Happy to see you doing cleans in there. Very athletic movement but can be tough to master for some. I know it’s in vogue these days to do hanging cleans but I always got my kids to do them from the floor. Being explosive throughout the whole movement was more important to me.
@PhilipBlystone26 күн бұрын
I have a love hate relationship with cleans 😂 I have been doing them for a couple years and still feel like an amateur when doing it. I always tell people to implement the movement if possible. Like you said, it’s a difficult movement to learn, but a high award if you learn it. I started off doing full cleans, but as I got more into my sport specific training, I focused more on hang cleans, since I’m going into a quarter squat position, which most athletes go into. I think implementing full range movements has its place for sure!

Not a negative criticism but it would have been better to incorporate some scanning. Phillip, may I ask you when it the time that as a player would scan when you have to it teammate with the ball? Because we’ve had a very brief chat about scanning but I’m interested in going further. Also what are scanning for?
@PhilipBlystoneАй бұрын
Of course! I wanted to add some sort scanning into the drill because I think it’s a must for almost all positions, but the main thing the players wanted to work on is turning with someone on their back. They felt more than confident in their scanning ability, but stated to me that they struggled when a player was on their back pushing them. Thank you!
@r7733hlАй бұрын
@@PhilipBlystone when they scan what instructions would you provide them? When is the time to scan when your teammate has the ball? Totally understand tailoring drills to them, but anytime you can add that to the drill so they are aware which space to turn into it is always better. Memory is not linear, so not including it creates memories without the scan, too many of those and the player will not do so in games or under pressure. Memory is more akin to inserting a key into a lock. When the first tumbler is hit it will open the memories of those events. That’s why it’s important to have those events built in, so jo matter the stress the first tumbler will be hit and the actions will cascade. Think of what happens when you change one aspect of your morning routine. It all goes pear shaped quickly.
