Every time I have to reset the touch function of my screens and have to look for it, I think this time I'll remember it. But every time I have to resort to such useful tutorials. 😄
@rbarlowАй бұрын
You may be starting your computer without all your monitors attached and powered. In that case Windows will say to itself what happened the monitors are not all there and re-initialze your monitors. If it sees them all on startup it should stay set from session to session.

@@rbarlow That's true, I always have the main screen on, 2 touchscreens not always. But I think it has been saved a few times. Yesterday I did the 24/2 update and they were both off. I'll definitely keep an eye on it. Thx for reply.

Russ: Many of your videos have been a godsend to this neophyte flight simmer. This one is especially timely since I’m getting ready to get my first separate touchscreen monitor. I’ve been using Air Manager on my touchscreen laptop. One thing that I’ve never seen addressed in the physical hookup of multiple monitors. I’d appreciate a video on physically attaching everything, including types of ports and the use of the Pluggable (another great video) versus a USB hub. That would relieve a lot of my anxiety going forward. Thanks for the knowledge you spread.

I recently did a video on setting up multiple touchscreen monitors. I think if you take a look at that you will have what you need to set up a working system. You will just need a video connection to the computer and the separate USB connection to carry the touch signals. It’s not that complicated, but the video addresses the part that trips most people are if you have more questions feel free to ask.

One quick note on the “Tablet PC Settings”…it’s not always there. I had a 3 TV (55 inch) setup running two 15.6 inch touchscreens via USB to HDMI. Windows would randomly “lose” the tablet PC setup shortcut…so I had to dig to find the actual shortcut (that you can cut and paste) to put it in yourself. I can’t tell you how frustrating that was

Hi Russ. Great video as always. I was wondering, as I was reviewing some of your earlier videos of you testing your five screen sim setup with the modest computer you had at the time you were testing. Were you able to get your sim to operate nicely using just one computer or are you still using two? And if you were to update your modest pc you had at the time of your testing and were to upgrade your computer to a modest pc of 2023 standards like a Intel 13xxx cpu and a gpu 4000 series, would they be advanced enough to get you by on a one pc flight sim system? Or would you still be using two computers? Have things changed? And the question applies to either X-Plane 12 or MS Flight Sim 2020 flight sim software. Thanks. Take care.

Hi Russ. I have enjoyed viewing your videos and find them full of great info. I have been out of aviation for over a decade now and am moving back that direction hopefully as a career. I plan on using a sim to help get back into the saddle, particularly with IFR flying. I plan to use 1 main monitor and 2 - 15.6 touchscreens. My question for you is which flight sim would yiu recommend for my purpose - msfs or Xplane? Thanx again. Ben

Russ, thanks for another well explained and detailed video. I'm currently building a flight sim for C172, using right and left dash panels created by those great guys at Altimeter Motives running Air Manager 4 on a 24" HD monitor for the left side, and on the right side, panel mounted GNS 530 on top of comms, AP and transponders by Propwash Simulations, all displayed on 3 - 55" 4k monitors driven by a RTX 4090. Realism is everything...my question to you, good sir, is how did you make the shade - hood on top of your panel? Or could you make a recommendation on materials to use? Many thanks again, Russ!!

This used to work for me. Now, i get the occasional bug where my PC seemingly 'forgets' my settings. The PC was not put to sleep/hibernate and is active throughout. Tapping on screen 2 will suddenly give me responses on screen 1 instead. Even as i try to fix it in the calibration screen, tapping on screen 2 only gives me touch responses on screen 1. The only fix I have at the moment is to restart the whole PC, knowing at the back of my head that it is going to happen again within the next hour. This is really not an ideal fix for me as this is a work computer setup that requires me to stay live with both my touchscreens working. Any idea what I can do to rectify this?

Great video! But my system resets the calibration after every reboot. Did you ever had such a problem?
@rbarlow9 ай бұрын
I suspect your second monitor may be set as the main monitor is not being sensed when things boot up so your computer makes the one it senses the main monitor screwing up multi monitor. Try swapping the main monitor designation in display settings. Also be sure to leave your monitors attached between sessions and have then powered at boot up.

Is a touch screen grid something you can buy or does this come with some monitors? I never knew this was possible. Thanks.
@rbarlow Жыл бұрын
It is also called a digitizer and it is one of several methods to track finger touches on a screen. Your smart phone has one mounted on the display too. Older versions used infrared beams, that your finger interrupted, and both X and Y directions to determine where the finger was touching the screen. you can buy these frames and mount them on any monitor. Newer versions use capacitive touch where there is a series of very fine electrical conductors in a glass screen as senses the presence of the finger. Many of these support multiple fingers at the same time called multitouch.

How are you setting up 5 monitors on a pc with only 4 video ports? I have been wanting to do this but can't figure out how to do that and be able to pop out and drag the avionics into air manager on the two touch screens.
@rbarlow Жыл бұрын
Check out this idea. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIvJq2Wnnth9apI As for the pop outs are you using XP12 or MSFS? Either way it is easy.

Hi Russ, in MSFS I cannot get the GNS 430 and 530 to pop out. I have the standard version and it's in the Pilaetus and Cap 10 planes. I have the avionics power on but the magnifying pop out icon doesn't show when I hover over with the mouse. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong or if you know that the standard edition MSFS don't let you pop out the GNS?

You have to press and hold the Right Alt key (to the right of the spacebar), often labeled AltGr on your keyboard. It should work also in the standard edition.

Windows is not seeing your monitor as a touch monitor. I suspect your monitor’s usb gor touch is not connecting. You cannot use the use for the video signal at the same time. Use hdmi for video and connect usb for touch. You may also need power too as the usb cannot power the monitor when using usb for touch.

I am running 3 55" screens plus two 15" screens for popouts with Air Manager on MSFS. I lose 15 FPS when I popout the two G1000 screens. The two 15" screens are connected to the computer by a USB to HDMI adapter. I am using a 4090 graphics card and an I9-14900 CPU. Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?

They should unless they have a defect. Will they each work separately as touch screens? Will one work as a touchscreen when both are connected? Do they both show up as USB devices in Device Manager? What happens when you run the calibration as shown in the video?
