people forget about Kerplunk and 39/smooth those to me were also good. One the bands that influenced them was Operation Ivy, also a band worth checking out. Members of Operation Ivy went on to become Rancid.

You're missing out on enjoying the most heartwarming and softest moments on the record where they're composing their own feeling and melancholic overtones into a record compromised of mostly dance tracks that are 90% samples. Those are the parts that feel so heartfelt and convey the most emotion outside of Digital Love. It makes the samples hit different as well, since samples serve their purpose. Those interludes and fully unsampled songs are fire, especially when you've seen Interstella 5555

First time I heard In Rainbows I was 13. I suffered with insomnia as a kid so I’d always grab my dad’s iPod and listen to music when I couldn’t sleep. Randomly one night I just chose In Rainbows and listened to it the whole way through in the pitch black with headphones in. I came to a realisation after listening to this masterpiece as a young teenager that there was not only music that could be deeply transformative to my psyche but that life was much deeper and complex than I thought at that time in my life. This album changed everything for me and I’ll never forget it.

That upbeat sound disguising sad lyrics (which you mentioned about Midwest Indigo) is characteristic of this band. I really like that style of songwriting, and in my humble opinion they do it better than anybody else I’ve heard. Their song Not Today is the perfect example of that theme, they even call it out in the lyrics. I’m glad you enjoyed Clancy! Thanks for sharing! As a big fan it’s always fun listening to people hear their stuff for the first time and be blown away by it. I hope you listen to other albums in the future! If you like that upbeat-sad contrast (plus some of their best raps), Vessel is an absolute must hear!

I think you would really love Care For Me by Saba. Personably it’s one of my favorite albums of all time. Not only is the writing heartfelt and emotional but the music itself is extremely textured and cohesive. It’s a fantastic album

One of the best things about Radiohead as a band is they never stuck with any specific one sound. There are many bands that stick with the same key signatures, similar tempos, rhythms, etc. but Radiohead has always just constantly evolved. Sometimes their songs will sound aggressive and energetic, other times they will sound nostalgic and moody. Dark and depressing, light and romantic. And they actually experiment with time signatures, strange chord progressions, and song structuring. They are musicians that don’t restrict themselves to any rules. They always made music using anything that sparked creativity, regardless of what it was. That’s why they’re one of the greatest bands of all time, and why their discography is so great.

People that hate on U2 are just being corny and contrarian. Yes, U2s modern output is not very good and it doesn’t hold a candle to their early work, but that doesn’t take away from the fact they’ve dropped numerous classics. Like if you’re gonna listen to an album like the Joshua tree and act like it’s mediocre I can’t really take your music opinions seriously. Most people just hate U2 literally because of that Apple Music incident and the dumb narrative that Bono is some pretentious douchebag, which just isn’t true at all. Plenty of bands have dropped duds, it doesn’t mean that their fantastic work isnt any less fantastic. For some reason, U2 just became an easy target. Probably because they make music anybody can enjoy. The more mainstream friendly something is, no matter how great, the more hated it will be. But there’s a reason why the Joshua tree is one of the highest selling albums of all time, and it’s because it’s instantly gripping music that you feel in your soul.

Lovely, really. And you still don’t know Sigur Ros? My guy, treat your ears and your love for their type of music and get on it! Ideally a reaction starting with their breakout stunner “Ágætis byrjun”. And each album after is worth listening over and over, forever. Even Radiohead invited them to open for them during one of their tours. If random internet guy doesn’t convince you, let Thom and Co give you that push.

I have been a Muse fan for about 3 years now (I started liking them in 2018 when I was about 8 years old) and Black Holes was the first full album I listened to. I loved your enthusiasm over the songs but I was surprised that you weren’t as interested in Assassin, Exo-Politics, and City of Delusion because those are probably my 3 favorite songs (behind Knights of Cydonia) and I think they did grow on me from when I first listened to the album. Anyways, I would recommend listening to Origin of Symmetry next. It will blow you away.
