It’s hard to explain how much these first 2 albums mean to people that grew up in UK in the 90s. Two of the best, and most influential albums ever written.

I was a kid living in Manchester in 1994 when this came out. I didn't really have my own taste in music just whatever my Mum had on. I saw and heard Supersonic on Top Of The Pops and that was it! My Mum got me the Definitely Maybe cassette and it changed my taste in music going forward and it made me an album listener. To this day, even with the way the world is now with streaming etc I'm an album guy and it's all thanks to this. I've see Noel love and Liam live but not Oasis.... until next year!

They’d released three singles (maybe 4 not sure if cigs and alc was released as a single yet) by the point it was released and it went straight to number 1 and became the fastest selling debut album of all time in the UK.

Id reccomend "the masterplan". Its not a studio album, but its a compilation of all their B sides that didnt make thr albums. From 94-96 Noel Gallagher was writing so many great songs, and he wasted alot of them in just B sides. Masterplan, Acquiesce, Head Shrinker, Listen Up, Underneath the Sky, Rockin chair are all fantastic songs that didnt reach the studio albums
@jerrunholt55713 ай бұрын
Aquiesce is unique for being one of few oasis songs to have Noel and Liam alternate with the lesd vocals Knebworth is also a mental concert to watch. To just watch a crowd of 150k people all just going for it in unision. You wont find many artist who have done what oasis did. Formed in 91, took off a few years later, became the biggest band in the planet, and then burned out after album 3 lol

Stunning album, full of Absolute Bangers - i was around 17-18 when this album came out and it was such a massive part of my summer that year. Oasis were everything the UK music industry needed - musical oomph, swagger, grit, relevance, driving tunes, thumping drums, brilliant riffs, attitude, gravitas and presence. Still love this album, have been listening for over 30 years on repeat!

I’d love to see you react to their album “Standing on the Shoulder of Giants” . It’s very underrated and probably my third favourite next to the first 2!

If you're considering doing the other albums, you should do The Masterplan before Be Here Now. IIRC it was released after BHN, but the tracks are b-sides from the first two albums worth of EP singles.
@thetourist62564 ай бұрын
not surprised you weren't blown away if you listened to morning glory first. there isn't much variety on definitely maybe, and there isn't much songwriting going on. I mean, for most of the songs they couldn't even be bothered to write a second verse ffs ^^ but, in the early 90s, there wasn't anything like this. there was artsy stuff and inaccessible alternative rock and worn out classic rock, but this... this was like the first rave, just at the opposite side of the spectrum. that raw energy, that punk swagger, pure rocknroll. most of us hadn't heard anything like this before. personally, I still haven't heard anything like it since. definitiely my favourite oasis album. you probably didn't have it loud enough :P

I grew up listening to this band, I was 10 years old when I first heard What's the Story Morning Glory, but this is my favourite of their albums. Fortunate enough to have seen them live in 2006 and 2009, and the atmosphere is simply electric. PS I love the DMA's

Oasis in the mid 90s was pure rock n roll. Unsophistacted, rude and arrogant as fuck, but sounded cooler than anything else, and backed their attitudes up

Wowww was not expecting this, goated album. Listened to it live last month on Liam's concert, it was a fantastic experience. Seeing all those people singing their hearts out in the crowd really makes you understand why those songs speak to so many. That being said, still expecting for that Blur reactionnn🙏🙏🙏🙏

Since u like DM and WTSMG u should listen to the b-sides from them cos a fair few of them are better than the a-sides. They have an album called ‘The master plan’ which has most of them but there are others u will have to listen to separately.

Reunion so far is Noel, Liam, Bone head (3rd most important member, a big part of oasis sound being what it was), Zac Starkey (ringos son), and I think Gem Archer (was in the hand in rh3 past)

Ah the nostalgia! Married with Children is definitely what we would call a dis track today. I think they released Supersonic and possibly Shakermaker ahead of this album. The third single was Live Forever by which time album was out which was a shame because LF would probably have been or should have been their first No1. The first no. 1 was Some Might Say.
@ClaireWW3 ай бұрын
Married with children is a song about Noels feelings about Liam, and then getting Liam to sing it. Liam was too dim to realise he was singing about himself.

This album is so much better than What's the Story to me it's not even funny. The 2nd album is like a whole other band in its sound...whole other drummer for a start.
@jerrunholt55713 ай бұрын
Morning glory imo isnt quite as good. The biggest hits are there, but its production isnt as good and its not as consistant. Definitely maybe is one of the coolest albums of the 90s, but tbf the variety isnt really there like it is with morning glory Glory has rock songs, ballads, a fun beatleseqsue song, some absolute classics while definitely maybe is just rock, rock, rock, rock, one of the best rock songs ever in live forever, rock, rock, married with children. So if you want variety, maybe go for morning glory, but I personally prefer the energy and vibe of definitely maybe

@smoshbooz morning glory, be here now, standing on the shoulder of giants, don't believe the truth and dig out your soul definitely aren't boring cheesy rock. You obviously haven't heard them or are trying to be "cool". The only album of theirs that fits that description is Heathen Chemistry (which does suck).
