I have owned three German shepherds. I want a Rottie, but I will have grandchildren on the way in the next few years. I have lots of room for a big dog. It is between the Rottie and the Bull Mastiff. Not wild about the drooling of the Mastiff, and the Rottie is cuter. Suggestion?

Am going to be getting a pup, and I see what you said about setting your phone alarm for every hour for potty training, but does that mean every hour during my sleep as well??

I adopted a Rottie/DDB mastiff when he was 3, I lost him last week and I've got a huge hole in my world. He was my ginger juggernaut, and SUCH a polite boy (you could leave a bag of opened treats on the stairs in front of him and know when you came back that they'd still be there with a salivating dog staring at them). He was perfect with kids, loved all people and was fine as long as a responsible introduction to other dogs was given. If a random dog came over in the dog park it could be WW3 though 😂 In the end i just used to go for long walks out in the forest/valleys near me. He was a real snuggle bug too when the sun was setting. We saw a lot of beautiful sunsets together. I think in time I'll get a Rottie, they're good dogs ♥️

What I done is put my pup's crate next to the bed and let my fingers hang in it from the side all night. Every once in a while, I would hear a whimper, then would feel a sniff and lick on my hand. It was like a security blanket for her. I believe that it also got her used to my smell and in the future it made her closer and more responsive to me talking. Don't know if others have done this but have to say it worked great for me.

We have both a male and female Rottweiler nine years old now. The female is much more independent and head strong. The male chose me as his "person" and is eager to please. The female you can see her considering every command "what's in it for me?" Both highly intelligent always thinking

I love how cute they're, but i decided against having one since i'm not very confident and i'm small with leg problems which could make training difficult.

Hi there, I have a male, intact, (long haired) rotty who is the love of my life. He is going on 3 pretty soon. He is a very good family dog but he has shown aggression to others more than once. My new neighbours moved in and my dog didn't like them from day one, often times fighting at the fence with their male dog who's almost the same age, then one day my dog got out of the yard when he saw my neighbour out walking his dog and my dog got into a fight with his dog, while his dog was on the leash. My neighbour bore 7 stitches in his hand although we dont know which dog bit him. Then again a second time my dog got out and went after him while he was walking his dog and that time he bore 14 stitches in his hand. My partner moved into my house with me, where I have lived for 16 years. I bought this dog from my sister who also has rotties. My dog has often looked at my partner as his master and not me. When I walk my dog, he does not look at me, nor does he heel. When I try to discipline him on walks he turns his head away from me and wont look at me, but when we are at home he is so well behaved. What can I do about this?

I have a 6 yo Rott, named Maximus. AKC Registered, 30.5" at the wither, and weigh's 152lbs. Still bounces around like a 6 month old puppy. Moves large furniture with no problem. You can hear his bark a block away. Looks like a small bear, but he's a gentle giant. Best breed ever.

How much space they need in the house? I have seen them being kept in a very small pen for most of the day and just get out to go to the vets and go for their necessities. I felt bad for them and I would never own one. They are so strong and big. I had a cockapoo and it was handful.

I’ve had 2 males in my lifetime and it takes serious dedication and knowledge on raising a Rottweiler and in the next few months I’ll be getting another male. I truly love the breed and they need to know their place in the family hierarchy

The way you treat the dog means 90% of the dog's behavior. But there is that 10% that is breed specific that owners must understand and master. Owners must understand the psychology of dogs and the specific breed thoroughly.

Such great information. Thank you!. I got two female puppies from the same litter. Some people keep telling me that's a bad thing. But they do everything together. And I love them both. I don't want to get rid of one. I've never had a Rottweiler before but I've had big dogs before and I just love these dogs.❤ Your dog is so well behaved. Great job!

Can anyone help me out. The dog at 1:29 is absolutely beautiful. I have considered getting a Rottweiler in the future, but I hate how a lot of them have started to adopt a lot of mastiff/bulldog features in the face. Are there known lines for a look similar to hers (with a good temperament as well obviously)

Rotties are great with children. You want to bring them up together. My Rottie loved my son. And would listen to his commands. But I would not bring a full grown Rottweiler into my home. Get them as a pup because you have to socialize them which is a must. They do need their minds stimulated, they are a working breed of dog who is very strong, physically, and mentally. They need a lot of exercise. It is best if you have your own home with a big fenced in yard. They learn very quickly. Training is a MUST. SO Be ready to put in the hours of work. All this said with good obedience training and socialization you will have a great Rottweiler for life.

You talk about having a stable do by socializing etc then why the hell are you having a rottie with a mask on portraying it as viscious? the bug guy is too tough with it he triggers it by over scratching and stimulating it
