Which city or place is convenient as we are coming and going from Narita airport? Is kawaguchi good option? Is this station on JR line?
@tokyokenchan
@tokyokenchan Күн бұрын
Yes, Kawaguchi is on JR line. If you can, it's easier to stay near Ueno area but Kawaguchi is not far. Not a common place to stay for visitors from abroad though.

Is it true that there is a Sinkansen package from Tokyo to Kyoto inclusive of hotel stay. Price is very reasonable. Is it only for Japanese or tourist can also book it? I plan to go to Kyoto on 22nd for 4days then back to Tokyo till end Dec.

Yes. It's offered as part of EX service by JR central, and you can book in English site. Depending on the date and schedule, it's very reasonable. I thought I talked about it but maybe I haven't... fewww.jrtours.co.jp/corporate/en/

Ken-san! I'm really thankful I've stumbled upon your channel some time ago because this guide is incredible. I used these tips to travel around Tokyo a couple of months ago, and I think I did at least half of the things you mentioned haha. Still have some things to do from the list for my next trip! I especially liked the less obvious recommendations - the rebon bath-house coffee shop and the Hijiri-bashi bridge.

Likely "cream soda" which in Japan is actually an ice cream float using melon soda. Melon soda is a little bit of an acquired taste but it's also the best soda in the world, maybe. I order it anywhere that offers it. The fanta version is best IMO. Ramune is fine but expensive for amount. Suntory is passable. Some try to be "cream soda" flavor but I don't think they taste right- the deliciousness of a "cream soda" is in the difference between the creamy ice cream and the sharp sweetness of the melon soda. Drinking "cream soda" soda just tastes like you've let your cream soda melt. Straight melon soda or a "cream soda" are best I think.

Great video. I will say the Sunshine 60 is a hidden gem. It doesn't have the hype of Shibuya Sky but a) its higher, and b) youre not in the elements getting whipped around or subject to random non-refundable weather cancelations. Also, almost no lines. We saw TDR fireworks clearly from there at night.
@tokyokenchan
@tokyokenchan 3 күн бұрын
Thank you! Oh wow, TDR fireworks must be quite far from Ikebukuro. It must have been very clear day. Yes Shibuya Sky started to refund for cancellation with 20% fee, but it's still great that we can drop by Sunshine 60 with no pressure or stress for 700 Yen - 1200 Yen.

Before purchasing the Hakone freepass, please ask for the Hakone freepass brochure and read the fine print on the bottom of the front page. There is a rule that says, "The Hakone Freepass (including those valid for multiple days) cannot be used after returning to your departure station." Basically, the freepass is encourages people to stay in Hakone to fully benefit from it. It doesn't matter if two or three days pass once you return back to Shinjuku station, the freepass cannot be reused again. In our case the station staff took away our two-day pass which was only used for one day. Anyway, I think I should put it out there to let everyone know there is a rule they need to know about it. Love your videos.

I am a fan of overnight ferry travel after taking the ferry from Copenhagen to Oslo around this time last year. Your excellent video brought back many memories. Agree that this is a romantic way to travel. Big difference is that the Scandinavian trip is in mostly protected waters of the North Sea. The route offers wonderful scenery and arrival in Oslo is mid morning which is a plus.
