Sir thank you for this video. I have a question I have a Carrier 06E hot gas bypass valve compressor, if I replace it with a suction cut off valve head and plate can i use it ?
@VTdarkangelАй бұрын
I'm not with Carlyle or Carrier, so take what I say with a grain of salt. That being said, I do have some experience with Carlyle, although it is primarily with their medium and low temperature compressors. I would say that you could replace hot gas unloading with suction cutoff because all the operating parts for the unloading system are inside the head assembly. If you replace the head assembly and use the correct gaskets, I don't see why that wouldn't work. The only thing I would be aware of is making sure the valves on the valve plate seat. I have had trouble getting the discharge valves to seat when I've replaced valve plates on Carlyles.

@@VTdarkangel thank you for your attention. I think as you said, but I wanted to consult experienced masters before implementing it. I ordered the parts and will let you know the progress after testing. Best regards

Due to the flooding the bearings were probably washed out and maybe are no longer there. Otherwise id say it was all due to running in a acidic contaminated system.

Missing the left side flapper.
@NationalCompressorExchangeInc Жыл бұрын
It was stuck to the valve plate when it was pulled off. Its common and when a compressor in the field is being opened to be troubleshoot, it important to make sure nothing falls out, such as valve reeds sticking to the plate. If your changing the plate and have new parts ready to be installed then your good.
@Sinicidal Жыл бұрын
@@NationalCompressorExchangeInc Another good tip, use 2 old or spare bolts, cut the heads off and place them in before removing the head. It will prevent shifting and snapping the pins. Also its a huge lifesaver placing everything back together. That first seal is a pain as it tends to knock the tension thing and flapper off.

How to change oil that compressor do you have a vedeo to how to change oil
@NationalCompressorExchangeInc Жыл бұрын
On this model compressor there is a plug in the bottom pan that you can pull to help drain. To fill it, on the front of the compressor next to the oil pump there is a port that you can charge the compressor.

is it pump down is needed before replace the oil filter

Yes, 100% you will need to pump down and isolate the compressor from the system.

What the best way to pull the valve guide pins?
@NationalCompressorExchangeInc Жыл бұрын
Hi Nick, our first recommendation is to not pull the pins. If your doing a valve plate change in the field and the pins look good, then use the old pins. Reason we would make that suggestion is if you crack a pin or sheer it off, it is going to be severely difficult to repair that and you will probably end up having to remove the compressor. if the pin is damaged from removing the head and not sheered off and you would like to give it a try then we would suggest a good set of plyers or end nippers. Make sure you get right up against the casting and do not squeeze to hard and snap the pin.

oil pressure zero
@NationalCompressorExchangeInc Жыл бұрын
@@babutiruvalla9305 Thank you for reaching out. There are multiple causes and questions that can be asked. Also, what it the model? Lets assume it is like the Copeland compressor above. To give you a few quick things to think about please consider the following: 1) is the oil clean and free of debris? if not, it can clog the oil pickup screen in the crankcase. 2) Does the compressor have refrigerant flooding in the crankcase? That can cause it as well, but check your sight glass as if that is occurring you would see foaming. 3) if you had a flooded start or to much liquid in the crankcase it can suck up into the oil pump and snap the oil pump tang.

Removed my pump and when installing new i pulled off new pump after having it barley installed to try again due to snug and my crankshaft fell far down. I struggled to get it and the pump back in by turning the crank as I was pushing the pump on. I’m running still low oil pressure around 4-6psi. Looks like rear bearing bad? Front bearing looked good. I also seem to lose oil out discharge some.
@NationalCompressorExchangeInc2 жыл бұрын
Based on what you stated and the crank falling far down, it sounds like your crank might be cracked at the main bearings.

Why is the gasket sticking out/ Is that normal?
@NationalCompressorExchangeInc2 жыл бұрын
Great question! Yes perfectly normal. Its a quick visual aid to let you know the gasket is installed correctly and second what oil pump gasket was used. Copeland has a bunch of different oil pump design gaskets, each one has a different tab sticking out.

How often should that oil filter be changed?
@NationalCompressorExchangeInc2 жыл бұрын
Great question! Its all relative to operating hours and system condition. We recommend at least once a year to perform an oil analysis, grab a sample, send it out to a laboratory and take a look at the results. Obviously, if you need to change the oil, then we recommend changing the filter. We offer oil analysis to our customers to make it easy, as well as the oil and replacement filters. We also recommend after the report comes back, to hold on to it, so if you do not need to change the oil and when you run the next sample you then have something to compare the new report to and see if has gotten worse.

My question is why on earth would you ever need to change the head? I've been doing Refrigeration since 1984 and have never seen or heard of a head going bad.
@NationalCompressorExchangeInc2 жыл бұрын
Great question! A few scenarios that would make one need to change a head, 1) the discharge valve mounts onto the center head, the threads get stripped or it gets cracked from not lining up properly. 2) There are times that the one that was in stock at the supplier did not have the correct center head configuration, but the compressor replacement was critical and the customer cannot wait to get the correct configuration. Finally, the model number on the tag is either wrong or not very legible, the customer gets the compressor to the job and realizes that the head is wrong, for safety reasons, we thought it would be a good video to show that you cannot just spin the head and will need to swap it from the old compressor.
