Thanks for this video. I understand your reasoning, and it works, although the actual runway numbers on the charts and at airports are opposite from the compass rose. I'm not sure if knowing that makes a difference to folks taking the test, but looking at a chart, it may be confusing when you see the runway number on the opposite side of the rose. As you know, if you land on runway 18, you are heading south, but the runway designation is on the north end of the runway, and the south end is designated 36. I find that numbering runways on the rose the way they are marked at airports simplifies understanding the approach.
@MeridianMediaАй бұрын
Great observation! You’re absolutely correct that runway numbers correspond to the magnetic heading of the direction you’re facing when taking off or landing. This means Runway 18 (180°) faces south, but the number '18' is marked at the north end of the physical runway. I focused on simplifying this for test takers by matching headings with runway directions, but I see how visualizing the compass rose and runway layout side-by-side might cause confusion. Thanks for pointing that out-I'll keep that in mind for future videos to make this even clearer!

Do you shoot clog 3 or clog 2 with the c70? Curious on how well the r6 clog3 matches with the c70 clog2.
@MeridianMediaАй бұрын
When I’m shooting with both cameras, I usually use C-Log3 on the C70 to make matching with the R6 Mark II easier. I’ve paired C-Log2 with C-Log3 before, and while you can get them looking very similar with some work, it’s not worth the extra time if you can avoid it. The biggest difference I’ve noticed (aside from dynamic range) is that C-Log3 tends to look a bit more contrasty after applying the conversion LUT.

Re: 2:29 although 6K may not be necessary at this point in time, Canon clearly had future proofing in mind when they made the R6 MK II as this camera shoots 6K RAW when paired with an Atmos Ninja V+
@MeridianMediaАй бұрын
You’re absolutely right! To be honest, I didn’t realize this was possible, so thanks for bringing it up! That said, I personally don’t see many situations where I’d use it. The need for an external recorder adds to the cost, and the file sizes and workflow with RAW are overkill for most of my projects. But it’s definitely a nice option for those who need that level of flexibility and quality in post. Appreciate the insight!
@TheBeatSeatАй бұрын
Can you share the benefits of the c70 over the canon r6 mark 2? i have a chance to upgrade to the C70 but is that a smart move with my one camera setup? I only have the 15-35 rf lens so the crop is giving me pause and the pixel count. Would love some advice on which camera provides better video footage especially when streaming on KZbin. Thank you!! Mark
@MeridianMediaАй бұрын
Hi Mark, great question! If you’re primarily streaming on KZbin, the C70 might be overkill. Many of its advanced features-like RAW recording or C-Log 2-aren’t really applicable for streaming since those settings are designed for high-end post-production workflows, not live or compressed video. That said, the C70 has several advantages over the R6 Mark II, especially for professional video work. It comes with built-in ND filters, 4K at 120fps, the ability to record in C-Log 2 (offering greater dynamic range), mini XLR inputs for professional audio, and even RAW recording. It’s definitely a powerhouse, but it’s also more of a specialized video tool. The crop on the C70 is definitely something to consider, but I personally use it with the 0.71x speedbooster, which adapts EF lenses to the RF mount. The speedbooster not only brings the angle of view closer to full-frame but also adds a stop of aperture, which is great for low light or shallow depth of field. However, you’d need an EF lens to take advantage of that setup. If you’re doing a lot of hybrid work or want a lighter and more versatile setup, the R6 Mark II might be a better fit. It’s a great all-around camera, especially if you already have the RF 15-35mm lens. Ultimately, I’d say if you’re leaning more into high-end video production, the C70 is worth the investment. But for KZbin streaming and hybrid work, the R6 Mark II is a fantastic choice. Hope this helps, and feel free to ask more questions if you have them!

The off center viewing thing is because the center of your vision has enhanced color perception, more cones. So less rods. But cones don't work in low light, that's why twilight is when you can't perceive color anymore. Your central vision is better during the day, because you have color and brightness to pick out edges, and worse at night. By looking off a little you use an area that has maximum rod density. A long time ago I read that a rod will fire for 2 photons, but that's probably when the liquid purple has had time to be generated. Liquid purple is chemical gain enhancement which is destroyed by light. That's why a bright light ruins you night vision too. Red light does not destroy liquid purple... and that's probably not the right name for it. Ah, proper name is rhodopsin, but it does have a purplish color. It's a protein.

Hello, I enjoyed this video very much. Thank you. In regards to new content I would like to know how to connect the Sennheiser MK 600 to a DSLR camera using an external recording unit such as zoom H4 or Tascam as presented here. Additionally, did you sync the video with the audio during post production through editing software. I appreciate all your work.
@MeridianMediaАй бұрын
Hi! Thank you for the thoughtful comment, and I’m glad you enjoyed the video! To answer your question, yes, you can connect the Sennheiser MKE 600 to a DSLR camera via an external recorder like the Zoom H4 or a Tascam. However, I personally tend to record audio separately on the external recorder and sync it in post. Here's why: Modern recorders often support 32-bit float recording, which gives you incredible dynamic range and eliminates worries about clipping. Most cameras can’t record audio at this quality, so by keeping the audio on the recorder and syncing later, you’re getting the best possible audio quality. As for syncing in Premiere Pro, while it’s not automatic, the process is very straightforward. You simply select the video and audio clips, right-click, and choose “Synchronize.” It’s quick and easy-just a click of a button. Let me know if you'd like a video covering this workflow or tips for syncing external audio. Thanks again for watching, and I appreciate your support!

@@MeridianMedia Hello. That answers a lot of my questions. Thanks for the excellent response. Yes, a video covering this workflow would be great, and would add a lot of value to other viewers. Is this process straight forward in other editing software, such as Clipchamp for Final Cut pro? Thank you again for taking time to respond. It really helped me out a lot.
@MeridianMediaАй бұрын
@@harry087 You’re very welcome-I’m so glad the response was helpful! I’ve never used Clipchamp, so I can’t speak to how syncing works there, but I can tell you that syncing in Final Cut Pro is very straightforward. Final Cut Pro has a built-in synchronize clips feature that works similarly to Premiere Pro. You select your video and audio clips, right-click, and choose “Synchronize Clips.” It does a great job of aligning audio and video quickly. I’ll definitely consider making a video on this workflow-thanks for the suggestion! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. 😊

Thanks for the great tips. And what a very buggy tool. Too bad. Anyway too include speedramps? Very disappointing.
@MeridianMediaАй бұрын
You're welcome-glad you found the tips helpful! You’re right, Render and Replace has its quirks, and unfortunately, I don’t believe speed ramps are preserved when using this feature. Speed ramps are typically tied to the clip’s time remapping settings, which don’t carry over during Render and Replace because the replaced clip essentially becomes a new flattened file.

@@MeridianMedia Hi, I am trying to record my audio using mke600 with id4 audient in Audacity software on a windows laptop. I am a very beginner in audio so pls help.
@MeridianMediaАй бұрын
@@anusuyav Hi! Great question, and I'm happy to help. For the Sennheiser MKE600 connected to your ID4 interface, you’ll want to use the analogue 1/2 input, as that’s the direct input for your microphone. However, the reason you're getting audio only on the left side is that you're likely recording a mono source (the mic) into a stereo track. Here’s what you can do: In Audacity, when setting up your track, choose mono recording instead of stereo. This ensures the signal from your mic gets centered in the mix. If you've already recorded a track in stereo and it's only on the left side, you can fix it by splitting the stereo track into two mono tracks (click the drop-down arrow next to the track name in Audacity) and deleting the empty right-side track. The loop-back option is for recording audio being played on your computer, like a system sound or music. Stick with analogue 1/2 for your mic. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have more questions. 😊

@MeridianMedia2 ай бұрын
Great question! When you slide the Tascam DR-10L Pro directly to the 'Record' position from an off state, it starts recording within about 1-2 seconds. This is faster than the previous method I used, which involved sliding to 'On' first and holding for a few seconds before switching to 'Record,' taking about 4-5 seconds in total. It may not seem like a huge difference, but in situations where you need to start rolling immediately, those few seconds can make a real impact. I’ve been in that situation myself!
