What do you think of the Swiss Water Process in decafinating coffee?

I've never heard of it. Apparently decaf still contains about 3% of the caffeine, but not sure about the Swiss water process. How does it work?

Can this recipe be used as heavy cream for no churn ice cream?
@NotOnlyCarrots9 ай бұрын
Great question. I have used it in homemade no churn ice cream before, but it's very fatty (2/3 oil (66%)) compared to dairy cream (only 40% fat). It tastes delicious but very rich, so you may not be able to eat as much. I'd have a play with it, perhaps adding a little extra milk to reduce the amount of oil. Let me know how you go!
@strwbryhj9 ай бұрын
@@NotOnlyCarrots thanks for your response! I accidentally made something similar to your recipe (around 70% fat) following another recipe a while back. I recently mixed it with another vegan cream i made that's about 36% fat and i combined the two together to make an ice cream. if my math isn't wrong, i think that should bring the average fat to about 50ish percent. hopefully this batch of ice cream turns out!

There is a secret to feeling full as a vegan. I can tell you how. Hint: oil, deep dried
@lalanam1660 Жыл бұрын
The way to feel full as a vegan is to eat a lot of oil. Think: Indian deep fried cauliflower. Chinese spring onion pancakes, coconut cream, aubergine lasagne with vegan bechemal, fatty creamy yoghurt and milks, French fires, nachos with guacamole etc etc.
@NotOnlyCarrots Жыл бұрын
Interesting. I'm glad that works for you. The only hesitation I have with eating a lot of oil is it is calorie dense so it's ready to eat more calories than you need. Thanks for your comment!

Great question. I haven't tried these oil-free but you could possibly sub in any wet ingredient with the same amount e.g. water, tomato paste, chia seed + water (chia 'egg'). I hope it works!

Yeah it’s crazy I’ve been back and forth with being ovo-lacto-vegetarian and the before thought is “yeah I want this thing that’s so familiar to me” but then afterwards I feel terrible that I ate an animal and they’re now in my body. It is the familiarity and the missing out that’s the issue for me. I grew up around a lot of meat eaters and my fav places were custom to be meat options. So it’s hard to fight the convenience and the social aspect of it. But I’ve loved the vegan stuff I’ve tried like tenders and sausage. Honestly i just want a good burger. That my kind of vibe. But I’ve also liked just ordering fries and dip. But my main reason is for the animals. But it’s a constant mental battle. This helped a great amount. Thanks

There is such a thing nowadays as cashew milk in shelf-stable boxes, sold in some stores, along side the soy, almond, hemp, and other plant-based milks. Research it online, make actual phone calls to the stores first - find out if they have it, so you don't waste a trip in case they don't. Also, any syrup will do, including honey, agave, whatever. Just needs to be a syrupy simple-sugar is all. If you're diabetic, ask your Dr. and a Registered Dietitian what will work best for you. Maybe ask them about stevia based options. That is an unholy amount of oil, of any sort, even the healthy kinds. What's the serving size on this, 1 teaspoon?!
@NotOnlyCarrots Жыл бұрын
Yes, you're right! I haven't tried store-bought cashew milk but have made it myself. I haven't tried it with the cream though. The serving size is usually 1 tablespoon. It is a lot of oil (1 cup soy milk to 2 cups rice bran oil) but it also makes about 3 cups of cream - certainly only a sometimes treat! Thanks for your comment!
@iAmTheWagon Жыл бұрын
Ummmm… It’s whipped cream. What did you expect, something healthy? At least it’s better than coconut oil.
