Now I get what you meant by saying “even Fighting Types beware” 😂 I can’t believe I completely forgot about Bewear 🤣 I’ll say this, I definitely wasn’t expecting THIS much abnormality in your Normal type Gym 😂 I knew you’d pick abnormally strong movesets, but I definitely wasn’t expecting the labyrinth. Honestly? I don’t think I would change a thing. I’d say I’d change Ursaring’s Hyper Beam to Giga Impact, but after seeing Ursaring use it in the anime, I’ve definitely reconsidered 😁 My team for my Normal type Pokémon Gym: Staraptor, Obstagoon, Wigglytuff, and Ursaluna! Staraptor’s moveset will be Acrobatics for quadruple damage from Flying STAB and without holding an item, Close Combat for Ice, Steel, and Rock type coverage, Double Edge for Normal type STAB, and Roost to recover health. Obstagoon’s moveset: Obstruct for protection against moves and to lower opponent’s defence, Take Down for STAB, Throat Chop for STAB, and either Fire Punch for coverage against Bug types, or Cross Poison for coverage against Fairy types. Reckless would be Obstagoon’s ability to boost the power of moves that involve recoil damage. Wigglytuff’s moveset: Reflect for defensive protection, Dazzling Gleam for Fairy STAB and coverage against Fighting type moves, Psychic for coverage against Poison, and Hyper Beam for Normal STAB. Ursaluna; its moveset would be Bulldoze for Ground STAB and to lower opponent’s speed, Play Rough for coverage against Fighting types, Seed Bomb for Water type coverage, and Fire Punch for coverage against both Grass and Ice types. My Normal Type Gym will be in Solaceon Town in the Sinnoh Region. It’ll be either the 4th or 5th Gym to challenge. My Gym layout for the Normal Type Gym will be based on that of a family home, with a homey vibe. The house is steady and well built enough to handle having battles in it, along with the rooms, with battlefields underneath the carpet. Each there’s different areas on the first floor, and there’s a stairway that leads to the second area, hidden behind somewhere. There’s numerous trainers around, defeat enough of them, and they’ll hint the stairway to the next floor. These trainers will have Pidgeotto and Fearow as well as a Pidgeot, Ratticate, Miltank, Bibarel, Stantler, Glameow and Purugly, Ambipom, Linoone, Zangoose, Chansey and a Blissey, Jigglypuff, and Chatot! You’ll sometimes also occasionally meet a young man (me) who will offer you and your Pokémon some snacks, as a little bit of a refreshment, and as a token of welcoming. Also, you’ll notice plenty of trainers with their Pokémon out, with their Pokémon either perched on their shoulders or on counters, or snuggling and cuddling up to them. Some Chatot will also have a chatty personality, even the ones battling! It’ll ask how you’re doing, and might even poke fun at you to give you a good laugh, make you feel at home! It’ll especially catch you off guard while you’re on the first floor, even before you battle one, and will even say “Hi (trainer’s/challenger’s name). How are you?” If you make it to the second floor, you’ll find a trainer awaiting you, challenging you, then you’ll see different rooms, where you’ll eventually find me in one of them! I’ll poke fun at the challenger opening the door saying “Ever heard of knocking?!” Probably scaring/shocking them at first seeing me in the room. Then I laugh, saying “hahaha, joking 😁 So, whatcha think of my home? There’s really no place like home, is there?” The challenger might be confused, until I clarify a few things about my place here. “You came here for a Gym Battle, didn’t you? And you’re probably looking for the Gym Leader, right? Well, look no further :)” “I imagine you were expecting a Gym with a fiercer seeming training regiment. You’ve probably battled some fierce Gym already. Well, that’s why I wanted my Gym to be this way! Little more relaxing, isn’t it? Makes you feel like you’re at home, right? We all need a home to go to every once in a while, especially in life. We all need a bit of normalcy in our lives. That being said, you did come here for a Gym Battle. Once the battles begin, you shouldn’t let my Gym’s rustic homely design fool you. It IS a Pokémon Gym, after all. Shall we begin, then?” If you can defeat all 4 of my Pokémon, you will be rewarded the Hospitality Badge, it’ll be shaped like a home. In addition, you will also be rewarded with either the Take Down or Hyper Beam TM. To answer your question, your topic is something I honestly hadn’t considered while creating my Normal Type Gym, until I saw this video 🤔 Truth be told, what I consider normal and what I consider abnormal…For me, normality for me is like either like a comfort zone or something I’m accustomed to, while abnormality is like trying something different or something I’m not normally used to. But that’s part of both the beauty and challenge of life. It’s good to have the things to pay attention too, and enjoy the things that you know bring you comfort, but it’s also good to try something sometimes too, or potentially prepare for a change even if it might be difficult. I think I’ve made a solid demonstration in my Gym, with preparing Pokémon you’re used to seeing, as well as a home like setting you’re probably familiar with, but also added some twists and turns to it visitors won’t always expect! Staraptor and Wigglytuff are similar enough to the Pokémon you’ve encountered in the Gym so far, but Obstagoon and Ursaluna are two Pokémon you probably wouldn’t normally see nor expect seeing around most places, and squaring off against those Pokémon in my Normal Type Gym might come off as an abnormal surprise to my challengers.

Honestly, after watching many of the What If you were a Pokémon Gym Leader videos, its gotten me wondering what Paul’s own Gym design and layout would be, along with what kind of trainers would train there and challenge the challengers, what his overall theme would be, lessons for his challengers, the badge and TM rewards for victory, etc. If his Gym had the construction and layout similar to one from the games. I personally can’t think of an aesthetic for the Gym Paul could have, but I can think of the overall theme of his Gym, and some of the trainers I can see Paul inviting to join his Gym as Gym trainers, and each one representing and excelling in a certain battling style/method. Each trainer will consist of trainers Paul either has experience with from watching them battle, or personally battling them himself, or people Paul knows had experience with, and they’re all from Sinnoh. Nando, Barry, and Conway, as well as Riley (the Lucario trainer on Iron Island) who Barry has some experience with, and Buck who Ash’s friend Brock has some experience with, and I can picture Buck wanting to train with the guy who gave Ash a spark filled and heated battle ⚡️🔥 Each Gym Trainer has a particular specialty/quality that stands out among them. -Riley represents both the Attack and Special Attack stats alongside his signature Lucario and his other Pokémon too, much like in the games. Riley also represents working alongside his Pokémon as one, much like when they saved Iron Island from Team Galactic. -Buck represents the Defence and Special Defence. -Nando represents the coordination in the teamwork between him and his Pokémon, as well as the Pokémon towards each other. In fact, his battle will be a double battle. He even uses Weather conditions like Sunny Day. -Barry represents the sheer speed, fast reflexes, and persistent all-out attacks. Much like Riley, Barry favours direct approaches, but is also an expert at using his speed to keep up with and evade, or even countering attacks. -Conway represents the cunning, strategic, tactical knowledge of Pokémon inside and outside the battle, both with his own Pokémon and his opponents. Much like Buck, he seems to favour the defensive, tactical approach/strategy, but is also good at exploiting openings. I definitely had to include Nando, Barry, and Conway, especially seeing them alongside Paul in the Sinnoh League Victors opening. Once the challengers get to challenging Paul, IF they manage to reach Paul, they’ll have to deal with all of these strengths and skills at once against full team of 6 Pokémon. The theme of Paul’s Gym is balance, balance in one’s team, in battling styles and strategies, as well as attributes like Attack, Defence, Speed, as well as Specials Attack and Defence, even balance in one’s mindset. I can imagine most of Paul’s Gym battle layouts for his Gym Trainers will be in 3vs3 battles, save for the 2vs2 double battle with Nando, much like either the competitive battles with other players in the games, or in the Battle Frontier. 3vs3 is exactly how the Sinnoh League format was until Paul’s Top 8 6vs6 matchup with Ash onwards. Even during Paul’s introduction, he stated that 3vs3 is the best way to see what kind of Pokémon a trainer is good at working with, and what kind of balance they got. For that reason, it makes perfect sense for Paul to have an all-type Gym. I can imagine Paul using a balance of each of the teams you’ve selected as well! Drapion, Honchcrow, either Gliscor or Garchomp, Magmortar, Torterra, and Electivire. Or heck, if Paul wants to prepare challengers if they aim to challenge the Elite 4, potentially Cynthia as well, I can see Paul battling with Drapion, Ninjask, Torterra, Magmortar, Metagross, AND Garchomp! If Paul trained a team to prepare Ash for the Masters’ 8, I can definitely see him using a team to prepare his challengers for the Elite 4 and Champion in his Gym. These teams I think would be perfect for him to establish himself as the strongest Gym Leader, not only in Sinnoh, but likely worldwide as well! Once the challenger reaches Paul, Paul remarks: “………..Hmph. You certainly took your sweet time getting here………If it took you THIS long, I take it you got through my Trainers? Not bad at all, but the real battle’s about to start. Do you know why I chose those trainers? They each specialize in their own particularly battling style, and they use a multitude of different types of Pokémon instead of focusing solely on a single type. Most Gyms all-around the world solely specialize in one specific type of Pokémon, and create their teams based on that one type, like Rock, Water, Grass, Electric, and so on. Members of the Elite 4, and even some Champions also tend to favour a certain type. Of course, that’s not always the case, and won’t always be the case whenever you challenge someone, or when you yourself are challenged to a full battle. There’s obviously other factors in how a battle can play out, besides the type of Pokémon a trainer uses. Attack, Defence, Special Attack, Special Defence, and Speed, as well as accuracy and evasion are also important things to keep in mind while battling opponents’ Pokémon, as well as training your own. Battling a trainer with at least a few Pokémon the best way to see what kind of Pokémon they’re good at working with, and what kind of balance they’ve got. THAT is what this Gym is for 😠 If you want to challenge the Elite 4 and potentially defeat our Regional Champion, you should know that she knows this better than most, and it’s part of why she’s such a distinguished Champion, even among others. Each of my Trainers I’ve chosen for this Gym understand it too, and they each excel in at bringing out the best in their Pokémon for those situations, and excel in their own particular area. You oughta remember each field, since you’ll now have to face them all at once! You ready?” Then the challenger will have the option to regroup in case they don’t feel ready. But if they do, then Stand By For Battle! (I don’t know if my text for Paul is exactly how Paul would say it, or in the exact manner, but it’s definitely the topic I can see him talking about) There’s also another thing to consider: In the anime, only the challenger is normally allowed to substitute their Pokémon mid-battle, but in the games, Gym Leader are actually allowed to switch out their Pokémon. Naturally in the anime, only the challenger is allowed to substitute. But if we’re basing the potential Pokémon Gym layout and theme based from the games, we can also follow the games’ allowance for the Gym Leader to switch out their Pokémon. As for the Gym badge for Paul to reward his challenger if they actually manage to beat him, I’m thinking of making the badge for his Gym the Grounded Badge. The Balance badge has already been taken by Petalburg, so I’m thinking maybe the Grounded badge is a good choice. Grounded meaning well-balanced and sensible. The design could be maybe like the Badge designed/based off of the map of the Sinnoh region itself! The land of the region could make a great base for the shape of the badge, and the rims of it could be blue like the ocean, the top can be snowy like the mountains, Mt. Coronet could be in the middle, the landscapes a beautiful green, etc. I think my idea could personally use some finishing touches, but I definitely think it’s a good baseline for what Paul’s Gym could be like.

Finally having finished the dlc from half a year ago, I went back to Toby's last videos that I had to skip for spoilers, and ending it with this video that he once tweeted out. Oh man, that gave me a big smile, and some tears at the very end. I've been watching him since 2016, I think it was about a year after his first video, and always watched his stuff since then. After 2018 my interest in pokemon and its community started to decline (read: I still liked it, but I wasn't as obsessed anymore). Right now I only really followed Toby anymore, and occasionally Luke when a new game or dlc comes around, so it feels like a bigger kind of ending to me personally as well. I can agree with all the things people in this video have said, his passion and quality were something else out there, and I really wanna thank him for that. I don't regret my times with pokemon and its community at all, having formed plenty of important friendships and even more along the way. Thanks so much for making this tribute video, I think I needed this at this point <3

Quaquaval, Tinkaton, Orocorio, Mareanie, Indeedee and Zoroa would be preferred team. Orocorio could have a crush on/look up too Quaxly/Quaxwell/Quaquavals for their dancing ability or otherwise just be a dance partner. Mareanie matches up with Dot's personality. Indeedee could act like a nanny to Dot in an attempt to make her happy much to her exasperation and Zorua is described as being a timid Pokémon and that being what gave it its ability to transform into other things. I could see an episode where we have a where Dot get to teach Zorua to be more comfortable with itself in a similar way that pre-Iono battle episode had her learn that.

These would definitely make some interesting picks and additions! Hearing more about Dot and listening to these choices honestly made me think of some other Pokémon that could be good additions to their teams. While we’re on the topic of Pokémon Ash never catched, I can see Dot with either a Snover or Hippopotas, particularly a Snover, because there was that one episode where a wild Snover was lonely, and befriended Ash and friends. It could also allow her to explore even more of the outside, especially where it’s snowy ❄️ Snow is the kind of weather you don’t always see very often, and it’s just one of those weathers, even if it gets very cold, it’s just a special kind of weather As for Liko, I could definitely see her with an Altaria, especially one that could potentially Mega Evolve, as it becomes a Fairy type upon Mega Evolution, which would be handy against Rayquaza. Since May never got a Swablu/Altaria, it would definitely be cool for Liko to have one.

I LOVE STEEL TYYYYPPPES!!! Sorry, I just had to 😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣 I definitely love your steel type choices. Though I hope you got your Gym Trainers (and challengers) earmuffs for those cannons 💥😂 My team for my Steel type Pokemon Gym: Ferrothorn, Corviknight, Mega Lucario, and Copperajah that can Gigantimax. Ferrothorn’s moveset: Gyro Ball for STAB and powerful hits against fast enemies, Stealth Rock as an entry hazard and to deal potential damage to Fire type Pokémon, Power Whip for STAB and for coverage against Ground types, and Bulldoze for coverage against Fire types. Iron Barbs will be Ferrothorn’s ability. Corviknight’s moveset: Iron Head for STAB, Light Screen for protection against Special Attacks, Drill Peck for STAB, and Leer to reduce opponent’s defence. Corviknight’s ability will be Mirror Armour to bounce stat reducing moves or abilities back at the opponent. Corviknight will also have Light Clay to extend the duration of the Light Screen. Mega Lucario’s moveset: Aura Sphere for STAB and guaranteed hits, Steel Beam for Steel STAB, Earthquake for coverage against Fire type moves, and Ice Punch for coverage against Ground types. And Copperajah’s moveset: Iron Head for STAB, Earthquake for coverage against Fire types, Power Whip for Ground and Water type coverage, and Iron Defence for strong defence boosts. Gigantimax Copperajah’s movesets will therefore be Max Steelspike, Max Quake, and Max Overgrowth. Although I’m not sure what this means for Iron Defence Gigantimaxed. This Gym will be in the Galar Region, and it’ll be the final Gym before you battle Raihan. The layout of the Gym Challenge will be similar to that of a construction zone, similar to the one in Grand Theft Auto 5, and similar to the Gym in Canalave City, but with trying to solve a certain puzzle to unlock a certain door…unlocking all the locks, and opening the door, almost like the doors to Iram of the Pillars in Uncharted 3, with two statues of Pokémon, one being Rhyperior, the other being Aggron, opening the door. You’ll battle construction workers to gain access to certain machinery to move/control a mechanic of the Pokémon, whether to turn their head to the side of the door, use one of their arms closest to grab the door, the farther arm to grab the door afterwards, and then when both Pokémon are facing each other with both arms on the door, there’s one final switch that opens the door! It has to be in a specific order though, one arm each to grip the door first, then turn their heads to face each other, then the Pokémon turning to reach their other arms to the door, and finally, open sesame. It has to be in that order though. Otherwise, the statues will reset to their original place. Essentially, you need to find the correct order of which controls which piece, and how the order exactly goes. The Gym Trainers’ teams you’ll be battling will be Skarmory Scizor and Steelix, Galarian Meowth and Perrserker, Aggron and Bastiodon, Doublade and Aegislash, Magnezone and Metagross, Galarian Stunfisk and Excadrill Once you open the door, the door is opened, and you’ll be granted entry to battle against me, the Gym Leader of Galar’s newfound Steel type Gym! If you can defeat my team of toughly honed Steel type warriors, you will be awarded the Tempered Badge! In addition, you will also be awarded the TR Iron Head! And I will also tell you where to find the Move Tutor for Steel Beam.

It’s definitely cool seeing trainers having the same species (or even the same type of Pokémon, even if the species are different) of Pokémon but with different movesets. It’s especially cool when the movesets really suit the trainer. -Like Professor Kukui’s Lucario knowing Close Combat and Dragon Pulse, two very powerful moves that Lucario naturally learns from lots of growth and experiences, and pack the kind of punch you’d expect from Masked Royal 🎭🔥 -Or Ash’s Lucario knowing Bullet Punch which suits Ash’s speedy and offensive battling style. I know, it sounds weird using the word offensive in a different context than it sounds 😅

I think you meant Paul’s Torterra using Stone Edge, right? I’m not even sure if Ash’s Torterra learned Stone Edge itself. That would’ve been cool though. Would’ve made a good counter-shield, and might’ve made its only hope/chance at getting even with Honchcrow 🐦‍⬛🪨

I still wish Ash caught a Hatterene, and this episode would’ve been a good opportunity to do so! I could even picture that once Ash catches it, Misty teases him a little bit, while congratulating him for catching it, she says if Ash caught Hatterene, I guess he doesn’t need this anymore, and she swipes Ash’s hat and takes off with it leading to Ash chasing to get it back like with Primeape and Aipom 🧢😂 That honestly would’ve been funny 🤣 Plus, it would bring back some classic OG slapstick. It could also spark a comment from Brock, saying “I guess if if it’s not Primeape or Aipom, it’s Misty. Eh, Ash?” It could lead to Ash laughing it off and saying “I guess that’s true 😅” and then remarking that it’s been a while since he’s seen either of them. It could’ve lead to him reuniting with the two Pokémon.

Great gym as always! If there was one thing I would change though, or if I had at least one criticism, it would be towards both Milotic AND Gyarados having Rain Dance, when only one really needs it if they are both battling alongside each other in a double battle. If I were to change one thing, instead of having Rain Dance, Gyarados could have Crunch instead, since Mega Gyarados is a Dark type, which would give Crunch the STAB bonus. And maybe Milotic could have the Damp Rock to extend the duration of its own Rain Dance. Those would have to be my only criticisms for this Gym though. The rest of the Water Gym is fantastic as always. My Water type Gym will be in the Johto region, just around the Safari Zone! My origins as the Gym Leader will be from the Hoenn region, but I’ve found a great new home in Johto, and a perfect place for my Water type Gym. It’ll be recommend either before or after you battle Chuck in Cianwood. My Water type Pokémon Gym Team: Lapras, Simipour, and Mega Swampert. Lapras’ moveset: Blizzard and Surf for STAB as well Blizzard having Grass type coverage, Hail for hailstorms to chip damage and guaranteed accuracy for Blizzard, and Bulldoze for some coverage against Electric type moves. Shell Armour will be its ability, to protect it from Critical Hits. Hail can also carry over once Simipour enters the battle, in case it needs to use Blizzard right off the bat. In addition, Lapras will have an Icy Rock to extend the duration of Hail. Simipour’s moveset: Blizzard for coverage against Grass type moves, Scald for STAB and to potentially burn an opponent, Brine for STAB as well as serious damage to Pokémon already half-exhausted, and Rain Dance to boost Water type moves, and to potentially carry over to my following Ace Pokémon with Mega Evolution. Simipour will also have a Damp Rock to increase the duration of Rain Dance. Mega Swampert’s moveset: Aqua Tail for STAB, Earthquake for STAB, Ice Punch for Grass type coverage, and Rain Dance to boost Water type Pokémon, boosting Mega Swampert’s speed. My Water type Gym design: It will either be almost like a water park, or a pirate shipyard…haven’t decided which yet. But pirate shipyard could make a good Alolan Trial 🏴‍☠️ I’ll probably stick with the water park. At the start of the Gym, contrary to plenty of other Gyms where you have to start at the bottom, and make your way upwards, in my Water type Gym, you climb the stairs all the way to the top, and try to find the right way/selection of slides to make your way down to the Gym Leader! It might seem like a fun, relaxing, exciting water park fun time, but at the end of each slide, you’ll probably find a Gym Trainer! Here’s the kicker: Some of them have Pokémon that can Mega Evolve. If you slide to a platform with no slide down, then you’ll have to climb/walk the stairs all the way back up to where you last were, or where there last were available slides. Many of the trainers will have plenty of Tentacool and a Tentacruel, some Quagsire, Krabby and Kingler, West and East coasts of Gastrodon but with some different movesets, Floatzel, Pelipper, Vaporeon, Milotic and Gyarados as well as one Mega Gyarados, Whiscash, some heavy Octillery…sorry, I just had to make a pun 😂, Clawitzer, Lombre and Ludicolo, Sharpedo as well as a Mega Sharpedo, the Sharpedo will be battling alongside a reformed Archie from Team Aqua who’s both a life guard, and Gym Trainer, who you’ll face towards the end, but he will be present for all the battles against the Gym Trainers to look out for the Pokémon on the battlefield which will be like one of the water type battlefields in a Pokémon tournament. Eventually, you’ll reach the bottom of the Gym, with me as the Gym Leader! I welcome the challenger with a smile, and announce: “Welcome to my Gym! I trust you enjoyed your ride? I imagine it must’ve been a nice change of pace from the travelling it took to get here, and the Gym challenges you’ve had so far, and will face in the challenges to com. We all need a little escape in our lives, away from the stresses of every day life, and what better way than enjoying a fun day at the water park? Work-life balance is the most important thing. What better way to make a Gym an enjoyable experience than to turn it into something fun from beginning to end? This gives my challengers a perfect opportunity to grow as trainers, and enjoy life alongside their Pokémon at the same time. The Mega Evolutions you might’ve faced here today are just one example of how far a trainer and Pokémon can go. In order to achieve Mega Evolution, a trainer must have a strong bond with their Pokémon. Happiness can be a powerful thing. Let me show you just how far it can go.” If you can defeat my Water type trio, including my Mega Swampert, you will be rewarded the Flow Badge, which will essentially be like a surf board riding a beautiful wave 🌊 Also, you will also be rewarded the TM Rain Dance.

Had a feeling there’d be a starter lineup in this Gym 😁 I don’t blame you either. I had the exact same idea. There’s lots that a Pokémon Gym could potentially do with a starter Pokémon lineup. My two potential teams for my Grass type Pokémon Gym. My first thought team: Breloom, Leafeon, Torterra, and Mega Sceptile Breloom’s moveset: Seed Bomb for STAB, Thunder Punch for Flying type coverage, Stone Edge for Fire coverage and additional Flying coverage (especially assuming Stone Edge can still be shot in the air while a Pokémon is flying), and either Drain Punch for STAB and to recover health, or as an unorthodox method of healing, using Sludge Bomb on itself to heal using its Poison Heal ability. Leafeon’s moveset: Leaf Blade for STAB, Dig for Fire and Poison type coverage, Swords Dance for Attack boosts, and Rock Smash for Ice type coverage. Leafeon’s ability will be Chlorophyll, to boost its speed in Sunny weather, and Leafeon was already pretty fast before. Torterra’s moveset: Reflect for protection against Physical moves, Seed Bomb for STAB, Earthquake for STAB as well as to cover Fire and Poison type weaknesses, and Stone Edge to cover Ice and Flying types. Torterra will also have Light Clay equipped to increase the duration of Reflect’s barrier. Mega Sceptile’s moveset: Leaf Blade and Dragon Pulse for STAB, Iron Tail for Ice and Fairy type coverage, and Frenzy Plant for additional STAB and for an all-out move, as well as to show how far the bond between trainer and starter Pokémon can go, and how a trainer and Pokémon’s bond can do great things! On top of Mega Evolution, Frenzy Plant is another of signification of the bond between a starter Pokémon, and their trainer. My second team and moveset that I thought of while selecting the Gym Trainers’ Pokémon: Venusaur, Meganium, Torterra, and Mega Sceptile. Venusaur moveset: Toxic Spikes to set up a poison battlefield, Venoshock for Poison STAB and to do exponential damage to poisoned opponents, Giga Drain for STAB and to recover health, and Petal Dance for STAB and a barrage of attacks in one move. Venusaur will have a Persim berry to recover from its confusion after Petal Dance Meganium’s moveset: Reflect and Light Screen to reduce damage taken from Defence and Special Defence respectively (and gives the toxic spikes plenty of time to take run their course), Energy Ball for STAB, and Flash to reduce an opponent’s accuracy to make attacks harder to land. Meganium will also have Light Clay like Torterra. For Torterra and Mega Sceptile…same movesets as before 🍃 I’ve also thought about putting Roserade in Venusaur’s place, with mostly the same moveset. And Trevenant in Meganium’s place to make full use of its Ghost type status, and to use Hex on the poisoned opponents. Their respective movesets would be: -Roserade’s: Venoshock for STAB and bonus damage if opponent is poisoned, Toxic Spikes to set up poison, Giga Drain for STAB and health recovery, and Petal Dance for STAB and a massive assault 🌺 Roserade also has a Persim Berry to heal its confusion after using Petal Dance 🌺 -Trevenant’s: Phantom Force for STAB and two part moves that give Toxic to run its course, Wood Hammer for STAB, Horn Leach for STAB and to recover health, and Hex for STAB as well as double damage on Status conditions like Poison. After seeing your lineup though, I thought about adding Abomasnow. I’d definitely love to make full use of the Hail to include Aurora Veil. But maybe I’ll save that for an Ice Gym. The next half of my comment, surrounding the details of the Gym itself will be in the reply, just in case KZbin doesn’t let me post the entirety for being too long. I can promise you though, as a Gym Leader, I definitely won’t be Erika 😂 especially not the Erika from the anime. THAT Erika was horrible.

This Gym will be in the Hoenn region, recommended before battling Winona of Fortress City. The Gym’s design, exterior will be like a greenhouse, and the interior will be kind of like a park, with the big forest like pathways often around parks, and a maze, and it’s quite huge with many different routes, some include having to walk on fallen trees. Some routes lead to dead ends with trainers spotting you, some lead to other trainers, and the maze eventually leads to me. I can promise you though, there won’t be any perfume…or even if some Gym Trainers do have some, and if the challengers are vocal about their disdain for perfume, the Gym Trainers won’t kick you out of the Gym. Erika from Celadon and her friends should take notes. Even if there are any rude or insensitive challengers, Gym rules are Gym rules. A Gym Leader should stay true to their position and accept challenges if they are able to. The Gym trainers’ Pokémon will include Gloom as well as Vileplume and Bellossom, lineups of Nuzleaf as well as a Shiftry, lineups of Lombre as well as a Ludicolo, Sunflora, Victreebell, Grovyle, Cacnea and Cacturne, Roselia and Roserade, lineups of Skiddo and Deerling as well as their evolutions of Gogoat and Sawsbuck, Scovillain, Tangela and even a Tangrowth, and if these three aren’t in my Gym Leader team, there’s even a Venusaur that can use Venoshock and Toxic Spikes, as well as a Meganium that can use Light Screen, and Trevenant that can use Hex! Those last three in particular will really test your endurance, and ability to take down said Pokémon before the potential poison becomes a problem. Once you reaches my spot, you’ll see me tending to some herbs and medicines, a garden! I welcome you, and ask if your Pokémon are feeling healthy. I point out that they must be feeling tuckered out after all that battle, especially if they battled any opponent who can inflict status conditions. Moments like those really remind you to focus on health, and safety, and to look after those close to you. Not just with HP, but also with Power Points, Status Conditions, Stat Boosts and Reductions alike, etc. In addition to Pokémon’s physical health, it’s also important to pay attention to their mental and emotional well-being too, as sometimes, Pokemon don’t always feel confident in themselves, and need reassurance to know they aren’t alone. This is important for any Pokémon trainer, as although many trainers train, what’s most important is the bond and trust between them that allows them to excel together. I will demonstrate that firsthand, with a Pokémon Gym battle, with a key signature that proves it. If you can overcome my team, you will be rewarded with the either the Petal Badge shaped after a Rose 🌹 In addition, you’ll also be rewarded with two of 5 choices TMs, you can choose either Light Screen or Reflect, and either Seed Bomb, Energy Ball, or a move I haven’t used, but you could potentially use perfectly, Solar Beam ☀️

I love the version exclusive twist! Perfect touch too, cause many of the two versions include a Red and Blue aesthetic, and Blaziken and Lucario suit that formula perfectly, especially since they were both pretty big in X and Y! My team for my Fighting type Pokémon Gym: Sirfetch’D, Pangoro, Infernape, and Mega Lucario 👊 -Sirfetch’d’s moveset: Iron Defence for defence boosts to make it even tougher to physically damage, Brick Break for STAB, Brutal Swing for Psychic and Ghost type coverage, and Poison Jab for Fairy and Grass Type coverage. -Pangoro’s moveset: Ice Punch for Flying type coverage, Drain Punch for STAB and health recovery, Bullet Punch for coverage against Fairy types and to attack first, and either Foul Play, Payback, or Darkest Lariat for Dark STAB. I honestly wish Pangoro could learn Sucker Punch. It would fit perfectly both with its Dark Type, and its Iron Fist ability. Plus, it’d be a perfect move to allow it to strike first. -Infernape’s moveset: Fire Punch for STAB, Thunder Punch for Flying and Water type coverage, and Drain Punch and Power Up Punch, for STAB, and respective abilities to drain opponent’s health, and boost physical attack. Its ability will be Iron Fist, like Pangoro. I also wanted to add Blast Burn 💥🔥 but it just might destroy the Gym…again -Mega Lucario’s moveset: Aura Sphere for STAB and guaranteed hits, Drain Punch for STAB and to drain opponent’s stamina, Flash Cannon for STAB, and Ice Punch for coverage against Flying and Ground types. The Gym will be in the Kanto region, in Dark City, the city with the Kas and Yas Gyms. I don’t remember if the Gyms united as one, if they co-exist peacefully, or if they moved elsewhere, or disbanded entirely 🤔 I don’t remember if it was clarified, but I think Ash made a positive influence on them, encouraging them to be better people, and I like to think the Kas and Yas Gym Leaders, as well as their Gym trainers reformed as people entirely. Either way, they will be included in this Gym, and became upstanding, constructive Gym Leaders, after their heart to heart with Tom Ato…I mean-Ash 😅😂 They decided to unite as one Gym, and even dedicate to protecting the city, and support the community there. They’ve decided invite me, a trainer who’s competed in two Battle Frontiers, and travelled across several different regions, and eventually seen some of the televised events I’ve competed in, whether Leagues or Tournaments. I’ve had many victories, but I’ve had my share of losses too, against certain opponents. Nevertheless, they notice my preferred battling style. Seemingly direct, honest battling, but having underlying sense of strategy at the same time, with coverages against opponents with type advantages or even stat advantages, and notice a distinct way that Fighting type Pokémon trainers love to battle during my battling. They notice my Lucario and Infernape as well, and realize I must be from the Sinnoh region, to have an Infernape, as they’ve seen Ash and Infernape compete in the Sinnoh League, against a powerful Electivire that motivated Kas to evolve his Electabuzz. As I accept their invite, they challenge me to a Pokémon battle. Although I come out on top, Kas and Yas’ teamwork were impeccable! You’d never guess they used to be bitter enemies. The battle even creates an explosion that destroys the roof of their Gym, mirroring the battle between Infernape and Electivire from the Sinnoh League, as well as reminding me of what happened to my friend’s Gym in Veilstone City! Pleased with my performance, as well and proud of their own growth, they notice I have a fierceness, that doesn’t know when to hold back. Not only do they offer/request me to a place in at Gym, they offer to appoint me as the Gym Leader of the entire Gym 👊 if I agree to join. I accept their offer, and I realize they do have a point on my lack of self-restraint, as it literally blew the roof off 😅 So accepting this offer, I also have to help rebuild the Gym, the same way they took responsibility for the damage I caused, and rebuilt the city they damaged long ago. As the building is rebuilt, the Gym layout will be as it used to be, similar to that of a traditional Japanese house, but with many different rooms, and a centre room with the battlefield! The Gym is almost like a Dojo, for the Gym Trainers to train, as well as help aspiring trainers to help grow alongside their Pokémon, and learn to trust each other through training, as some people in Dark City are still a little weary around Pokémon, partly due to Kas and Yas’ past, but also the occasional gang coming to town with Pokémon involved, plus occasionally Team Rocket 🚀 Anyway, getting to the layout of the Gym: as a huge Japanese house like Dojo, with many rooms. The Gym Challenger’s goal is to try and find the Gym Leader! He will be in one of the rooms. Much like the Petalburg Gym, only in this case, it’s not a straight road. There’s several rooms behind each of 3 of the 4 walls, except for the entrance. The entrance will be either on the West or East side of the Gym. My quarters will be on the North side, but the Challenger doesn’t know this until either they reach my quarters, or they find and defeat Kas and Yas in a double battle against their respective Electivire and Scizor. During your battle with them, the Kanto Gym Leader music plays. If you defeat them, they hint my location! My room is located in that which points is closest to the Sinnoh region. It’ll be at the far side of one of the rooms, at the back, facing North. Many of the Gym Leaders will have Fighting type Pokémon. Many of whom consists of Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, Hitmontop, Primeape, Poliwrath, Machoke and Machamp, Sawk and Throh, Gurdurr, Hawlucha, Pancham, Galarian Farfetch’D, Graploct, Crabrawler, Grabominable, some trainers might have them individually or in a lineup, or several in their same party. Many of these Fighting type Pokémon I caught myself, for the Pokémon Gym. Many of them also have at least one move coverage against potential weaknesses. (I’d include Hariyama and Medicham, but to be honest, I completely forgotten about those two until I saw them in your Gym’s lineup 😅 I definitely don’t feel I deserve to include those two after completing overlooking them) If the challenger finds my room/quarters, they’ll see me training alongside my Lucario! I’ll have headphones in my ears, listening to music, partly to get the extra adrenaline pumping and extra motivation fuel, but also so I can focus on training, and get myself and Lucario warmed up for an upcoming Gym Battle, and so nearby battles in the Gym don’t distract me. Additionally, the music keeps me from hearing commands from the challenger, so I don’t know which Pokémon they use. That way, we both head into our battles not knowing each other’s Pokémon, besides the challenger knowing I have Lucario (but not knowing he can Mega Evolve). That way, it’s a fair, honest battle for both of us. Anyway, getting to interact with my challenger, I remark: “So you’ve made it this far. You must’ve either battled through many to get here, or…you guessed I would be around here. So let me ask…which is it? If you’ve only battled a small handful, you might want to go back, in case you have a little unfinished business. Or if you’ve taken at least a couple of handfuls, you must’ve battled my two strongest trainers of this Gym. And if that’s the case, I trust you’ve rested your Pokémon before coming here? In my Gym, it’ll take a guard being up at all times, and preparing for the unexpected, and to expect the impossible to be able to truly challenge my Gym. You never know what’ll strike.” Before I finish that last sentence, Lucario is holding a board that looks like a sign to the challenger, and as I finish the last sentence, I punch through the board, breaking it without making contact with the challenger, but making it close enough to scare the challenger, potentially making them collapse from the sheer shock. Once they head off to rest their Pokemon at the Pokémon Center, Lucario and I decide to unwind, and rest a little bit ourselves, before the Gym Battle. We decide to listen to some soothing music, to relax 😊😇 The music will either be the kind of music that plays in Jubilife City, or in Eterna Forest 🌲 It’s calming, peaceful, and soothing, and helps us relax after a lengthy period of training while the challenger challenged our Gym. Then, once the challenger returns, the battle will begin with everyone in attendance! A 4vs4, with only the challenger allowed to substitute their Pokémon. The battle will also play with the signature Sinnoh Gym Leader theme song, as I start off with a calling card: “Sirfetch’D, STAND BY FOR BATTLE!” But eventually, if the challenger progresses through the battle, or if it gets too intense, it’ll play the signature music that often plays for Paul, and maybe…just maybe, Ash’s Greninja’s music plays for Mega Lucario. If they can defeat my team of powerful Fighting type Pokémon, they will be rewarded the Guardian badge, shaped almost like Lucario, with the same colour too! In addition, the challenger will be awarded with the TM for Drain Punch! A move that recovers a Pokémon’s lost stamina, and packs a punch to boot 🥊 This will be the Gym recommended one to battle either before or after battling Blaine of Cinnabar 🌋 and before the Viridian Gym as well, depending on who the new Viridian Gym Leader is.

I hate to make a pun like this, but this Gym is literally fire! 🔥 I always love your Gym layouts and designs, team lineups, and stories behind them! Truth be told, it’s thanks to these videos, as well as your Alolan Island Trials, and the video on Paul’s potential Pokémon Gym team, that gave me the inspiration I needed to think of my own ideas for Pokémon Gyms! Although I’ve always loved the idea and feeling of Gym Battles, especially in the anime, these videos gave me a deeper insight in appreciating both sides of the Pokémon gyms, from the anime, AND from the games! My main team for my Fire type Pokémon Gym: Chandelure, Magmortar, Blaziken, and Mega Charizard Y. -Chandelure’s moveset: Minimize, Calm Mind, Shadow Ball, Mystical Fire. Its ability will be Infiltrator to bypass its opponents barriers and substitutions. -Magmortar’s moveset: Flamethrower for STAB, Thunderbolt for Water type coverage, Scorching Sands for Rock type coverage, and Sunny Day for boosting Fire type moves and reducing Water type moves. -Blaziken’s moveset: Thunder Punch for Flying and Water type coverage, Blaze Kick for STAB, Bulk Up for Attack and Defence boosts, and Shadow Claw for Psychic and Ghost type coverage. Its ability will be Speed Boost. -Mega Charizard Y’s moveset: Air Slash and Flamethrower for STAB, Solar Beam for Water and Rock type coverage, and Focus Blast for additional Rock type coverage in case the weather isn’t sunny from Sunny Day or Drought. Its ability will as Mega Charizard Y will be Drought, to turn the weather into a heatwave, boosting Fire type moves, and instantly charging up Solar Beams ☀️ I was tempted to have my Charizard evolve into Mega Charizard X for my Gym, partly cause it’s really cool, and would make a great challenge, as well as prepare you for a Dragon Tamer Gym Leader (as well as potentially a Dragon Tamer Champion) But since I’m doing a Fire type Gym and not a Dragon type Gym, I’m going to try and stay true to the Fire theme, and represent what I think feels truer to representing a Fire type Gym 🔥 Plus, I feel Charizard Y’s Drought ability suits this Gym more than Charizard X’s Tough Claws. This Fire type Gym will be in the Johto region! The design and layout of the Gym will be inspired partly of the Tower of Mastery from Shalour City, but with a Johto inspired background and structure, like with the Bell and Burned Towers of Ecruteak, or Sprout Tower of Violet 🏯 This will be the recommended Gym before challenging Clair of Blackthorn City 🐉 The Tower will consist of hot ground on the bottom floor. The interior will almost be like a volcano, with similar mountainous/volcanic land, but instead of straight up lava, as you gradually climb up the tower, fire will suddenly shoot up from the bottom floor, around the pillars holding the stadiums up, and close enough to the stairway to potentially scare the challengers. It will also light up the little braziers on the sides of the stairways. As you reach an upper floor, you face a Gym Trainer on said floor, on a battlefield strong enough to hold the battle, surrounded by flames 🔥 The process repeats itself upon each triumph. After your first victory, you’re presented a choice between different stairways, leading to different floors, with some having Gym Trainers, others not. You can choose to go back if you walk to a floor with no trainers, if you wish to challenge them. The Gym Trainers Pokémon lineups in attendance to the floors will be: Arcanine and NineTails for the first floor, Camerupt and Torkoal for one of the second floors, another Talonflame, Pyroar, and Simisage for one of the third floors, and Houndoom, Flareon, and Typhlosion for the other of the third floor. Finally, you’ll face one more floor that stands in your way, with a Gym trainer who’ll have a Typhlosion, and a Charizard. If you make it to the top of the tower, you’ll be greeted with a friendly welcome by me, the Gym Leader! I note that you’ve been climbing all this way, and that you must be exhausted, alongside your Pokémon as well. Then I offer you a warm, tasty drink, much like Avatar’s Iroh offers Tea 🍵 In addition, I also offer you and your Pokémon a bite to eat, and a place for your Pokémon to rest for a little bit, so their strength and stamina are restored 🛏️ This warm and friendly disposition from the Gym Leader, as well as the peaceful and lukewarm environment are quite different from the intensity of the volcanic like road to get there, and hot-blooded, fiery tempered trainers of the Gym. In addition, you also notice a pyre dedicated to honouring to the Legendary Ho-Oh, the Rainbow Pokemon who gave life to three ancient Pokémon. As I share a drink and meal with my challenger, I note it’s always important to enjoy a nice meal, and to take a moment to rest after working so hard, and enduring quite a lot along the way. It’s easy to forget that despite all the heated battles along the way, fire can actually make your life a little easier when fire is handled right. Much like Aang and Zuko’s Firebending teachers said in Avatar: The Last Airbender, fire can mean life and provide for life. Fire isn’t always destruction. I then ask if my challenger has ever heard the legend of Raikou, Entei, and Suicune, and their connection to the Legendary Ho-Oh. If they haven’t, I share the story, that a fire once destroyed an ancient tower in Ecruteak City, and with it, took the lives of three beloved creatures. But then, a majestic Pokémon came, not only to restore the lives of the three creatures, but transcending them into who we know as Raikou, Entei, and Suicune. Ironic how a fire is responsible for both their tragic ends, as well as their fortunate rebirth. This is why I worship the Pokémon known as Ho-Oh, and also, while I acknowledge the potential dangers involving fire, I also believe there is plenty to appreciate about the element 🔥 Fire can destroy and harm if left unchecked, or more worryingly, if willfully intended. But fire can also provide light, a place to warm up if you’re feeling unbearably cold, a place to cook, etc. “Anyway, I digress. After all, the challenger came to my Gym for a Pokémon battle, to train their Pokémon, and earn a badge from my Gym 🔥 Then without ado” (I flip either a switch or lever as the roof of the tower opens up, and the roofing opens/blooms like a flower, and the top floor becomes an outdoor stadium for the Gym Battle. The battle will be a 4vs4, with only the challenger being allowed to substitute their Pokémon mid-battle. If you can defeat my Gym, and my team of Fire types, you will be awarded the Pyre badge! In addition, you will also be rewarded the TM Sunny Day, as well as the choice of either Flamethrower, or Solar Beam! Both great to have with Sunny Day ☀️ I’ll answer the questions you asked at the end in a reply to this comment. For some reason, KZbin won’t let me post the full comment I intended. I don’t know if it was because it made the comment too long, on top of everything else written, or if it was for a different reason, but I’ll add the final quarter or half of my original comment in a reply, to answer your questions, and to see if the comment will post.

To answer your questions, I’m actually glad you asked, cause it gives me a perfect opportunity to share my bit of insight on my thought process with my own Pokémon Gyms, from the locations I choose, how I recommend them for trainers, the advice I give as a Gym Leader, etc. For locations: My choices in locations always vary 🤔 There’s plenty of great places and Pokémon in many great regions, but I try to select places that we haven’t officially seen have Gyms of specific typings. In the anime, it’s apparent that there’s other Gyms outside of 8 we traditionally see in the games, and see Ash challenge. But we rarely see the ones outside those 8. There’s implication that some Gyms (that we haven’t seen) share the Type specialties of that of a member of the Elite 4 of said region too! So I try to select regions based on the lineup of typed Gyms a region has, then I try and develop a Gym with a specific Type outside of the 8 we already know of said Region. -For example, a Flying or Dragon type gym in the Sinnoh Region, which are neither types the Elite 4 specialize in, and are types we haven’t seen official Gyms for in said region. Or a Psychic type in Jubilife City, which shares a type the Elite 4 specializes in, but we haven’t seen an official Gym for. -Also, in Kanto in the anime, there is a Pokémon Gym in Dark City, the Yas Gym (and maybe the Kas Gym too, I don’t remember), which seems to specialize in Fighting type Gyms. A member of Kanto’s Elite 4 specializes in Fighting types. So it’s likely that there are other Gyms in regions that share a Type speciality with that of some of the Elite 4. For Pokémon: I choose whichever Pokémon I think lineup well, and make a good challenge for the challenger, as well as movesets that suit the Pokémon and challenge the trainers as best as possible. Also, I want the Pokémon to demonstrate the possibilities of said type! The beauties and wonders of said type, as well as the strategic value. My favourite Pokémon Gyms and Pokémon Gym Leaders: My favourite Gym Leaders in the Pokémon anime kind of have to be Brock and Paul by default 😂 Just because they’re two of the best characters there are in the anime 😎 Outside of those two though: Favourite Gym Leaders 🤔 -Roark from the Oreburgh Gym comes to mind, especially in the anime! He definitely left a good lasting impression as a Gym Leader in the anime. Strong in battle, can give the pressure of challenging a Gym, but also appreciative towards his Pokémon, and humble when bested. -Sabrina in the anime was also a beast! She was absolutely daunting, and her backstory was also a fascinating element. It would’ve been cool to see her again, and if Ash had an actual rematch with her and won on his own terms that time. -Grant, Olympia, Korrina, and many more from Kalos also stand out, both from the games, and anime! Grant was especially cool in the anime, although I prefer the rock climbing in the anime and real world, instead of as a tedious gameplay mechanic trying to climb to Grant and having to manually control the climbing. But that’s just me. Kalos Gyms in general for the most part were just awesome! The incredible layouts/interior designs, how it explores a deeper meaning into their types, etc. Not to mention, the awesome anime battles and characters’ roles! Even in the games, they have some great roles! -Also, I can’t leave out Blue of the Viridian Gym in the Johto games! Blue’s battling style and battling in general just screamed of dominance, and I actually needed quite a few revives and Max Revives just to stay in the battle! Truly felt like you were battling a former Champion! It didn’t do me any favours that the Gym Leaders in the games are ACTUALLY ALLOWED to switch out their Pokémon, and that Blue had a full team of 6 😭 Little bastard 👿 -In addition to the puzzle like Gym design of Viridian City, I also love the puzzle like Gym designs of Sunyshore City, Snowbelle City, and Sootopolis City. -I also always loved the interior to the Canalave City Gym, with those elevators, and the interior to the Veilstone Gym, where you had to punch the punching bags into the debris! Had a feeling of raw strength. Also, I always loved the Gym Leader battle music, across each region! Always gets me pumped. Just hearing it in this video gets me just as pumped as ever!

Hearing the Heroes of Hoenn music always brings back good memories! It’s always good to hear it played. I definitely miss Volt Tackle ⚡️ It was such an iconic move for Pikachu. It was even a huge part of what sparked the greatest rivalry in Pokémon ⚡️🧢😈 On top of that, because Volt Tackle was a risk or reward type of move, it always added real tension to whenever Ash and Pikachu used it, because you might not always know whether it’d pay off or not, if it would bring Ash a triumphant victory, or crushing defeat. It wasn’t exactly the same seeing Ash and Pikachu not using Volt Tackle anymore. I mean, I like Electroweb, don’t get me wrong, and I love the versatility Ash and Pikachu can use with it. But there’s just something special/impactful about Volt Tackle ⚡️

These are definitely nice moves for Gible to have. Although I do have to say, as cool as Gible learning Flamethrower would be, especially since I believe Ash’s Garchomp in Alola knows Fire Blast, I don’t think Gible needs Flamethrower if he has Iron Head, since Iron Head alone can cover its Ice type weakness. Speaking of Garchomp though, I think I have a pretty good moveset for Ash’s Gible for if he evolved into Garchomp! If Ash’s Gible evolved into Garchomp, my choice of moves for his potential Garchomp would be Draco Meteor (definitely has to keep that move after all the training and the payoff), Iron Tail, Stomping Tantrum, and Outrage! -Draco Meteor has to stay in his arsenal, after all the hard work and payoff they had mastering it. Heck, Garchomp could even follow Dragonite’s footsteps, and create a Garchomp Meteor…I know, it needs a better name 😅 -Iron Tail would be perfect for Ash’s Garchomp because we know Ash loves to use Iron Tail, and Ash can make full versatile use of the move with his Garchomp, potentially even moreso than he already does with Pikachu. I love to imagine! Plus, like Iron Head, it can cover his weakness against Ice and Fairy types. -Outrage would be a perfect all out move for Garchomp, for Dragon STAB, and continuous attacks with the use of one Outrage. Plus, although he ends up confused after using it, Ash being Ash could easily call his Pokémon to return to break the confusion, like he did in Hoenn, and the Battle Frontier. -Stomping Tantrum would be an excellent Ground STAB move, plus, if Ash’s previous attack either missed/failed, Stomping Tantrum’s attack power is doubled. Another reason why I chose Iron Tail as its Steel Type move, in case Iron Tail misses. Also, equally perfect if Garchomp just used Outrage and was at least momentarily affected by a Confused status, he could unleash a devastating Stomping Tantrum at double the power. I’d include a biting move, knowing Gible’s personality, but I honestly think these 4 moves would make a perfect moveset for Ash’s Garchomp. Besides I can definitely imagine Garchomp having the same nibbly personality/quirks he had as a Gible 😁 Like whenever Ash summons Garchomp or he wins a battle, it could just chomp on Ash’s head as if he were James 😂🚀 Dragonite gives Ash hugs, Garchomp gives him…well, chomps 😁

Acrobatics is a perfect move for Infernape! I spammed the hell out of that move while training my Infernape in Alpha Sapphire. I can just imagine Infernape using Acrobatics the same way it used Dig to tease Turtwig while it was still a Chimchar 😂 It’s honestly pretty hard for me to think of just one new moveset for Ash’s Infernape. I can think of a few different ones to make great use of Infernape’s abilities in different ways. If Ash wanted to go with a physical approach with Infernape, he could teach Infernape Agility, Thunder Punch, Power Up Punch, and either Flare Blitz or Agility to make maximum use of Infernape’s already incredible speed, Power Up punch for both STAB, and to power up its already powerful physical strength, Thunder Punch for coverage against Water and Flying types, and Fire Punch for STAB. Flare Blitz is iconic, but it’s quite risky, since it also damages Infernape, especially if it deals immense damage to its opponent. So Fire Punch would probably be my preferred choice to maintain Infernape’s battling abilities, as well as its own health. If Ash wanted to give Infernape a Special based moveset, he could keep Flamethrower, and teach Infernape Sunny Day, Solar Beam, and either Aura Sphere or Blast Burn 💥🔥 Sunny Day would power up Fire type moves and reduce power from Water types and other storm related moves like Hurricane 🌪️ Solar Beam would give Infernape coverage against Water and Ground types, Aura Sphere would be great for STAB, neutral damage, and guaranteed hits, and Blast Burn would make the ultimate move for Infernape, perhaps even moreso than Flare Blitz. Or if I were to switch up a few moves from its latest moveset, I’d keep Flare Blitz, but switch Flamethrower to Blast Burn, and I’ll switch Mach Punch for Drain Punch to recharge Infernape’s health if its needs a health recharge from overusing Flare Blitz, and I’ll switch Dig for either Agility for speed boosts, or Thunder Punch for coverage against Water and Flying. Or maybe I’ll drop Blast Burn from this moveset, so that in addition to Flare Blitz and Drain Punch, it can know both Agility AND Thunder Punch. Thinking of movesets is sometimes tough 😅 But it’s definitely fun.

I really need to check out Horizons, and catch up in general. But from what I’ve seen and heard from it so far, I think this would be a neat direction! Dot having a Rockruff/Lycanroc would definitely be cool! It would also tie in great with the family connection. Always love seeing those character dynamics with them having Pokémon that parallel each other, whether with rivals, family and friends, etc. I might not know much about Horizons or Dot, but from how she seems, I can see her having a Mimikyu, Scovillain, maybe a Galarian Yamask, the Deino lineup, Mareanie, just to name a few possibilities.
