Russ, do you fly extensively in Mixed Reality now? I have the Crystal and contemplating grabbing the Quest 3 and SimXR to use with my StayLevel panel with AM and Knobster. Thoughts?

No but I am flying mostly VR over Flat Panels. All the available solutions for MR on Quest 3 are still a bit cumbersome to manage. In some ways Color Panel is the easiest to setthe 1 up because of the SimXR interface. That being said I would definately try the Quest 3 and MR. They just lowered the price on the 512Gb model to $499 and 128Gb model remanLCD screens as they can bee too bright and bloom on the passthrough.

Do you think it could run on a laptop so I could use a very simple version on location? I’m thinking of only a yoke, throttle and rudders as real instruments and the rest VR - just for entertainment.

Great video, I am new to air manager. I just bought a couple of panels and the G5 today. The G5 acts very strange. For some reason, it will not auto-sequence in GPS mode. If I click obs then it will sequence. Very weird, Not sure what I should do and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have never tried flight sims in VR. I borrowed a friends headset once and was blown away by the immersion though I didn't try flight sims. It vastly exceeded my expectations. The problem was I got a headache every time I used it. After about 30 minutes each time I tried it I had to stop because of the headache. I can't say if it was just from the physical headset or the effect it had on my eyes and brain. Kind of decided to just go for the multi monitor thing.

Thanks so much for your videos. I have only tried msfs 2020 so far and don't love the implementation for multi screen. It's unstable and lacks flexibility. Plus I don't expect better from 2024 so I thought I'd look into X Plane. You mention using 5 monitors in this type of setup. Seems like the most outputs modern graphics cards have is 4 and some are limited to only using 3 at a time. I use three 55 inch tvs. How would go about getting 5 displays to work?

At the start of the video I had the nagging suspicion that I knew that landscape, probably because of the Humbergturm on the horizon- twenty seconds in I said to myself, "That looks like the Möbel Martin by the A6/A63 interchange" and had no doubt. Well, I just loved your video here. As a fan of Cold War history, the Ramstein/KL area, and the OV-10 this video lands in a very specific sweet spot for me. Hearing your commentary on the sim model vs your real life experience in things like startup procedures and aircraft handling was great and I really enjoyed hearing about the Bronco squadron at Sembach.

I have held off on VR for this very reason. I have a DOF P3 platform with Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo controls and 2 15" touch screens running air manager and knobsters and I use a tablet for for Navigraph. I currently run triple 43" screens. VR is just not feasible using my current setup if I cannot see my controls, especially my touch screens. This looks like exactly the ticket I have been hoping for but I am not sold on the Quest 3 resolution and having to re-center everything when I take the headset off.

I replaced a set of Virpil Ace Combat pedals with these from Winwing since the rest of my setup is Winwing. My only gripe is for soem reason no matter how I calibrate, they are difficult to use during takeoff. ive played with the settings but they seem to track slightly differrent, but otherwise theyre amazing. I lock them into tank mode to control the leg movement in mechwarrior5 and the flight stick for the torso and its also pretty good.

I watched this video and definitely like the ability to have passthrough hands to operate the controls on my GNS530/GNS430 among other things. I recently downloaded the latest version of Virtual Desktop Streamer. The latest version has a hands passthrough and that worked seamlessly. Have you tried it? There are probably missing functions you would like to have but aren't there. This fits my needs and I don't have to load another layer of software to get it. I would like to here your comments as to what you think about it. I have found your videos on MR to be very helpful.

I love the fact that they didn't junk up this build with the usual consumer grade light switches, dinky throttle axis, misplaced ignition switch, goofy LED lights etc. This has the feel of Virtual Fly products which are modular and bulletproof. . They could use an extra button on the left for CWS and perhaps aileron trim on right etc. I also like the fact that the yoke itself could be swapped out for say a rams horn Embraer or Boeing style yoke or even a 3D printed yoke perhaps. I hope all devs realize that modularity is key to flight sim controls at least at the pro/prosumer level. imo Thanks for review Russ!

Correct anything on my videos related to video streaming prior to this video was on AM desktop. The cool thing is that you could run your cockpit panel on a less powerful computer using AM desktop and your sim on a second more powerful computer and still include streamed video in your AM cockpit panel. Prior to this you had to pop out the video screens from the sim and position them on a panel attached to the sim computer. Unfortunately this clunky method is still the only way to do it with MSFS2020.

@@rbarlow thank you for this Russ. Pardon my 'slowness' but I think you are essentially saying if you are using AM on the iPad and you load a panel from the iPad that has ben created using your technique the iPad then displays that panel? Sorry I am new to AM and running a Mac Studio with AM. I have also just successfully integrated a third party touch screen with the Mac running AM desktop and an iPad with iPad AM Are you doing these panel mods on AM Desktop? Can those panels somehow be accessed from theI iPad (export?). I run three main screens for XP on a Mac Studio with the fourth touchscreen as well. I thinkI can run more than one iPad as well. And if my slow brain is still sorta working by streaming do you mean calling up the panel file you have modified? Again thank you for this and all that you do.
@rbarlow
@rbarlow 28 күн бұрын
Yes if you have XP12 and the iPad version of Air Manager on the same local area network the video will stream to the iPad if the instrument supports streaming video and that instrument is in the currently running in the selected aircraft in the sim. So for example if you’re running the Cessna 172SP which has a Garmin G530 and the selected panel on the iPad Air Manager panel has the G530 instrument displayed then the mirrored G530 video should appear on the iPad. If you were running the G1000 Cessna 172 the G530 wouldn’t show the video because the sim is not producing the source video. In that case, your iPad panel had a G1000 instrument then it would show the G1000 video. The bad news on iPad is that you’re limited to the instruments that are included and periodically updated on the iPad Air Manager App. If you use an app like SpaceDesk (windows) or Sidecar( macOS) to use the iPad as an additional monitor you can treat it like any extra monitor and display any Air Manager Instruments including custom ones you have made that include streamed video from the sim
