@@davidcochran5071 I save all my discard and use later even from when I started my starter. I just keep it in the fridge until I have enough. When I’m just getting one going I don’t keep it super long until I use it but I certainly do t waste it.

Question, why would you need to reheat the elderberry juice after straining it and putting it in glass?
@GilgalFarmstead
@GilgalFarmstead 13 күн бұрын
@@BedTimeZzz I canned it to make it shelf stable. I know a lot of people open kettle things like jams, pickles, relishes etc but this didn’t have any sugar in it so I erred on the side of caution. The canning process kills off anything that could potentially cause issues and makes it shelf stable.

Anyone else who tries this and has the same issue with separating the mixer because of the cord here’s a few tips. Depending on your mixer some cords pull out from the back, if it doesn’t then you can easily take off the ground wire on the left-hand side of the mixer which is held by a screw then there are four wires two on each side of the speed control plate, if you look closely you’ll see that they are the wires that are coming out of the bottom of the mixer. After these wires are disconnected then your top will come right off. The wires are colour-coded so it’s virtually impossible to mix them up, especially if you take pictures before you take it apart. The wires on the speed control plate are held on by press on clips. They unplug like pulling a plug out of an outlet. Once you get one apart you’ll see.

There are so many videos. Some say don't use metal others say use wood. Then feed and discard every day, or feed every day, discard every 2nd day. Feed twice a day, or feed once a day. So confusing 😮. If what I'm doing works, great,if not, it's only flour and water. As long as I don't poison anyone, it will be fine, RIGHT???? 😂😂😂

They're trying to ban those in California because they're "not refillable" even though it says on the label that you can't transport them on a train if they have been refilled. The reality is propane is super cheap and they're trying to keep them away from the public. Its also incredibly safe compared to starting a fire.
