Amazing. This guy should create an entire series on Part 107.

Thanks for this video. I understand your reasoning, and it works, although the actual runway numbers on the charts and at airports are opposite from the compass rose. I'm not sure if knowing that makes a difference to folks taking the test, but looking at a chart, it may be confusing when you see the runway number on the opposite side of the rose. As you know, if you land on runway 18, you are heading south, but the runway designation is on the north end of the runway, and the south end is designated 36. I find that numbering runways on the rose the way they are marked at airports simplifies understanding the approach.

Great observation! You’re absolutely correct that runway numbers correspond to the magnetic heading of the direction you’re facing when taking off or landing. This means Runway 18 (180°) faces south, but the number '18' is marked at the north end of the physical runway. I focused on simplifying this for test takers by matching headings with runway directions, but I see how visualizing the compass rose and runway layout side-by-side might cause confusion. Thanks for pointing that out-I'll keep that in mind for future videos to make this even clearer!

Will they ever rephrase the question to ask about an aircraft that is "upwind"?
@MeridianMedia11 ай бұрын
Great question! I've haven't seen a question about aircrafts heading upwind on any of the practice guides, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared for that just in case it comes up.
