I’m confused. I took the rear differential from my slash ultimate. Installed in the mini maxx rear. And it’s not correct. Do I need to replace the ring gear on the diff for it to work?

You will need to replace the ring and pinion with TRA6779(xl-5 ring and pinion non VXL) (47t ring and 12t pinion)as the VXL diffs are a different ring and pinion tooth count. We did another video on a full walk through on building a complete diff and all of the parts needed as well.

Sadly the VXL also comes with the slipper clutch out of the box but both models can you the optional center diff

The stock flex shaft size is 4.7mm which is slightly smaller than 3/16 (4.763mm) but they do offer a new HD part as well - TRA10329 which is now supposed to be 5mm! From the tip of the hull to the rudder is 40.80" but the hull itself is right around 36" long

I was so looking forward to this car. Even years before it was released I was hoping they would make a mini sized Maxx. But they dropped the ball on this one. It has too many problems and not at all durable like Traxxas’ previous vehicles. Blown diffs, chassis breaking, body keeps coming off, garbage electronics, etc, etc, etc. and then on top of all this, what do they do? They raise the price. A wltoys or Mjx hypergo is leaps and bounds better than this at 1/4th the price.

I hear stripping gear in hard acceleration on mine. But the spur gear is top shape. Is it the rear diff problem ? Only run about 45 min on 2s lipo.

I put on the wheel hubs, jato tires, and rustler wing on today. I also put in the VXL 3s. This is how the stock mini max should have come! I need a wheelie bar now.

We haven't seen to many people try the steel Spartan SR prop (TRA5733R), as both come with the same TRA5733 plastic prop installed. on the Disruptor yet but currently Traxxas is not recommending people to put them on as there could be to much deflection with the plastic rudder mount causing the prop to hit the rudder.

Thanks for the comment, yes the BL-2S will have forward, reverse and brakes if that is the mode you have your ESC set in. If you don’t have reverse we would recommend to re program the end points on the esc and ensure the esc is not in race mode as that mode will lock out the reverse

With the Tq transmitter sadly you can only bind one receiver to the transmitter. With the Tqi transmitter you can bind multiple receivers to the transmitter and it will remember the model

Got this for Christmas, took it to the park and it's completely caked in mud on the inside of the shell. It definitely needs inner wheel arch mud catching things, inner fenders for USA English. I can't see any Traxxas addons or any aftermarket inner wheel arches/inner fenders. Anyone know of any?

Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! The best thing we have found for any of the short course trucks is the Dusty Motors dust covers. It will still allow the electronics to breathe as the dust cover is mesh but it will keep the vast majority of things out of the chassis for easy cleanup. They will also put a zipper down the center of the dust cover to make battery changes quick and easy, so you do not have to undo the velcro down the side of the chassis. Unfortunately the Rustler 4x4 will be the shortest center shaft available as of right now until the correct one for the truck gets released by Traxxas to fit the center diff or slipper clutch. Both the center diff and slipper clutch will require the same shorter center driveshaft shaft.

@ on the Traxxas website under the center diff it says use either 10757 or 10762 which are the standered size plastic and metal drive shafts. So it’s a little confusing?

@@WM84629 There are 2 parts required if you do not do the diff mod we talk about in this video, we did not have to use TRA10762 as the pinion from the XL-5 diffs allows us to use the double flat spotted shaft from the slipper clutch or center diff. The parts Traxxas needs you to upgrade to go to either the slipper clutch or center diff are the following - TRA10757 - plastic center driveshaft or TRA10757X - metal center driveshaft TRA10762 - rear pinion that allows the normal style double flat spotted shaft from the slipper or the center diff which the Mini Maxx doesn't use with the out of the box direct drive setup

I have a brushless Traxxas Rustler 4x4. I took the brushless 3s system out of it along with front and rear diffs put it all in my Mini Maxx. Was a direct swap. That Rustler was sitting on a shelf for quite a while. I've been meaning to fix it but I never got around to fixing all the broken stuff on it so it worked out for the Mini Maxx. I didn't take the slipper clutch out and use it though. I never use slipper clutches I always tighten them right up anyway. A center diff would be cool though.

I have a question your parts list show 2 sets of rear diff gears but the front pinion gear does not match the rear pinion did you reuse stock pinion on the front diff? My front pinion where the drive shaft slides on sheered off somehow so no reusing mine but just looking for little more clarification

Yes we have to reuse the front pinion that comes on the stock truck as unfortunately nothing in the Traxxas lineup will use that style pinion or driveshaft setup

These dimensions wont be on the product pages or website.. We took a digital caliper and physically measured the outside diameter of a 54 tooth, 52 tooth, 50 tooth 32 pitch spur and found that all of these measured too big to fit in the chassis.. using the stock mini maxx 47 tooth spur was our benchmark to compare the maximum size that we could dimensionally fit in the chassis.. So our only other option was to look at mod 1 gearing from the revo. We measured the 40 tooth mod 1 revo gears and found that it was also too big and worked our way down till the 38 tooth mod 1 spur and that had a small enough dimensional measurement to fit in the chassis without rubbing.. We then sized a 16 tooth pinion that would get us pretty much in the same ballpark as the stock 20/47 gear ratio and the results are as you see them on the video.. Enjoy!!!

Seeing Talbots video where the motormount broke off during bashing was a bit of a letdown, but it really got a beating during that jump tho. But the motor mount seems to likely be a problem during bashing, i aslo dont like the way they covered the pinion so its hard to get the proper mesh

We thought the same thing as well as on most sites they say bevel gear, but at one time on the Traxxas website it mentioned in the description that it still uses the planetary gears inside. It however looks like they have changed that description so it may have changed (fingers crossed it did), but we haven't received any parts here in Canada yet so we cannot confirm or deny the change.

Learned my lesaon with the 6s X-maxx that too had diff issues. All these issues with the mini maxx made me decide to wait to grab one that comes up on marketplace in a few weeks after Christmas. They're not worth the 269.99 they're selling them for and the more people who buy them the more this will happen.

I figured this out the instant i saw the 10scale drive train they promoted with it and since the gears on the maxx are similar of that to an erevo so is the xo-1 to the slash and them just promoting the 10scale is because the 10scale gears they would use would be the same one for their own 10scale diffs

It’s been a long time since I was in the hobby (my last truck was the T-Maxx TRX 2.5 which I still own). What is the purpose/ benefits of the slipper clutch in this setup? I genuinely am unaware. Not sure why Traxxas didn’t just do this from the beginning, they could have used parts they already had. Instead they spent R&D inferior parts and ticked off a lot of their customers with misleading advertising.
