ACT multiple times to please for the love of god make a video that just goes over each tool in the Phaser and when/why I would use them. They always say eh maybe and never do it. MA puts out 2-minute videos called "Let's make a cool effect" The head marketing dude (who is not an LD in any way) goes okay let's click this, let's click that okay now you have a cool effect. Im like cool, I have a cool effect I guess, no idea how I made it and forget about making a different effect. I don't get phasers, some people I know love them and will argue to their death it's the best thing ever. That's great for them, I don't get it and your video is one of the very few items I have found to help with this completely new effects engine. Does anyone know of an in-depth-look video of the phaser itself? Really feel it would have been cool for MA to be clear on this and make way more information available since phasers are one of the most changed items from MA2 to MA3.

Try going 100% recipe cues and phasers. I use universal base phasers with different width/transition as well as form. I switched my whole workflow into creating empty cues first and then filling them with recipies. I use double finger tap to edit and ctrlc/v to copy recipies. No cloning of any kind. Just creating correct groups and simple presets. Works like a charm so far.

This is one of the reasons I'm really having a hard time to having patience to learn MA3. So many steps to go through, only to do a simple thing.

Our colour images are not in order - for example - RED is first, so the macros are firing the correct colour on the light but the images are all off. (Yes I put the correct image number in)

Hey! What I normally would do is in the cue before is turn on the effect but change the high of the dimmer to 0. Or if you can’t start the effect in the cue before or if you need the effect to be on beat, add a cue labeled “BPM Grab” or something like that. Start the effect there with the high of the dimmer at 0 😊

two years ago I tried to watch this video and wasn't able to follow the squirrel around. Since then I have been plugging away at Lua, dabbed a bit into C, Have programmed a python/Excel balance the rig project. All from starting to learn Lua and program plugins for MA. Today T-day 2023 was just browsing and landed on this video and decided to watch and was not as lost as I was following the squirrel around. Where I thought after all this time I hadn't felt I was learning anything about coding. Am able to understand and now I want to get back into plugins for MA. Still come to realize during watching this video and looking in MA2/3 plugins on facebook, that I still don't know jack S about anything coding. My original goal was to program a plugin to automatically take a rig one by one and turn it on, P full, Tfull and next till the end of however many fixtures, which somehow turned into patching a dim channel on any amount of universes entered, at channel 512 and place the intensity to the level of that universe for troubleshooting purposes. Which I couldn't figure out how to create with no dimmers ever being patch in a new show file. Almost got there but then wound up doing a Roblox course to learn Lua better, which somehow landed me in C then some json, even swift. Python has been very not to say easy but easier to learn. So the squirrel in my head has finally after 2 years, has found where he was storing the acorns with Lua Plugins for MA. And maybe now I might be able to complete one of the ideas I had in the beginning. Watching your video and building that structure template is great especially cleaning up the garbage. I was thinking why not link to your "M class file", instead of copy and paste what works into what you are after on the current plugin, and realized 5000 lines of something you maybe only use 100 out of is wasted memory. I am planning on creating one of those as well and I must get better at commenting everything so I can read it and figure out what I was trying to do. I landed back on this video poking around ma-share.net plugins section again after 2 years. Thanks for the video which is great by the way, I have seen some of your stuff in the last couple years and inquired about one not to long ago. I am not a fan of the new way to edit plugins in MA3 and it is more confusing a lot like learning phasers. But it's what geeks like us do and keeps us moving on to build a better mouse trap.

I know I'm a bit behind on this video, but I managed to get this to work by simply having the fixtures mark running the same effect, but the "high" on the dimmer effect is set to zero. Pop it to the proper "high" value in the cue where it's running, and you'll have a clean fade in sync.

I am 13 minutes in, watching this video, and still I didn't get the basic flow. I think it would be better to start with the MOST SIMPLE example, a sequence with one cue. Adding an attribute to a preset. For example, I was assuming that I need to store and merge the new attribute to the preset before recasting, but it seems in this video that you are just loading the new attribute to the programmer and then recasting (and selecting the preset you want to update). Is that so? I think this is the first thing that should be obvious from the tutorial video. Like in MA3 Recast tutorial: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2janKWnj656na8 Otherwise, awesome plugin ! What about storing the Flyout in cue 1 thru, and then in cues you dont want the flyout to run, set the "High" valut on the Dimmer FX to 0, and store that in the cues with no flyout? - but i Agree, flyout in MA2 is a big pain....

Sick Yeah, re: not needing macros for every delay time, I also realised I can run executors to a rate master as another way to scale everything. So did that on my last show and had it work well.

Could you use cmd macro in the main stack to achieve the same eg - go exec 2; fader 2 at 100 fade 6
