Love the Mopar brotherhood in Australia, just like here in the US. I’m fascinated by that Hemi 6, we have the slant 6 here with the performance version being called the “Hyper Pak”. It even came with an Aluminum block! I’d love to get a few Hemi 6 engines shipped to the US, up here almost no one has ever seen one in real life. I’m trying to find a parts house that would crate up a few and send them north so we yanks can enjoy actually seeing one in person. The rumor here is that the Hemi 6 was developed for North America but deemed to close in cost to our V8’s like the 318, 340(most underrated small block ever) and 360.

What a cool old "Slant 6" Valiant. However, i must respectfully disagree with your vid title description "Hemi" "Six Pack". It appears your Valient is a "Hyper Pak" 6 (No Hemi). I'm a classic Mopar(s) owner for over 40 years (1965 Coronet presently) and i have owned a true 440 "six pack" SuperBee. (Never could afford a Hemi.)

Hi, this is definitely NOT a Slant six wedge, but is indeed fitted with a later model vertical HEMI 6. You have had some cool cars! But people... Please read the description. I have been a Mopar specialist since 1978 and my family since 1925. I have personally owned over 350 and have literally restored hundreds with my own hands from start to finish. In Mopar terms 6 Pack refers to 6 Barrels or a "Six Pack" carb set-up. Our Aussie made 6 cylinder HEMI 265 CID Six Pack engines were factory fitted with 3x2 BBL Italian side draft Weber carbs and and our Chrysler Valiant RT Chargers factory standard can do high 13 second quarter mile times with modern tyres and they corner like they are on rails and are all A bodies.

Owned about 50 Mopars 1 only AP6 Regal love the AP6 Factory V8 . Owned a Spanish red VC with black vinyl top and black trim in the late 70s into the early 80 s had the heads done sports exhaust 6 inch deep deep dish rims sway bar front and rear k-Mac and carb modes . It put many brand X V8 s to shame . Sold and brought a VG pacer that had some old school power modes 😀. My way to make them handle always the same brand of shocks all round same rim size all round same tyre size all round not jacked in the rear maybe a bit lower in the rear sway bar front and back 16.1 steering box or a sass sport wheel . And that goes for Charger and all makes👍🏻🇦🇺 . They will corner way better and sit on high speed for miles been there done that .

Thanks. :) A Hemi 300 C is a nice modern Mopar. However that was a myth in the old days about Vals not cornering, as most people flogged them to death and didn't maintain them (As they were so tough they kept going) Also admittedly CAL fitted inferior shocks from the factory, but that is easily and cheaply fixed. I have personally restored literally hundreds myself by hand and have owned over 350. I have always found them exceptional and was rarely out cornered by the competition. They were always better handling than the Fords and Holdens of the day due to their superior Torsion Bar suspension and most magazine reviews back then reflected that too. They can then be drastically improved very easily with just basic bolt-on anti-sway bars (especially for the early models that had none), good double acting shocks , good tyres, they are lowered in 2 minutes with the turn of a spanner and then just topped off with a good wheel alignment to corner very fast, like they are on rails! The Power Steer models can have their Caster adjusted to the max for race car style handling without any heavy steering effort at all.

I had a similar experience in about 1984 , I'd just finished re painting my VC Valiant Regal from gunmetal silver to black , it looked great , and one summers morning on my way to work , going up a hill in quite heavy traffic , I was completely blinded by the sun , and I ran into the back corner of a parked bus at a bus stop , there were 2 buses and the one I hit was sitting well out in my lane ,the impact destroyed my left side front fender , but no damage to the bus . It was insured and repaired , but I remember it was very difficult finding a replacement fender for it , even back then , but that was in New Zealand, I'm sure a replacement would have been much easier to find in Australia. 🙂

@@SouthernHemi Yes, it's getting increasingly important to look after what you've got. Iv'e often thought about how hard it was to get a replacement VC front guard , and, If it was now , I suppose it would be an option to get one from America off a Plymouth Valiant, or Barracuda. Actually, thinking about that time I needed one in 1984 , it was the panel beater that did the insurance work that told me it was hard to find another guard , but in those days there was a wrecker right there in my town that had a paddock full of Valiants, and I'd be very surprised if he couldn't have supplied one ( the panel beater sourced one from the north island somewhere) . That's what Iv'e found over the years, a lot of people are full of BS , and you're better off doing your own searching. Very nice AP6 you've got there ,as I said in my other comment there was one that looked just like it with a 265 , where I lived in the early nineties, except, I've remembered it had a black roof. My father had an AP6 in the seventies, my first car was an AP6 in 1981 , have had quite a few other Valiants since , including a VG Pacer coupe that I brought back from Brisbane. Currently I have Dads old VH Ranger XL which he bought in 1980 , and an AP6 Regal. 👍

Back in those days that was well and truly an Aussie Muscle Car. In 1965 it was the first Aussie V8 made car and was in a compact A body and had a solid cam and well performing 273 V8 with twin pump 904 Torqueflite auto that chirped between gears and a Hurst type slap shifter on the floor. And she was quicker than most cars of the day and had superior adjustable Torsion bar suspension and cool looks. They can then be drastically improved very easily with just basic bolt-on anti-sway bars, good double acting shocks ,tyres, lowered in 2 minutes with the turn of a spanner and then just topped off with a good wheel alignment to corner very fast, like they are on rails! The very next model (The 1966 VC V8) in stock standard form with same engine, trans and rear axle, and even without the disc brakes option that was finally available, they won at Mt Panorama Bathurst! Nuff said. 😁 club.shannons.com.au/club/news/racing-garage/1966-bathurst-500-the-valiant-v8-automatics-that-conquered-the-mountain

In that clip I actually drove up in my Blue VJ hardtop that you see there. I had already purchased that one, the Black ex- Highway patrol and Security Company VK K12 Charger seen behind the gate (Ken purchased Stanton Security's old fleet and he had 1 at each end of the property to scare thieves off!) I rented some of his barns for some of my own collection and for my paint and custom fab shop and ended up with those Chargers also, and later even the same Security Company's old Black CL 265 HEMI panel Van too Lol. Which I converted to a 318 V8. I also purchased the Green VJ 770 V8 Charger seen in this clip and many others from Ken that aren't shown that were stored in a much larger bottom barn and garages on his large rural property. And of course I helped him finish and sell off nearly all of his remaining collection for him as he lived well into his 90s. It's crazy, but since 1978 I have now personally owned over 350 various Aussie Chryslers myself (Mostly Vals) and restored most and many other peoples Lol. 😆 www.southernhemimedia.com/about-us.html
