We 100% agree, this is for sure not the ideal situation by any means on something brand new out of the box. But we are hoping this helps to keep people up and running with there new Mini Maxx and keep them having fun in the hobby.

I agree, this car has turned out to be one big lie from Traxxas. Im truely disappointed with Traxxas on this, and i like Traxxas. Several years of hoping and waiting for a mini Maxx down the drain for me. Im suspecting they will come out with a vxl version that will cost probaly more than double of this

Would the 40t spur fit instead of the 38t ?

With the overall dimension of the 40t spur being bigger than the 47t stock spur we felt it would rub the chassis and possibly cause other issues

These dimensions wont be on the product pages or website.. We took a digital caliper and physically measured the outside diameter of a 54 tooth, 52 tooth, 50 tooth 32 pitch spur and found that all of these measured too big to fit in the chassis.. using the stock mini maxx 47 tooth spur was our benchmark to compare the maximum size that we could dimensionally fit in the chassis.. So our only other option was to look at mod 1 gearing from the revo. We measured the 40 tooth mod 1 revo gears and found that it was also too big and worked our way down till the 38 tooth mod 1 spur and that had a small enough dimensional measurement to fit in the chassis without rubbing.. We then sized a 16 tooth pinion that would get us pretty much in the same ballpark as the stock 20/47 gear ratio and the results are as you see them on the video.. Enjoy!!!

I figured this out the instant i saw the 10scale drive train they promoted with it and since the gears on the maxx are similar of that to an erevo so is the xo-1 to the slash and them just promoting the 10scale is because the 10scale gears they would use would be the same one for their own 10scale diffs

Learned my lesaon with the 6s X-maxx that too had diff issues. All these issues with the mini maxx made me decide to wait to grab one that comes up on marketplace in a few weeks after Christmas. They're not worth the 269.99 they're selling them for and the more people who buy them the more this will happen.

We thought the same thing as well as on most sites they say bevel gear, but at one time on the Traxxas website it mentioned in the description that it still uses the planetary gears inside. It however looks like they have changed that description so it may have changed (fingers crossed it did), but we haven't received any parts here in Canada yet so we cannot confirm or deny the change.

Seeing Talbots video where the motormount broke off during bashing was a bit of a letdown, but it really got a beating during that jump tho. But the motor mount seems to likely be a problem during bashing, i aslo dont like the way they covered the pinion so its hard to get the proper mesh

So really this truck costs £330 after you fix the diffs, and you still need to add the motor and esc for 3S. Just buy a MT10 and save your money.

FYI you don’t have to install the center piece,that’s specific to the X01 and not used on other models that use this diff.

How about you take the shims out put the top cover on then try and move it back and fourth the top cover locks it in your doing that for no reason

You could go that route as well just need to change over the ring gear as the normal VXL ring gear makes the mesh too tight as well as you need to retain the front pinion as no other truck in the 1/10 4x4 line up doesn’t use that style pinion

Not sure why Traxxas didn’t just do this from the beginning, they could have used parts they already had. Instead they spent R&D inferior parts and ticked off a lot of their customers with misleading advertising.
