2 questions: 1) why wrap the top of the bar in a right hand orientation (the direction the fingers will curl when holding the bar), wouldn't this make the tape tend towards unraveling on the tops? 2) why only apply the finishing tape to the bar tape, and not the handlebars as well?

I've just watched a LOT of this kind of videos of how to wrap your bike's handlebar. This one is the best.
@mantas98272 ай бұрын
Changed both sides while referring to this video, after the first side the other is way easier. But overall it's not that hard! You can make a lot of mistakes and re-wrap a lot of times, it sticks just fine. One thing not stressed enough in the video is how hard you actually have to pull the tape so there are no gaps at the back way easier. The hardest part was the start for me when i wrapped my first side.

You are wrapping the wrong way on top of the bar. Always wrap towards you on top.

the cutting is genius. but wondering why many tutorial including this one wrapping the top section with direction outward instead of inward to the rider? won't it come loose with hand twisting motion?

how many meters is the length of tape for one side of the handle ?

The tops are wrapped in a sub-optimal direction. They should be wrapped the other direction so the tape tightens, rather than loosens, when the wrists rotate during the ride.

Whenever I tackle a job on the bike, I look at a few youtube clips to get the various methods. This clip was the fifth I watched and when I got to the end I realised that it captured all the important points and I suggest that if you only have time for one clip, then this is easily the best. And, by way of coincidence, I'm fitting a supacaz tape!

He failed to mention that you wrap in the direction of slip. That means the bottom right is wrapped clockwise and the left is counter clockwise. The top bar is wrapped in the same direction for both left and right, towards you.

shouldn't the order of the top bar tap be reversed?

How does this compare to the Cannondale Synapse Hi-Mod (not thenew model). Im referung to the one you have for lon-term review few years ago, the one you loved so much 😉. Is it better and how so?

This one seems to get more things wrong than right. Direction of tape on the drops is debatable - but across the tops should always be towards the rider. Electrical tape to secure cables is okay if you're in a rush that's all you've got, but it's much better to use a non-stretchy tape to keep the cables tight to the bars and to stop them moving around underneath the bar tape. You should try to finish the wrap underneath the bars, not on top. It's much neater, and it's less likely to get caught on things and start to unravel that way.

Why do all these videos, and they are always from non-pro mechanics, teach people to wrap the bars in the wrong direction, you wrap toward the frame not away. If you want to see how to wrap them correctly, here is a video of a pro mechanic wrapping Peter Sagan's bars with Supacaz tape. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHjHgYF7odF8isk

just by the thumbnail, the wrap is in the wrong direction on the tops. wrap towards the rider on the tops, and outward away from the bike on the bottoms.

This bike was really easy to assemble kzbin.infoUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.

Start at the top and work down..Just dont get it. No fiddly cutting, No crappy looking sticky tape, also the hbar tape works with you instead of against you while wrapping. Trust me it works and looks way way better. oh, doesnt unwrap while climbing if you wrap towards you.

How do you stretch the bling type? The material is so different and I could hardly stretch it alas the installation is no where near this. I’m sure supacaz has tested this material before selling it.

This worked great! I do wish there was a replay of the figure eight for the other side, though. Hard to know if it should be mirror or what. All the same, turned out great and I have sent this link to friends. I bought a used bike and whoever wrapped the handlebars didn't know about the hoods having places to snap in!

Two point cut technique at the end is genius. Nothing more frustrating than doing a good wrap to that point and then messing up the finishing cut. For a job that most home mechanics do once a year it's a great tip to get the perfect finish. Personally I prefer the tape to end on the bottom of the bars but that's tricky to do without a strong workstand. Wrapping only the tape and not the bars with the finishing strip is also a good tip, as long as the core of the tape matches the outside.
@supermanxs2 жыл бұрын
Nice tape and technique is fine but direction of wrap is backwards.
