Something went seriously bad with the mainline as it was Metrolinx’s first big project and they did not have the expertise/qualifications to build it. Crosslinx, the consortium they got to design and build made numerous errors throughout construction and the Ford government does not want these mistakes to be released to the public as they are likely very serious mistakes. The people building other metrolinx projects (GO Expansion, Ontario Line, Finch West, and Eg West Extension) are better organized and more qualified than crosslinx, hence the noticeably improved progress on these projects. Unfourtunately Metrolinx is on orders from the Ford government to keep quiet about this problems with the crosstown. The Eglinton West LRT will likely not be hyper-delayed as there are much more competent and experienced people who designed and are constructing it. You can see that’s the case by the fact that the finch West LRT is being delivered on time (the delay of one year from the pandemic is to be expected).

@@jasoncw455 I don’t buy that. My opinion is that Ford is vengeful and getting his “payback” on Toronto for not going with their plan from the beginning. If there was any opportunity to make the previous government look bad, they would be all over it. The line’s construction is finished, and they’re using “software” as a reason to continue the delays. Verster got a huge raise to keep quiet and play along. Mark my words and screenshot this message. If Ford loses the next election we will learn the truth.
