I lost my dad on the 27th of November and Mum on the 12th of December and it’s incredibly hard so I totally empathise with you

How to respond to such loss. What a horrendous time you've had , compounded by a season with joyful expectations . To loose both your parents so close together . Grief is such a lonely place . I can only imagine what you are facing right now . I hope you can find moments of peace in good memories of your parents , although I recognise this in itself, for some, holds just as much pain. One day at a time x

I turn 50 this year, I want go get my mojo back and start living, go camping on my own, get a new job, maybe even a wild swim or learn paddle boarding! But I’m not putting pressure on to do anything… little steps. Happy new year to you and your family, look forward to your adventures this year 😊 I lost my mum a few years ago just before Christmas so big hugs to you, the first one is tough 😔

Thankyou so much for your kind comment . When mum passed she left us a small amount of money so I booked a cheap ski holiday which I have dreamt of doing since being a child . I took some lessons on the indoor ski slope and cried at least 4 times during this process , it was much harder than I had imagined . Had I not already booked the holiday I may have given up several times . 2 days ago we arrived in Bulgaria , we got the gondola up to the middle of the mountain and I had what I can only describe as a bit of a panic attack. The mountain was vast , I felt out of my depth . I told the others to go ahead while I calmed down . I considered paying for more lessons . But once I had calmed I choose a flatish area and started to practice what I had been taught ....... then I took the route a section at a time . As I relaxed and started to enjoy the experience I became overwhelmed with gratitude for such an opportunity , such breathtaking views , proud I had actually overcome so many challenges to achieve a life goal that had felt so unreachable. I found myself enjoying the experience and in tears of joy instead . I wish mum was here for me to tell her all about it . Im finding that at 50 I know I have to start moving out of my comfort zone . It's soooooo much more scary than when I was younger but sooooo much more rewarding . Life is so short and there is so much to see and do ( I'm actually gutted I can't ski today as I stubbed my flipping toe last night really badly and it hurts to stand on it - resting today hoping I repair intake to do it all again tomorrow ) I encourage you to step into the unknown .....a toe at a time ......and in your time . Make your own challenges that feel just a little scary and do it anyway . To new adventures Happy New Year x

I really had to reply to this one.🙂 Turning 55 this year and having had 4 sons, ive peared it right back. I cooked a tradition sunday roast, a pudding of their choosing, bought xmas crackers and one xmas tree. No one even noticed 😂 or they didn't care to tell me. No hundreds of £'s spent on food and less stress. Will be doing this from now on. No high expectations or palava for once. 😂 it was brill.

When my late wife and I had young sons Christmas was great, then as they became teenagers it lost it's magic somewhat. This was my second Christmas without my wife, the love of my life, who died suddenly on the brink of retirement. So off I trudged to my eldest sons house to spend Christmas with him and my grandsons........but try as they might they couldn't manage to bring much joy to my Christmas as I fear it will never be the same for me.

I am so saddened to hear of your loss, at a time in life when you should have been living your plans together . I can't imagine how hard Christmas must be for you . How does one find joy again ? I do wonder what your wife would want you to do ? I pray this year there will be pockets of joy for you in the memories of your wife and the family she has left you x

Just catching up after taking Christmas decks down and popping them neat and tidy in the loft. Positive vibes for the New Year. Christmas lovely for little ones and like to keep the magic I felt as a child. For me just nice to spend time with family. Also time for reflection particularly of those no longer with us or struggling. So avoid the merry Christmas and Happy new year and rephrase things. Had a life changing brain injury Dec 2020 - your videos so inspired me and I ended up planning during my initial recovery of planning to get a camper. Did this last year after getting my driving licence back and managed some trips last year. Have learnt importance of gratitude so my resolution is to continue this. Was 70 end of last month, retired from full time work last year (returned after a year off) took a part time job one day a week working with brain injured people, volunteered with food war on waste half a day, as well as volunteering with my local Acquired Brain Injury NHS team supporting those with a brain injury. This just the tip of the iceberg of positives in my life I have gratitude for. Not saying things not without challenge just wanted to say thank you.xx

We ignore new year. Its overrated and you dont need a certain day for resolutions. Just willpower. New year to me means planning for exciting times out in the van and as this will be a newer van its even more exciting though the first time out may be just to find the rattles and cure them! My strategy this year is don't overthink life just go with the flow and think positively whatever happens.

I dont know if its me just getting older and seeing things for what they are .. i feel times like christmas and other forced holidays are companys pushing them on us to part us from our money .. im not religious, so as soon as i get off work at christmas, i leave in the van and avoid it . This year, my son and I went on a scottish road trip, which was way better than the first four minute description of xmas at home 🤣😂 i loved when the kids were young .... memories last longer

Does stuff bring you joy and how long it take to earm money for what you want to buy with it is something I've been doing for a few years. Memories are something that can be looked back on and reliving those memories can give you joy each time you remember those memories on your own or with others.... Memory dividends 👍

We have so far booked 3 festivals and 1 holiday with friends. I can't wait to book more stuff. We absolutely love our T5 Campervan (white, same as yours 😁) It's been the best thing we have bought! Enjoy your travels, looking forward to watching your adventures ❤

I use all of these ideas in my van including a 12v car heater I use a sleeping bag underneath my doona as well as layering my clothes & bedding I think a combination of these work well together making you feel warmer & more comfortable

Ive just made this for my Renault trafic, and its great but its much higher than the vw van so i needed a big pair of step ladders to put it up. However I'm going to try with a small step ladder and persevere. Didn't use the binding. I dont have a sewing machine and just hand stitched it with a needle and thread.

i live on the farm at the side of the tower opposite he millenium bench.. walkers have to be carefull up on the moor as there is a military training camp just across the fields and they use the moor as a training ground

I loved the ecclectic nature of your vlog this week. The area you wnt to looked very nice. I deffo loved your creative angles but I bet you were sick of walking back for the camera lol. It was very inciteful what yu said. My van is called Viv. I spent a fortune getting her to where I wanted her to be both inside and outside . I got her because I suffer from depression and anxiety and thought having a van and getting out in her would cheer me up. Reality turned out to be very different. Ive tried going out in her, staying out even for just one night and I hate my own company. I've found on the rare occasions Ive joined other people in their vans, Ive been good with that but on my own.....not so good. So Viv's journeys have been for the most part shopping only or hospital appointments . I so wish I had the confidence the youtubers I follow have and do huge trips abroad and scotland etc but I know it will never happen. Frustrating things vans are. I know I'll never sell Viv,but sometimes that idea comes in my head. all the best- Kenny

Thankyou for taking the time to comment.anxiety can be crippling and unpredictable . Have you tried going to the same local Campsite and trying to build confidence slowly in just 1 site . You may start to relax after a few times and you could build on that . Or take a friend Or even a pet - Weirdly I’m less anxious wild camping with my kids than in my own . When really I should be more anxious . I do hope you can challenge He yourself to take small steps to your own version of freedom X
