As I understand it, Jenny's tale is based on a true story. Ren read about it and was upset about the statement, "it's such a shame". For him, that phrase just didn't hold the meaning it needed. Too often used and is loosing it's meaning, thus, the rest of the Tales were created to make the throw away line, "It's such a shame" actually hold water. PS not all his songs are heavy but maybe we need a Kleenex emoji for requests of his heavier songs <GRIN>

Even when you listen to the song after the first time, you recognize Ren's brilliance. Jenny, "she wanted to escape, can you blame?". There was no escape from the cycle of violence, except through death, and we as society should do a better job helping them escape.

100% hands down the best reaction to this. Ren is out of this world. Talent plus. Your reaction to this piece of art is absolutely my favourite reaction to jenny and screech. Just your emotional expressions, i felt your,,, reaction the whole way, like it was my first time watching it again. You are an amazing lady. I'll be following your reactions. I was born in the 70's grew up in 80's-90's.... Violet's story.... It is so real. Much ❤️ and respect your way 💯 take care. Im going to check out other reactions of yours. Welcome to the Ren rabbit hole 👌

Nice reaction. I see so many people going into the first Tale thinking it is upbeat and uplifting only to find out how cruel the story is. However, it is an expose on society and generational violence. We can easily INFER so many missing elements to the storyline which opens our imagination. Ren is pure genius.

Thank you. Only the first part was based on a true story, The rest was Ren's creation. Violet's Tale is probably the hardest song to get through for many of us.

Ren don't play with instruments, Ren play with our feelings. As a 52 years old man that was sexually and psychically abused as a child, the Tales is a rough journey but it needs to be told.

I'm sorry to hear you had to go through what you did. No one should have to deal with that. Glad you are here now! Ren is so relatable because his music touches on so many universal themes. Whether it's mental health, generational domestic violence, self image, or sui*ide he shines a light that few artists do with such feeling. He has a huge catalog of music in many styles as well as awesome collaborations and also his former bands. Your on a wonderful journey and I'm happy to travel with you! Great reaction! Be peace

Not exactly based on a true story. Ren read a newspaper article about the killing of a young girl in London and at the end of the piece the reporter said "it's such a shame"? Ren thought REALLY, that's the best you can up with? Hence . . . This trilogy. You are rapidly turning into my favorite reactor. I focused on your face, which is pretty and your eyes, which are even prettier, you didn't need to say much? Was all right there to see. Your nose/nostrils become red as you get more emotional, did you know that? Sick Boi next? Then you will start to understand Ren's condition?

Sending love to you. Well done for looking after yourself with that walk around the block. Violet's tale is so intense. I think just Jenny's tale came from a true story in a newspaper, and then Screech and Violet were from Ren's imagination, but they are true in the sense that this type of story of generational trauma is all too common. If you want an uplifting Ren track next, try Love Music, Ready for you or Power (which deals with some difficult stuff in very positive way).

Great reaction, so honest! Regarding Ren's songs, almost everybody starts with Hi Ren and then that one. These hit so deep. But all other songs are so different to each other and so multilayered, that you will be almost every time not know what to expect. Skål

Fantastic reaction! Subbed. Like you, I don't listen to much modern music. There comes from time to time though, a talent that shines through the murk. Ren is one such talent. Aussie singer/songwriter Jeff Lang is another, as are the Aussie blues/soul band, The Teskey Brothers. If you want to listen to something you can feel, The Teskey Brothers - Rain - A Colors Show will definitely take you there.
