its not a great idea to hold the front of the Bren as has been done ,the piston group is flying up and down close to your hand ?

Fired a Bren when I was in army cadets at Toronto high school. The Bren was in a competition with the Browning BAR. The Bren won hands down.

Still used it in the 80s in australian infantry & refurbished in 7.62 and called the L4 bren i carried it for yrs as number 1 rifleman in infantry section. Supremely accurate mg would have been happy to use it in war. Bitch to clean but reliable. Fuck knows why he keeps cocking it after a few rounds. old flogged out bren

Back in the sixties When in the Army cadets we went to our local range, we were told we had to get rid of a load of .303 rounds. We loaded up all our Bren mags and fired off hundreds of rounds in one afternoon, a great weapon to fire, happy memories.
@SuperDelicious8489 күн бұрын
Ex army ‘70’s dude here, I’m sure the Bren used 7.62 rounds. Are you sure about using the .303 ammo?
@davegoldsmith40209 күн бұрын
@@SuperDelicious848 Yes, I am talking the late sixties. We were using WW2 era Lee Enfield rifles and same era Brens. Our Army cadet unit was adjacent to the range, and as such responsible for ammunition. We simply had to use it up each year or the quota was reduced. Firing it off with Brens on Auto was much quicker than single shot Rifles.

@@SuperDelicious848 Brens in Army service would have been converted to 7.62MM NATO, cadet service weapons tend to not be upgraded as a cost saving measure. Most of their L85s are .22 BTW and were never upgraded from the A1 standard and have iron sights etc. Perfectly acceptable for cadet service but not practical if you're actually in combat with them.

Used to good effect by the Australians against the Imperial Japanese in the mountains and jungles of Papua New Guinea between 1942- 1944. Also served with the 16,000 Australians north of the 38th Parallel in the Korean War between 1950- 1953 and again in the jungles of Malaya during the Malayan Emergency from 1948 to 1955.

The carrying handle on the Bren or the L4 as it was known in 7.62, can be pulled out and locked to allow you to fire on the move. A great way to turn rounds into brass
