i think one idea could be AI carriers being added to EC maybe as a objected that shows up and it moves around spawning in ai fighters in waves, we have something simular in sim air mode where attacker aircraft will spawn to go attack a location and players have to go intercept them.

We do have something similar in EC, where you have a carrier roaming around that needs to be detected and destroyed by the enemy team. It doesn't spawn fighters or attackers though.

The problem with the AI in those single battles is that they'll go after the first enemy they see. You have no control of them, they are just there to be there. So they'll need work. They can strafe, dogfight, bomb and make torpedo runs but they're not that good. As mentioned before the maps don't work for them outside of EC. Its worse for carriers than you think. Carriers are fragile as fuck. They're just giant floating ammo racks waiting to happen. In fact take all the carriers ever sunk and look at how many have exploded. Its a huge proportion of them. With Gaijin's totally amazing damage modelling I bet the frunze would kill one with her guns. If not a complete explosion its damage to your top sides and aircraft as well massive crew losses. That alone is killing the idea off. They also need to work in a sense that they are simple and flexible. Im a little unsure on how to do this. If they do come they need to be very simple carriers. Like Im talking HMS Hermes or Zuiho levels. Small and simple, just to see what happens. With fixed aircraft types and payloads just to see what happens. besides there are other types of warships I wanna see in game over carriers.

For sure the AI is not the greatest, but they can be modeled to follow marked targets so with little tweaking they won't be just a visual addition or a cannon fodder. What we could do is to have something you suggested so an event with a small carriers just like what we had with submarines. To test the waters. I am afraid of implementation of carriers but at the same time I'm hopeful they make them right from the get go with little to no rework. EC implementation could work simply because players there are more willing to cooperate and organize themselves in natural task forces.

I think they could work if you make them "RTS", you could point in the map the place you want your planes to attack and let them be controlled by AI like in air battles.

If so then first setting a waypoint would need to include later marking a target for them, most likely just like you can now mark a target for your AI controlled guns. Not a bad idea with the RTS-ish approach. It could be worth it implementing a way of being able to "see" the aircraft's perspective without controlling them, to as previously mentioned, target ships for attack.

I have two things in my mind for carriers: First is that I want Carriers to be unlockable, grindable, tech tree vehicles, I sometimes want to jump into a game just goofing around with them, not having to play EC for 1-2 hours, only to then get unlucky and not being able to spawn in with the carrier. I want to do Custom games, playing as a CV, Customize my ship, etc. The second thing is locking specific aircraft for Carriers. I propose the idea that to begin researching Carriers, you first need to unlock certain Aircraft in your Air tree, or every carrier should have a certain few 3-4 planes as a default set, but you can change them to ANY Aircraft you have unlocked. I'd even go as far as being able to use landplanes, but with the difficulity of having nearly no way to recover them. At the hangar, you can set your desired aircraft similarly to suspended armament customization for planes, then you'd be able to choose a preset, and then you set the amount you take of them, and their priority, like you do with Ammunition in a Tank. For example, let's say, I play with my beloved Kaga, so I, while her default aircraft are the A6M2 mod22, the D3A and the B6N2, go to the custom plane preset menu, and set up the A7M2, the D4Y3, the B6N2, and the P1Y1(Notice, it's a landplane). I queued into a game, I found a match, Now I select my preset of aircraft, and say, I take 2 P1Y1s at the first priority, meaning they will sit on the forefront of the deckparking planes. They are big planes, so they take up a lot of space, so I can't take all 90 aircraft, which is Kaga's capacity, I can only take less, since the two bombers take up a lot of deck space. I still have wiggle room on how much aircraft I take from the rest of the set up, and how I'll position them, what goes into the hangars, and what stays on the deck. I have spawned in, (and this time, even though I love bullying unsuspecting DDs with the 200mm Casemates, today we are grinding the Shinano, so we need to maximize our rp gain.) So I pull up the Squadron Preparation menu with a key, and select my P1Y1s, arm them both with 2 500kg bombs, and select 3 A7M2 Reppus to escort them, in case anything happens. I choose one of the P1Y1s for the leader, and begin setting up. This would take a few seconds, and then the game would tell me what I need to do: In this case, we are taking off with Bombers, which are large, so the game tells me to turn into the headwind, after wich I can initiate the take-off, I take controll of the squadron leader I designated, and I'd take off, with the other aircraft, like in single player missions, following me a bit behind. With a key, like ALT+M, or whatever you set up, I can open the tactical map, on which I can give directions to either the Carrier, or a squadron I don't controll, I can also split up my squadron (This is a suprise tool, that will help us later) I can tell Kaga to keep moving to a set point, while I carry out the attack with the bombers. I reach my target, and let's say we got away with the attack. Now I can't land the Bombers back on Kaga, so I set off to land them on the airstrip. then I split up the squadron, land the Bombers, and since Kaga's deck is still full, I'll let the fighters keep flying at a higher altitude, near Kaga. Now I see somebody spawning with a Pe-8, so I return my control to Kaga, set up a new squadron of fighters, merge them with the A7Ms already in the air, and I'll go to intercept the Pe-8. Meanwhile, I can set up another squadron of D4Y3 Dive bombers, and send them out towards the side of the map for a flank attack. And of course, matches take more time, etc, let's just assume Naval is fixed, in 10 minutes, I can assert pressure at nearly all points of the map. This takes a lot of practice, and strategic thinking, patience, in general a lot of dedication to juggle the act of being a moving airfield. Plus I'd have to manually land my aircraft back on Kaga, if they need refueling or rearming. I also need to juggle Kaga herself, as she may get intercepted by an enemy ship, and I'll need to fight them as well. I'd change AA on ships with one single change, and that's that you need to Mark targets for them, so you're not just permanently, automatically defended from any and all air attacks, but you actually have to do the bare minimum, and if you phase out, or tunnel vision too hard, you will suffer the consicquences, but if you don't, you will get those juicy "Aircraft Destroyed" payouts. And if a Destroyer really dares to get through the map, I'll just fucking blast their ass to oblivion with 200mm-s of unnecessary destructive force.

very interesting idea, but if that the case we need to make the maps bigger like in naval battle which often take a very long time to play and people quite often get bored with it, especially those slow moving ww1 battleship that have no aa and no destroyers willingly escort them. Therefore result in less people want to play naval battle to eat bombs and torps for the entire of the game. However your idea is very good, can add some scout planes too ( function like drone in ground battle ) ( i think that get rid of the name tag like simulator battle would make you idea works ).

That's a very interesting idea. To the point that you could post this on forum and it would be included into "Passed to developers". I like the idea of wiggling a little bit with aircraft loadout, but I'd say keep the more incompatible like aforementioned P1Y etc. to arcade battles, while saving strictly aircrafts historically available for carriers, most likely as a modification upgrade that you can switch in or out in custom loadouts, for example with Kaga it would be only a switch from A6M2 to A6M5 or D3A1 to D4Y4. Something like that. Otherwise the idea of marking planes for AA is a very good one, so that players won't just mindlessly wander with no worries, but make it an engaging mechanic.

There's a lot of problems with this. Firat is map design. Who's not to say that you spawn in your carrier only to get sniped by a battleship from the otherside of the map? Good luck telling Gaijin to fix that. Second is the fact that this is a very complex way to play carriers. Having to queue aircraft and manage their payloads. Then having different aircraft in the same flight then telling your carrier to do shit mid flight its just a pain in the arse to play. Especially if you play on console where you simply don't have enough buttons for anything. You also have to use AI more for your aircraft and carrier. How do you know they're gonna fuck up? Its just a lot to manage and I get it, carriers I just like that but a simpler approach is needed. I question if carriers would even work at all. As a researchable ship class sure even just to good around with in custom battles.

I really don’t think carriers would work for Naval in War Thunder. If we were to base such carriers off of the carriers in World of Warships they’d suck and be very hard to implement properly. In WoW, planes from carriers act in coordination without any flaws. It’s as if the squadron of planes have a hive mind they way they fly in such synchronicity. War Thunder on the other hand is about independence for its planes. If carriers were to be implemented, a whole group of players would have to fly in unison while one player is stuck playing a glorified mobile base with SPAA. SPAA in naval is nothing like SPAA in ground combat. You can’t just shoot your AA guns against ships that often have meters of thick armor. It’d be like trying to fight a tank with a BB gun. I also don’t trust players to be able to fly in such perfect unison. I do however think carriers could potentially work if they were instead just spawn points for players or if you the player controlled groups of planes either like how you can in WoW or something more like an RTS game.

The answer for Naval I feel is to abandon the current game play that is AB/RB matches on maps that are entirely too small and improve on Naval Sim EC. In Naval EC you have plenty of room to operate with lots of task. This would also allow for things like CVs and Submarines to brought into the game immediately . First they would have to open it up to 7 days a week, then get rid of the ridiculous you have to X amount to get a better ship mess. They would also have to make Naval EC count for events and BP. Or!! lets merge air sim and Naval EC together and that would fix every problem almost instantly and increase the player base tenfold. Either way the unavoidable fact is that Submarines and Aircraft Carriers will eventually have to come into this game in some compacity, if they intend on keeping up with competition like World of Warships otherwise they will continue steeling their players. Lets also add that there are lots of folks who want to, but will NOT play this game because they wont unfck Naval and add these two vehicles into the game.

It is unavoidable and I know Gaijin will add them to snatch the WoWs audience that are disappointed in the game. Naval EC as a permanent mode is a good idea. SP system isn't that bad, it just needs slight changes like the amount you need to grind for a better ship. Air and Naval combined is something I can get behind. It would even add more tasks for both air and navy. Using EC as a test bed for new types of vehicles and missions is a good thinking. With the normal Naval modes I'd say I'd like to see rework of maps and modes to instead use tasks from EC like escort/attack on convoys, base capture etc.

bruh its always one or 2 maps. one or 2 dudes per teams brings a PT boat rushes A/B cap and essently win the game for the team who brought more PT boats. then you got the games where its legit 4 ACTUAL players per team

That is a plague for normal maps, that are still not optimized for ships bigger than frigates. Naval has it's problems, but a lot of them just comes from the initial release stigma, that has yet to disappear, such as low count of players but that can just change over time, if Gaijin will show that they do put some work into the mode and are trying to revitalize it.

Carriers, just like subs could be tested in Naval EC. For now, even though we have all the mechanics needed to implement them, they still are quite finicky to add. I was thinking about just utilizing already existing random plane spawn for SP, but instead of only one plane, you start with 3-4 planes in a squadron that is controlled by AI and follows your plane.

There should be objectives that are realistic. In a real world instance you just don't throw ships into a place knowing there are just as many enemies coming from the other direction. There should be convoy objectives. Get from point A to point B. Protect convoy. Stop enemy ships. Other team can have similar or more attack convoy, stop it from passing basepoint X.

@@AventarYT Then your program isn't that good. There's no such thing as the quietest setting being close to mute. 99% of all video editing software uses db. DB has an almost infinite value to make the sound louder or quieter. That's what all DAWS uses, that's what Davinci Resolve uses, that's what Audacity uses, that's what Premiere uses, etc.

It does use db, it just sometimes mute the clip altogether after a certain threshold. This particular clip was set on the maximum allowed decrease of db. Next time I'll check it on few devices before publishing, instead of just relying on my pc settings

@@AventarYT That's not true. I am a mixing engineer. Db only fully mutes a track if it is set to infinity. Programs use mathematical equations to calculate the volume after changing the db, that's why only true infinity would mute a track. You can bring down a track to -100 db, render it in WAV, and bring it back up to normal levels. I'm not trying to be confrontational, I am stating facts.

Lazy....?, Sir you are Delusional this is just Naval. Nobody cares about the maps because most the players are Bots. Naval is a waste of Dev time unless they do a FULL Rework. This goes for Helicopters to, Waste of time unless a rework.

There's quite a nice community around Naval that do care and we try to be vocal about it. The only time you see more than 1-2 bots per side is at the very top tier or during some unusual hours where most of the world isn't available. Rest of matches are full of players so I'm not so sure that most of them are bots. Full rework is not needed, as the core mechanics are good. Naval needs tweaking in terms of maps or more modes that require every class of ship to cooperate, so EC but in smaller format so to speak for example, but unlike helis, that don't even have dedicated game mode besides PvE and exist solely to be a menace in ground modes, there's no need for full rework.

It's because in their "sekrit dokuments" Large cruiser-class is classified as battlecruisers. Same thing with HMS Glorious or how Gaijin names Kirov-class or Krasny Kavkaz light cruisers, although they are classified as heavy cruisers all around the world.
