After annealing, the effects of the t0 treatment should stick around for pretty much forever unless the metal is worked hardened or heated up

Yeah that would be sweet. We've considered it, but that's getting too close to offering loans. Our machinery is pretty affordable and readily sells on the used market, so that is as close as it will get to a rental (from us anyhow). -Joe

this is an excellent explanation! I wonder whether the return spring for the air piston is even strictly necessary. Probably for speed more than anything else. The little hat which opens on the 'top' side of the air piston also effectively reduces the surface area of the piston face and therefore the force with which the compressed air will act against that side while the hat is open, making the force acting on the 'bottom' side of the air piston larger, which should cause the piston to move with constant force proportional to the product of the area of the "hat" and the pressure of the air. This is, I'm given to understand, how constant force gas 'springs' work.

Yes an area imbalance would move the cylinder. The spring either moves it or speeds up the return!

Yeah, the $300k+ machines do these things ratios on tight radii a lot better/faster... but this was a fun experiment and wasn't expensive to try! -Joe

What about the rear plate? You mentioned the rear wheel transmission had a small plate on the back to allow it to be shorter...did you guy's just go with no plate?

I bought extra blocks and used my burring tool to relief the blocks so it's not a square edge. Had to work one pipe to fine the right amount of relief. Used it on aluminum and mild steel.

@@RogueFabrication kinda both, they are generally good for around 900lb ft of torque regardless of HP but explaining that really doesn't end up being funny 😂 N54 reaches 900lb ft usually between 1000-1100hp as a rough number. My E92 makes 900whp so I'm kinda walking the line here, it can handle it but not forever that's for sure. So yeah, for 400hp that trans will laugh at you but at 900 with a Spec twin disc I kinda worry grabbing 3rd at 6600rpm 😂

Yep. That's the idea. If you only have one or two roll bends, this works. If you do it daily or weekly, buy a roller 100% :) -Joe

How about a stepped blade / plate with a tube diameter profile cut out, to insert into the end of the pvc, to fixture and measure tube intersections?

Good idea. Having it touch the other tube, you just add the radius of the tube... but that is a nice little accessory to have :) we'll suggest it to Chassis Fab Parts.
