This is their most underrated song imho and I’m STOKED someone suggested it. The groove, the layers, George’s guitar on Lennon’s second verse, Ringo’s perfect drumming, the switch to Lennon midstream, etc etc. LOVE this song.

Great reaction, don’t be put off by the abstract nature of the poetry. Not meant or important to understand everything on the first listen. The key is how it hits you emotionally. The meaning evolves over time ,repeated listening as well as our own life experiences. I caught the Dylan infection when I was 12 in 1967. His work was Humongous influence in my life and continues to be to this day. Such a Powerful artist and I am so grateful to be born in his time. He will not be forgotten.

One must always remember WHEN the great old bands did what they did. Makes all the difference understanding the music and its brilliance. Dave Clark Five next! "On Broadway" or "Can't You See That She's Mine".... and the Moody Blues, anything at all from "In Search Of The Lost Chord".

His lyrics are the definition of food for thought... and need to be digested over time with repeated listening and reading the lyrics to understand all its messages on societies many faults.

You're just now beginning to get it?😂😂 Better late then never. Welcome aboard brother. The Beatles never put their words to other peoples to melodies. They were all originals. Between 63 and 64 they did record some covers but but never changed the lyrics. I wish they had done more covers in those early years. Greatest cover band ever.

It is poetry. So don't overthink it. It is if nothing else, the random observations of a young man seeking to figure out life's inconsistencies.

I was a two year old child in Australia when The Beatles became popular. I can never remember a time in my life when the music didn’t speak to me. My mother took me to see their movies because I loved their music so much. I wasn’t even old enough to be at school, there was no peer influence, it was just the music. As I grew older, the lyrics and the nuances of the music resonated even more. In every decade of my life, their music meant different things to me. I still listen to them every day, and my go to song changes. I think that’s a measure of the strength and diversity of their catalogue - that so many different songs continue to reach out to me.

Popper's good, but I still think Stevie Wonder is more impressive on harmonica. I was actually shocked the first time I saw a video of Stevie Wonder playing harmonica because I didn't even know it could be played like that with that kind of precision and feeling.

We Gen X'ers beat the hell out of the word, "awesome". But then, we grew up and learned other words. MILLENNIALS, on the other hand, LIVE and DIE with the word "amazing"; so much that the word doesn't mean anything anymore.

In the movie "Easy Rider" this song has a part in the musical score. If you was to explore the vibe of the song see it in context of the movie. IT was the first time many of had ever seen Jack Nicholson, Dennis Hopper & Peter Fonda. The movie was very influential in it's time of 1969. Woodstock happened a month after it was released. They were essentially unrelated, but both signs of the times.

Lead singer of Pantera, Phil Anselmo, gained notoriety when he shouted "white power" out several times while tossing out the Nazi Salute during shows. lots of fans try to bury this info, or make excuses for it. it sucks that over time, it can be totally lost and then their music gets suggested to PoC as if there's no history behind this music.
