Jason is incredible, the overall instrumental sound is killer, unfortunately James sounded so weak here…

Jason played with a pick to make the sound more strident and noticeable. There is a performance of this 2011 song with double bass and when it comes to the solo, only Jason is heard. Why? Because he pulled the strings with the pick which made the sound much more aggressive. Note that the band lived a lot based on Cliff Burton and when Jason came up with his performance they even silenced the bass on the albums because otherwise they would once again have a super bassist leading the spotlight. Jason live is an animal on stage. Rob takes the stage wearing surfer shorts and racket socks... Jason has a much better performance than Rob does live. In all aspects.

Just my opinion, I think Rob is a much better bass player. But, fuck, I miss Jason's backing vocals live.

My high school friend kept telling me about this awesome band, called Metallica. He gave me this VHS tape to borrow, and I instantly became a life long fan. This song in particular is the song I look forward to the most at their concerts, because of this performance. I just imagine Hetfield doing his riff...and sing Jason's back up vocals, even thougb he's no lonnger there. Nothing beats metallica!

I feel like the biggest thing they lost with Jason was his vocals. Cliff Burton is still my favorite but only because of his song writing abilities. Jason had the BEST bass sound and he was a phenomenal backing vocalist. Robert and Kirk are great at their instruments but when they try to ‘sing’, they sound like Edger Frog (Corey Feldman) from The Lost Boys

I wish Lars played like this now. Yes, he was never the best drummer in the world, but he played parts that were unique to him and somehow fit into metal. And he played pretty good here, a little sloppy but...its a live show. Ill take that over Dream Theater (who I absolutely love on record) but sound like robots live.

The only way this song can be performed without Jason Newsted is incorrectly. He makes Creeping Death what it is live...a godforsaken all-time metal anthem beyond reproach or comparison.
