This is just Hegelian dialectics mixed in with French postmodernism. Very idealistic and lacking in materialist analysis. It fails to account for how many conflicts occur due to material conditions and how material conditions change and shape values and ideas; it believes values and ideas dictate human history as an external somehow sublime force that can affects humans but can't be affected by humans. Very silly.

This is the kind of false dichotomous story telling that reinforces division. This style of story telling is quite popular and effective. I find myself wondering often how we can reframe this way of thinking in a way that promotes unity without othering (villain) or idealizing (hero), but all the methods I've seen are more complex. Nuance isn't simple even if it is more accurate and less harmful in the long run. 🤔

1:22:15 I have heard Ken Wilber tell this story several times. And it is simply not true as he describes it. For one thing, the event was not the end of the relationship between Jung and Freud, not at all. Freud and Jung met for the first time in Vienna in 1907, where they dove into intense conversations about the human mind. Jung later said they spoke for 13 hours. What followed was an intense correspondence, and it was the start of a professional collaboration and personal friendship that lasted until 1913, when professional disagreements between them led Jung to resign from his position as chairman of the International Psychoanalytical Association - an organization that they had founded together. They met in 1913 for the last time. The conversation Wilber refers to took place in 1910 (see Jung’s memoirs). It is a false assertion that they never spoke to each other again after that. That is simply wrong. How Wilber can claim that so definitively (‚They literally never spoke to each other again after that conversation, not till the day they died and they never ever said a single word including till the day they died.‘) almost leaves me stunned. As I said, the final break did not occur until 1913. He also quotes the conversation itself inaccurately: Wilber claims that Jung wrote about it in his memoirs that 'Freud did not realize that what he (Freud) called occultism was everything I was interested in in my life'. When in fact Jung wrote: 'What Freud seemed to mean by "occultism" was virtually everything that philosophy and religion, including the rising-contemporary science of parapsychology, had learned about the psyche.’ Wilber should either keep quiet about the conversation in question or get a correct picture of it based on the numerous literature available. It would also do him no harm to read Jung's memoirs (again), especially his chapter on Freud. And then, Mr. Wilber, you may recount the event truthfully.

Voice comes in and out at times. Couple clarifications: Innovation distribution curve theory says the parabolic launch occurs around 20% adoption after the chasm. My understanding is there are 4 quadrants Ken stated there are 10 stages, you were stumbling with numbers You cherry picked your truth, but failed to mention it when you had the chance Truth is subjective in one’s internal world, objective truth resides in the field of what possibilities through only through a formal process of falsification. Sure it was The Ken Wilbur you spent time with?
@TheToddJason2 ай бұрын
Hi, Yes it was THE Ken :) You can see all the interviews I did with him in other videos. There are way, WAY more than 10 stages, and the ones he focuses on in integral expand over the years. The 7 are akin to visible light in the overall spectrum. Yes there are 4 quadrants, did I say otherwise?! My goal with the video was to give people a general sense of what Integral is to prompt further investigation. I DEF cherry picked because I am choosing which parts I gleaned from him as most useful (in 15 minutes!) I had the utter blessing to sit with him for 3 weeks in his condo in Denver and interview him for over 100 hours. I'm def NOT perfect, but did my best!!

You can’t “teach” your children to be resilient. Kids don’t listen to you, they IMITATE you.
@TheToddJason2 ай бұрын
Respectfully I have a different view on that. We each come wired with our own understanding. Wisdom comes from within, and while there is certainly initiation that is not the whole story. We can help children unlock their internal wisdom, guide them to unlock qualities like resilience and kindness....

Attention is an object. It possesses varying intensity, ranging from dimmed when we are sleepy to heightened and alert when wide awake. Additionally, attention has a directional quality: it can turn inward towards thoughts, memories, and dreams or outward towards sensory experiences. Also, attention has a type of aperture to it that can be either wide-allowing for a general awareness of everything-or narrow, focusing intently on a specific sensation. However, Awareness of attention is integral, beyond (transcends and embraces/welcomes) attention (object, experience, measurable, limited), incl. the experience/sense of being/awareness.

What happened to this guy? That wig looks so bad, so fake. He used to be my favourite philosopher. I kinda lost interest after his book "One Taste". He described that when he went on business trip in 1997, it took him 2-3 days of living in the real world to lose access to higher levels of consciousness, and back then he already was a very advanced meditator with over 20 years of practice (2-3h per day).
