You have the best fundamental drills for young kids I've found on youtube. I and a few other coaches have to manage 40 4 year olds every saturday for the next 6 weeks or so. Definitely using all your drills. Thanks.

I don't know how I feel about squishy balls. When a young one gets hit with a hard ball it hurts but they have to get used to that if they want to progress.

Great job dad. I was told don’t even worry trying to get 4 year olds to throw. Our team was the only one at opening day throwing to 1st. But this is next level training! Kids are capable we just have to have higher expectations for them

This guy is an amazing coach, I used this teach my Daughter and now my son and I've been using every year for the past 3‐4 seasons as an assistant coach on my kiddos teams...currently 9U Girls Softball. I'll take the kiddos that are behind use and use this drill teach/correct the girls who where never really coached how to throw...I use it to break it back down to the basics and then start building them back up with good form, pinching shoulder blades together ect... Makes me feel good taking them from feeling like they don't belong to being able to hold there own...I'll pull them aside and say I promise you, if you'll try hard by the end of this you'll be able to catch and throw with anyone on this team..and they always have to this point.

@mr.sportscoach6965 Hello great video I've been Coaching over 30 years but this best I've seen. How did u make ball and string? Can u list exactly the materials and process. Ex length of string, thickness. My sister work at Home Depot that all I know lol. Thx
@mr.sportscoach6965
@mr.sportscoach6965 4 ай бұрын
@@btown94703 I didn’t measure the string. Long enough so there is a little slack when they hit the ball. About 6-8 ft. I used a practice wiffle ball and just made a knot inside it. I also used some thin rope. Thin enough that it can go through the ball to make a knot and strong enough that it will not break.

As a first time coach AND coaching 3-4 year olds, a big THANK YOU for doing these videos! You have helped me so much with practice planning, how to explain it so they understand and how to keep them engaged. I've been so anxious because I want to do right by the little ones and help develop their fundamentals. Again, thank you!

Great job, Coach. To have an actual Coach who can teach, and not just a person who talks is the most important thing for all kids. Athletes or non athletes should go through team leadership and accountability environments.

i like it. I highly respect you taking the time to help others teach baseball to tballers. The next generation is in good hands with more people like you. I have a bit of constructive criticism for what it's worth to you. I don't like the trap drill because when players catch the ball their glove is sideways in front of them most of the time and only high glove side catches will they have their glove held the way you had them holding theirs. So what i do is i have them place their throwing hand behind their back and i use a tennis ball to soft toss it and have them catch it with their glove hand bare handed. this teaches them glove orientation no matter the location of the throw, because as you know, you always want your palm facing the ball if you want the best chances of catching a ball. if they struggle holding onto the ball barehanded i tell them its ok as long as it hits their hand and not them. once they get a few good reps in with that i have them put their glove on and do the same thing. I explain to them the glove is the same as their hand and if they act like their glove is their hand theyll always have the best chances of catching the ball. once they get it down from a soft toss i back up a little bit and challenge them to longer throws. Then i'll have them add their throwing hand to help secure the ball, either helping squeeze the glove or coming over the front of the glove to secure the ball. So basically the drill you showed i think will build bad habits you'll have to break later on. Teaching youngins like that to hold their glove the right way is the hardest part of teaching tball. the fact you have a drill to help them with that means you truly care about teaching baseball the right way and help them stay safe by using their glove the right way. I respect it! Take care
