Hey Pokemon Champions, what's going on?! It's Champion Blaze here and back in generation 1 of pokemon it was said that Mewtwo was the world's strongest pokemon. At the time, that was completely true. With only 151 pokemon only 5 were legendary, technically 1 being Mythical and Mewtwo had no rival other than Mew. But since then, 8 generations later, many more legendary pokemon have been discovered and many more pokemon could now be considered the world's strongest pokemon. But today we'll discuss why I believe Mewtwo is STILL the world's strongest pokemon even after all this time.

I always felt like Mewtwo X and Mewtwo Y was just Mewtwo choosing what DNA he wanted to use more. So Mewtwo X is when he goas more in to the Human side of his DNA and Mewtwo Y is when he uses more of his Mew/pokemon side of the DNA.

Yea i never understood why people dont think that. He seems like the only pokemon that can go beyond the limits of what any other pokemon can do. Like I always had the idea that he can bypass dark pokemon being immune to his psychic powers. Plus it just feels like he has a different type of psychic power compared to other psychic pokemon. I see Mewtwo as like Goku or something. Just continuously can get stronger.

Something notable about Mew is that it can perfectly transform into other legendarys and not just normal pokemon, even somehow transform into both Kyogre and Groudon at the same time. Meaning it's power is at least equal but likely greater than those legendary. It also easily defeated two Urshifus at the same time. We've also seen what an enraged Arceus bent on destroying humanity is capable of, and his destructive power is nowhere near as powerful as what some people want him to be. He was going around destroying small building and things of that level.

A few small corrections the storm MewTwo creates in the first film is intended to wipe out all humans and Pokémon leaving only clones left to take over the world. That casual hand waving legit started a storm to end the world. Even more notably is he maintains that storm with his physic abilities throughout the film and then blocked all the powers of his clones. Which means he was doing that while fighting Mew that is why they appear evenly matched. As for him creating matter from nothing that is likely him just teleporting the master balls to himself that he already made on the island when he rebuilt it.

@@MadHatter.Matador dark backstory wouldnt make it a dark type, a dark type characteristic would, such as "darkness energy", the "playing dirty" nature with things like sneak attacks and such, or straight up unconditional pure evil. Mewtwo doesnt really fit any of that, as it pretty much fights fairly and the evil actions all came from bad influence, tragic backstory and shift of perspective, and the end of movie pretty much confirms mewtwo was not really evil, just lost and had a twisted sense of reality before having a character development and deciding to be protector of pokemon

When Mewtwo first arrived in the games its stats and movepool were far above that of any normal pokemon, including the strongest ones. The creators of the show wanted to show that he's the strongest, even the anime they made sure to showcase just how powerful he is. Arceus is said to be the creator of all pokemon but in the games as well as the anime it was never the strongest, this proves that Mewtwo was meant to be the strongest pokemon ever but as the creators wanted more money obviously they had to create new '' stronger '' pokemon. Seriously, just look at how strong Mewtwo was in the game when it came out as well as the anime, it's the strongest pokemon and reigns supreme to this day.

It's just a case of people being so dumb that they can't understand context of what they read lol The phrase is meant to be a reffence to real life Darwin-Evolution (not Pokemon-Evolution, where it's more of an instant metamorphosis). Aka they are stating Mew is the common shared ancestor of Pokemon tree of life, just like how in the real world all life comes from microorganism that formed millions of years ago and then adapted into all of the different lifeforms we have now from Animals, to Plants, Mushrooms, Bacteria, etc. That "original cell" is Mew. That, however, obviously excludes a bunch of Pokemon that we *KNOW* are not related to Mew. Trubbish is just trash that came to life via X-Rays radiation. Arceus, Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, Uxie, Azelf, and Mesprit all predate Mew. The Ruinous Quartet were created out of objects being exposed to pure negative emotions. And so on with a bunch others etc, etc, etc. And that's not even taking into account the fact that any Alien mon would also be most likely unrelated to Mew. UBs too, as they come from entirely unrelated Dimensions.

It's a crime that the revelation that Mewtwo was created with human DNA was only mentioned in the manga. It's so integral to who he is as a character, his struggles, and even seen in the nature of his powers. Mewtwo being the strongest Pokémon mirrors man being the apex of predator of the animal kingdom. What sets him apart is the versatility of his powers (that he gets from Mew) and the ingenuity to use those powers in creative ways (that he gets from humans). We even see this duality in his personal struggles. He struggles with understanding his role in nature, whereas other Pokémon seem to understand this inherently. It also explains why he doesn't look like Mew and is more humanoid.

2 things are canon, the games and the anime. In the games mewtwo is with rayquaze the number 1. A case can be made that rayquaza is nr 1 because it can hold an item. In the anime lore arceus is god so has to be 1 then comes mewtwo. If you combine anime and games and you take the average mewtwo would be the undisputed nr 1. You touch on an interesting point not discussed enough by fans. The human component. To my knowledge Mewtwo is one of very few if not the only legendary that has been shown to have logic and reasoning. Maybe you can make a case for Lugia and others that managed to speak. However Mewtwo displayed an ability to create, to reason, and to have a consciousness. Anyone familiar with Planet of the Apes can grasp the concept of the question. What happens if you take a being that has abilities and adaptations superior to that of humans and you give them the power of consciousness? You have a being that can take over the world. Now imagine that concept on a being with telekinesis and telepathic abilities? There hasn’t been too many Pokémon that I’m aware of that have displayed consciousness and imagination. The very nature of what makes humanity so powerful in the first place. Mewtwo can probably out wit most of the more animalistic Pokémon Rayquaza, Palkia, Dialga, Reshiram etc. The only exception is maybe Lugia who in Pokémon 2000 was able to communicate but idk if that’s cannon or if it was actual consciousness. Perhaps it was just psychic ability allowing it to understand human speech.

Mew doesn’t need to die for a Mew fossil to exist. Especially since the fossil was an eyelash, there is a chance Mew got injured and lost the eyelash, which then fossilized.

Mewtwo from movie 1 and mewtwo return is shown to be much stronger that mewtwo in Genesect movie. Mewtwo didn't budge and simply deflect flamethrower from charizard and hyperbeam from gyarados. Mewtwo can create and controlled the weather shown in movie 1 and mewtwo return, only legendary with weather effect can do the same (Lugia and kyogre?) and mewtwo even caught ash and company when they felled from the cliff inside the bus and mewtwo simply caught them using his psychic power thru a tv? What a feat. Mewtwo can even erase memories and teleport mass amount of people and pokemon and even a whole spring water pool inside the mountain in mewtwo return. Mewtwo in genesect movie was so so in base and mega y was ok but doesn't seem strong enough and it's a completely different mewtwo. Well this is my opinion and base in the movie not games.

I'm just going to compress my comments into one here. The mewtwo specific data is at the bottom. The manga canon is effectively completely disconnected with the rest of the franchise. All Mythical Pokemon are Legendary pokemon, but not all legendary pokemon are mythical pokemon. Mythical Pokemon are a subset with greater requirements, albeit usually weaker. At what point did archeologists say death was required for fossilization? Dismemberment, shedding, molting, and so on are all _known_ things. We even get to see what happens when you try to _resurrect_ something that isn't dead thanks to the Jirachi movie. The Lab Mewtwo created wasn't a perfect copy of the lab it was created in, it is its own design. As for limiting the "abilities" (read as moves) of other pokemon, that's an upgraded Disable. M1 and M16 are NOT the same individual, and both are obviously stronger than the in-game counterpart. I'm not sure which is stronger though, M1 casually does so much, while M16 can mega evolve _and_ move so fast that time seems frozen.

He made them before hand and teleported them from somewhere in the castle 2. they were made by the scientists who made him and he teleported them from somewhere in the castle. of course, I could be wrong. he could of made them out of his own Psychic energy. Though that still wouldn't be matter construction. just energy conversion. Matter Construction is a truly OP skill that breaks the laws of universe, and only Arceus and the Unown are currently known to be capable of it

Whats crazy is the fact mewtwo would still be strongest pokemon even in the games if it wasnt severely nerfed after gen 1 💀it used to have 154 special defense stat which would make its total base stat 744, literally stronger than all the legendaries' powered up forms in just base form alone (with only exceptions being mega ray and eternatus). And mega ray would then be vastly overpowered by mega mewtwo which would have base stat total of 844. I really think its getting powercreeped tho, at least having a signature ability would help it cause its crazy that it doesnt have one in the first place while all the new legendaries have some really broken abilities💀only giving it pressure and unnerve is such a waste, it deserves better. That or make it know all moves like mew does, cause its honestly crazy that a direct clone of mew doesnt have any of its abilites.

I think mewtwo having genius-level intellect and is able to materialize matter at will should be more than enough to make him the "strongest" without having the need to even battle for superiority. human technology has weakened/controlled/subdued legendaries on numerous occasions and mewtwo can just replicate or even improve upon those technologies. mewtwo himself in his movie made pokeballs that were able to capture unweakened trainer-owned pokemons against their will. now even if those balls aren't strong enough for legendaries, I don't see why he can't just upgrade them into master balls instead.

Mew was essentially trying to eliminate Mewtwo and the clones he made.

The first movie goes out its way to show that Mew is stronger than Mewtwo. Mew was able to inflict damage on Mewtwo by directing its attack back at it and didn’t get injured in the fight and by all means was not even taking it seriously lol not to mention Mew was able to lurk around the island and inside the base undetected by Mewtwo but then again so was Team Rocket so idk lol the games have favored Mewtwo based on popularity but the first movie established that Mew is stronger and that was Mewtwo’s entire angle in the first place; to show that clones are dominant and stronger than the originals

Just because Mewtwo can do something doesn’t mean Mew can. Also, Mew has never been show to be capable of changing its type. Yes it can use any move it wants, but it can’t change its type at will. And while Mew was playing around at first, it did get serious in that battle and they were shown to be an even match at that point

Two separe canons that takes materials or facts from each other. Games canon(lore): Arceus is god and the Arceus we see and interact with ate just tiny frsctions of the real one. Arceus created the pokemon multiverse and the very concepts of creation like time, space, and matter. Videogame gameplay: Mewtwo in gen 1 was a god since there wasn't a special atk/ sp def split and he learned amnesia which greatly boosted it's stats. He had the perfect stats distribution. Gamefreak kept mewtwo relevant by giving him tools to deal with other legendary threats. Unfortunately espite Mewtwo remaining a very strong pokemon, he could easily be one shot by really powerful pokemon like Kyogre. Anime lore: Mewtwo was designed to be the strongest pokemon on the planet and they succeded. Howevrr with more pokemon being crested by the pokemon company the og all powerful mewtwo from the season 1 anime falls short. I do believe mewtwo can take on the likes of the legendary birds, dogs, Lugia, the regis, the lati twins, the mew alike, and many other similar legendaries, but when it comes to the ancient pokemon and the pokemon gods, he can't do much about it. We have seen in the anime how Dialga can manipulate time to de-evolve a pokemon. No pokemon has defense to that so Dialga can de-evolve mewtwo to a fetus and beat it. Mewtwo can't beat primal pokemon whose sole existence destroy the world ina couple of seconds. He can't beat Arceus who in the Hoopa movie showed why he is so high above anything else.. Let's be objective and remember that despite Mewtwo's superiority, he struggled against Mew Those saying mew is super powerful bc he can transform. No, he isn't. Any ditto can do that and he isn't a god. So in short. Mewtwo( the og one) remains one of the most powerful pokemon there are but falls short against othets. Anime canon 2: there id another mewtwo that struggled against a tyranitar and a genesect 😂

Nah, Mewtwo gets dogpiled by a lot of the busted Mega forms, and even its own mega forms are usually ignored for mons like Mawile, Lucario or even Salamance, and were completely invalidated when Mega Rayquaza was introduced. From an anime and manga standpoint I think Zygarde is far more impressive. In the manga, Red was able to capture Mewtwo with six of his regular mons and had a hard time against Deoxys, but it took 6 megas to stand up to Zygarde. Mewtwo gets bullied by most mons in competitive play. Its not a bad one, but it was only the strongest in Gen 1 and Gen 2. Kyogre has always been the definitive strongest mon when it came to VGC legendaries, and I think it was the king of competitive even when Kyurem White was around in Gen 5. I'm not saying its bad, but Mewtwo was never a centralizing force past gen 2. Past Gen 3, you had Dialga and Palkia doing much better things with their superior typing and stat distribution. Mewtwo has always been Uber because its stat spread is base 680, but it has been outclassed hard by modern legendaries. Miraidon, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde 100%, Zacian, Crowned(even regular form outclasses it hard due to intrepid sword), hell even mythicals like Marshadow, and Urshifu(which let me remind you, has a BST of 550)were far bigger threats. In the modern Ubers format of Gen 9, sure, Mewtwo is fine, but it won't win you games by itself. The only reason we don't have more Mega legendary mons or mythical legendaries like Diance is because pokemon stopped Mega Evolution from existing past gen 7, and Mega Mewtwo was always outclassed by Rayquaza when Mega Evolution existed.

in terms of stats, there are a few legendaries that are stronger. Black Kyurem (700) White Kyurem (700) Complete Zygarde (708) Eternatus (690) Stellar Terapogos (700) Crowned Zacian (700) Crowned Zamzenta (700) And of course Arceus is the strongest in terms of overall BST (Barring Mega Evolutions which get a 100 BST increase or special Gimmicks like Ultra Necrozma (754) and Eternamax Eternatus (1125)) But there are a few Legendaries that are stronger just because of their abilities or gimmicks, like Miraidon. thing is just broken in competitive battles right now. both in singles and in doubles. the problem with the Mega Mewtwos and why they're considered weaker than Mega Rayquaza (even though all three share the highest BST obtainable by a trainer (780)) is that they can't hold an item since they have to hold their mega stones, where Mega Rayquaza can. the presence of an item can make all the difference in a battle.
