I have two of these Ingersoll-Rand compressors, one a little smaller than this and one a good bit larger. They are known as a Type Twenty (or 20, I've seen it written both ways in their literature).

@@CaseyJoeS that's pretty cool! I really like these old compressors. I sold this one to my buddy. I originally bought it because he had a sand blaster that needed a compressor that big to power it. We actually bought it from his wife's grandfather. I really enjoyed tinkering around with it.

@@EvanBeard93 thanks! I don't think the original lawnmower blades would create enough suction to pull through that much hose.

Hi Chip. I don't see any recent videos on your page but am wondering how you are getting along with your restored Danville David Bradley Garden Seeder? I have used one behind my DB but last couple of seasons, have been enjoying a push style model of the same planter.

I used it to plant some corn and green beans that year and it's been in the shed ever since. I set the planting depth too deep and most of the beans didn't come up. Priorities changed the past few years and I just haven't taken the time to get it out. It hasn't helped that I was having engine troubles with the tractor I was using it behind. I want to try it out again, but just haven't made the time.

Hi Randy, thanks for checking on me. The short story is yes, I'm doing pretty well. The long version is that a lot of circumstances changed. I changed jobs, then I was introduced to someone and we eventually got married. Somewhere in the middle of that I realized she might not like living in a house that has been owned by 2 different bachelors over a timespan of 60 years, so I've been busy remodeling for the past few years. I don't feel comfortable posting videos on anything to do with house remodeling, because I've heard of other youtubers having trouble with that. I have been finishing up a 3 point lift for the back of my Farmall BN tractor. I think I mentioned a little about it in the video about converting from magneto to ignition coil. I'll have to wrap it up and make a video of the 3 point in operation. I guess I'm pretty distracted nowadays 😅

This is awesome! We are getting older and doing hay kills us lately. My wife could use this to make piles on the field that I could come by and pick up with a grapple to load the wagons. How did you attach this to the tractor?
@chipwright61938 ай бұрын
I built it from tubing that a friend gave me from a wind damaged canopy. On the front I welded a 3/4 bar that fit throught a hole in the grill of the tractor. On the back I mounted that piece of 4x4 to the hitch. I made it so that the tubing would fit through 4 holes in the 4x4 and lock on with a few snap clips like you use on a 3point draw bar. It mounts on the tractor in about 5 minutes. It's fun to use, but we quit making hay now. Mom sold her horse.
@chipwright61938 ай бұрын
My only regret was not making it out of heavier tubing. It started breaking and then I would have to weld cracks in the tubing.

@chipwright61932 жыл бұрын
I didn't see any as a kit on ebay or Summit, but individually they are a common part. They are just a mini freeze plug. I've heard with shortages due to the pandemic that it's hard to find parts for the FE engines. I'm not sure how bad it is. Hopefully as long as you don't have to do anything major like replacing a head, it won't be too bad. I would like to think that getting pistons, rings, bearings, valves, guides etc wouldn't be too bad, I hope...
@sequoiaohz2 жыл бұрын
@@chipwright6193 I will see when I have disassembled the engine. Maybe it all looks good on it, then I will leave it like that. My engine runs, but he will have wear inside. Loses oil pressure and after some time due lifter make noises. Also he has a lot of blow by. After almost 60 years I think it's time to overhaul it. But I have help from people who have done FE engines many times. Just looking now what all I need parts. So that it goes later as possible without much waiting ahead. I can not say at the moment if the engine has been done before and how due bore of the cylinders are current.
@chipwright61932 жыл бұрын
@@sequoiaohz okay, that sounds similar to mine. I hope it all goes well for you. On mine I just had the heads rebuilt at the local machine shop. The cylinders didn't look too bad, so I just replaced the piston rings. Then replacing all of the bearings and switching to a high volume oil pump got my oil pressure back. Before I rebuilt it, the oil pressure would go to zero at idle when it was hot. I'm really happy with it now. At ide the pressure is around 25psi and 50-75psi on the highway.
@sequoiaohz2 жыл бұрын
@@chipwright6193 That sounds good to me. Glad your engine is running well again. I suspect maybe wear on the main bearings of the crankshaft. There certainly is lost the oil pressure when the engine and the oil is hot. Have heard in the context is also often then at the rear engine seal the engine leaks. There he also loses a lot of oil. Have enough time to do the whole thing over the winter. Then I do not drive anyway, because of all the salt on the roads. Have a good day. Greetings from Germany.

@@sequoiaohz we don't drive our old cars in the winter either. The salt is terrible. The rear main seal in the 390 was a piece of rope packed in a V groove that sealed against the crankshaft.
