Great idea. Does it have negative effects on car paint or the rubber seals on the car?
@WandaonWheels-ej9rq

It does not affect the paint, over years it may breakdown the rubber on your wipers. With that said wipers are usually changed every year with reg maintenance. Google AI recommends cleaning stubborn dirt off your wipers with this solution, and to use it to unfreeze them.

Will it do any harm to our soft top jeep if a little spray gets on the soft top?
@WandaonWheels-ej9rq
@WandaonWheels-ej9rq 5 сағат бұрын
Yes, rubbing alcohol can damage a soft top roof: Drying: Alcohol can dry out the fabric of a soft top roof. Discoloration: Alcohol can dull and cloud the appearance of vinyl. Deterioration: Harsh cleaners like alcohol can quickly damage the fabric or vinyl of a soft top roof. It's best to apply with a cloth to prevent over spray.

Shaving Cream works the best for condensation. First clean the glass with windex , then apply the shaving cream to a lint free cloth and work it into the glass until it dissolves. I do have a video posted about that.

HI, I am always changing things up. I love the building, designing as much as the camping out. With the fireplace I can only use it when I have access to an outlet at camp or my own home. When I am not camping I like to sit in the van and have a coffee...it's so relaxing. I have now built a couch/ dog bed at the back to give Sergeant his permanent spot. I will upload a video as soon as I get a chance.

A spray bottle of alcohol is a great idea for several uses, including defrosting windows/windscreens and that pesky frozen-closed car door! I pulled the plastic handle off of my truck last Winter trying to open the door after a cold night preceded by rain <wet>, which basically glued the rubber seals to the jambs! It took 20 minutes with a hair dryer to warm it enough to let it open. I'm thinking that spraying alcohol all around the edges may melt the ice quicker than that. Thanks for the idea. DD

I keep a spray bottle of it in my car too and I also use it to sanitize my hands if I am going to eat in the car and use it as a hand sanitizer. I find that you need to periodically check it because the alcohol breaks down the rubber seals in the bottle sprayer and you might leak out and stain the finish inside your car. And don’t apply it to the dashboard like I did because it stains it badly and it’s bad for vinyl surfaces. Certain rubbers that are in wipers are affected by alcohol too, so be a little careful applying it near the wipers.

Thank you ,😊 when it comes to the wipers: In my research it's recommended to use this product to clean the wipers. It will be over a year to break down the rubber, It states you would have replaced them before this happens. It is also recommended to use it on wipers to defrost them. Others here have suggested that it removes paint from your can, however this is not so, it will not remove paint from your car. 😊🥶

I knew it was an alcohol. I use methanol, which is already the active ingredient in windshield washer fluid. Now it doesnt make sense that any alcohol will work past the moment you use it, because it evaporates without a trace, so I don't buy the claim that it keeps working.

By diluting the 100% with 30% water, are you not creating a 70% solution? Seems one could buy 70% to begin with, which is generally, less costly than 100%. By the way, before seeing this video, I tried spraying with 50% strength, and you’re right. It’s far less effective - takes much more scraping.

Interesting, I mean I am not that good at math, however I would think if you filled a bottle to 70 percent with pure rubbing alcohol and then the rest with water, it would be 70 % pure. I use 99 0/0 isopropyl as a step waxxing new bi-cycle chains after soaking them in varsol to get them completely clean for the wax bath. Good stuff. Trucking tip. RAIN-X properly applied first to all the glass. Original formula. Not the 2 in 1 formulation. Huge benefits! Routinely clean your wiper blades. That's where the grit on the windshield settles scraping it off. Use de-natured alcohol ideally on the wiper blades (not isopropyl*). Should get about 8wks out of a coating. Methyl Hydrate. Sold in Canada @ Canadian Tire in jugs in 2 strengths as well. Go for the high concentrate. Cap full in your wiper fluid reservoir (full) helps to keep your windshield and wipers from icing up in nasty winter weather. Also helps to dissolve bug guts including the VW sized buggers that mate in middair in Wisconsin in swarms that splat like paintballs. Better effect spritzing it without the wipers for a few seconds to let it dissolve the protein if your vehicle has the option. Used in trucking to dissolve ice in trailer air brake lines caused by dumbFs who don't drain the air tanks daily relying on the air dryer... It won't harm rubber. *Methyl can and does harm neoprene though including the seals often used now in trailer brake systems. Same effect isopropyl has using it on wiper blades to clean them. But it's still used in trailer brake lines because it works. Wipers are either rubber or synthetic now. I like Bosch Icons (synthetic). 👍👍 If the flapper in your spray bottle is neoprene? Methyl will eventually break it down. But it's probably rubber. And iso will eventually break down the rubber flapper anyway.

Thank you for the information ....I understand that rubbing alcohol will after a long period of time break down wiper blades, however it is a solution to cleaning and recommended. Hi, This is some information I found in my research before posting the video. I would not want someone to damage the rubber on their wipers Rubbing alcohol can be used to clean windshield wipers and help them work better, but it's not a long-term solution: Cleaning: Rubbing alcohol can remove dirt, grime, and residue from wiper blades and windshields. This can help prevent streaking and squeaking. Unfreezing: Rubbing alcohol can also be used to unfreeze windshield washer fluid.
