Hot take: I have zero respect for married couples who decide they aren't going to have kids just so their life can be easier and they can have more income to themselves. It's so selfish. Ultimately I feel like they are taking more from the world than putting in and kind of spitting on their heritage a bit. We know a couple: Mid thirties, hussband an engineer, wife a nurse; making very good money, own a home, huge Ramsey fans too. The wife is wanting to have kids and feels like her body clock is ticking but the husband is scared of their financial future and also doesn't want his "routine" to be interupted. When I heard that all respect I may have had for him went out the window. Gain some persepctive man. It makes me so mad.

Your take does not matter. Nobody is living their life for you. There are so many selfish people in this world, whether they have kids or whether they don’t. If children truly made me people happy then the birth rates would not be declining. Children are a huge responsibility and people without them understand that fact. Children are not for everyone.

If people dont want kids, that's fine. However the people who make it their identity, put down families and are always insisting they are SO HAPPY, are miserable and lonely people. If they were actually happy, they wouldn't need to do all that to convince themselves.

Making kids possible was hard in the ‘90’s even, let alone today. I borrowed the first stroller, went shopping for baby clothes at second hand stores and fyi most baby clothes are barely used are brand new looking. I waited on the 3rd until the first 2 were in school ( out of school rates were cheaper) and was able to negotiate a lower cost for all 3 at the same daycare. When I was done with the baby stage, I held a garage sale and sold the crib, change table etc. Also, kids don’t stop costing you money. Example now my youngest is 20 in university and car insurance for him on my 2016 car is expensive (over $200 extra per month just for him to drive 1 or 2 times per week) He is so worth it and the chores he does more than makes up for it. Lawn mowing and snow shovelling would each be at least $200/ month if you hired someone!

What I did is crest my own “escrow” account. Have about 30 years worth of insurance & property tax money in that account. And yes I am aware it can go up significantly over that time which I have accounted for but that’s why I say about 30 years worth.

34 (M) single, no kids and never married. Honestly have no desire at this point in my life to allocate any time or resources to raise a child. I enjoy my freedom, no debt, making 6 figures and building wealth to enjoy life in different ways. I LOL when people complain about all their problems at home.

As a newbie investor, it’s essential for you to have a mentor to keep you accountable. Ruth Ann Tsakonas is my trade analyst, she has guided me to identify key market trends, pinpointed strategic entry points, and provided risk assessments, ensuring my trades decisions align with market dynamics for optimal returns.

I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of information can be a big hurdle. I've been making more than $200k passively by just investing through an advisor, and I don't have to do much work.. Inflation or no inflation, my finances remain secure. So I really don't blame people who panic.

When you get to the end of your life, what you will hold as most valuable will be your relationships and children and grandchildren will be at the top of your list. That is the thing that people seem to forget when deciding whether or not to have a children.Raising a child has always been done in a financially unstable, crazy world. My children and my spouse are definitely the best parts of my life even if they leave me with less sleep then I would like 😊
@mjfraser0419 сағат бұрын
This entire response is one of the key issues that “you people” don’t seem to understand. EVERYTHING that you listed above is the definition of egocentric and selfish. All you did was say “ME, ME, ME, My, My, My, I, I, I”. Do you not see anything wrong with creating a life, a life that will have his/her own struggles for survival just to one die die so you can be fulfilled, happy, and have a “mini-me”? You are gambling with someone else life in order to appease some desire of your own.

Having children or a spouse does not guarantee that either will visit the parent in the nursery home. It's talked about a ton in the nursery home community where people's families don't actually visit them at all. It's sad really.

@@mjfraser04 There is not one single relationship that you or I have that did not begin with a personal ('selfish") desire. we have friends/ spouses, mentors, teachers because we desired something that only another human being can provide to us- connection, shared experiences, passing on of knowledge ect. That "selfish desire" got us out of the house into social situations to meet that need. Lets be completly honest, not one of us married because we had a deep desire to nurse someone through the flu, clean the house when THEY are tired or spend our weekend moving someone else for free. But once we make a human conection, if we are not sociopaths, that initial "selfish" desire quickly morphes into a meanful give and take relationship where we do lovingly take care of each other and fill each others needs. Yes, I had a baby because I wanted a child, a new and unique relationship. And I endure sleepless nights, busy days, reduced free time for the joy of watching this tiny person be filled with pride at learning something new, laugh with such joy that I laugh too, sit and have tea and cookies with me, cuddle at night watching a movie. Yes, my child will live in this broken world but they will do so with a parent who loves them and will walk with them through the hard times helping as is in my power to do so. As every generation before me has relised, made their peace with and done for their children, as our parents relised and did for us. And unless you are advocating for the end of the human spiecies, I don't know what other options you would recomend.

@@greenfly0917 It is very sad. But the fact that people may let us downs should not keep us from seeking out and creating connections with other human beings.
