Doc do you ever consider direct repair of pars defects?
@summitmedicalinstitute4 күн бұрын
Great question. Currently, we do not have an adequate technique to repair pars defect with appropriate data supporting good outcomes.

Just got diagnosed last week with a stage 4 glioblastoma. I work out 4 days a week and eat hella healthy/take supplements. Cancer doesn’t discriminate. I had surgery and start the chemo/radiation in 2 weeks. Hoping for 2-3 years. I’m not going years of surgery/chemo. Instead I’m continuing to work out and moving to Thailand.

I am 18 years old, and I have a big brother named Sushil Sharma, who is 2 years older than me. He is mentally handicapped, but he wasn’t always like this. He was a normal, healthy child until the age of 3 when he contracted a disease called Japanese encephalitis. This illness caused severe brain damage, leading to the loss of his consciousness and cognitive abilities. Since then, he has been like a toddler in a grown-up body. He can run around but doesn’t understand danger, such as the risk of being hit by a truck. He cannot feed himself, so we have to assist him with eating, and he is not toilet-trained, so we clean and care for him as you would for a baby. He doesn’t recognize what a home is or understand his surroundings. We live in Nepal, and my parents tried treating him when he was young, but none of the treatments worked. At first, we sought help locally, but later, we also went to India in hopes of finding a solution. At the time, we didn’t even know what the disease was. Moving to another country for treatment was not an option as we were poor. This happened in 2007 AD, and since then, my brother has remained in this condition. If anyone can suggest a solution or offer advice, please let me know. You can also reach me on Instagram at @utsavsharma583. I hope to find answers and help for my brother.

I was blessed to have Dr. Richter in my consult with Dr. Edwards last Tuesday. Though he was not involved with the conversation, I admit I did feel a special warmth and caring when he introduced himself to me. Great thoughts. Should be required watching for everyone - not just people in medical disciplines.

I really want this for my back pain, nothing else is working, but, Is my Zarelto I take alright for this. I have had many procedures and I just quit taking Zarelto for few days. Please answer ASAP Connie Hoschar
@summitmedicalinstitute15 күн бұрын
Great question. You should always consult with your treating provider for specific recommendation, but it is common to stop any anticoagulation medication like Zarelto prior to any surgical intervention.

I wish there was more info here. I’m getting MRI’s tomorrow as prep for the trial. I know nothing about this device other than what my Dr has told me and a brochure from Medtronic. I had a herniated disc and went through a laminectomy procedure in 1997. The sciatic pain pretty much went away but I’ve lived with chronic low back pain ever since. I was able to deal with it until 2 months ago and it just gets worse and worse. I don’t want spinal fusion surgery because it’s not a sure cure. The more I see on the internet about this procedure the less I’m considering going to go through with it. I’m on Medicare and at this point I don’t know how much it will end up costing me out of pocket. Like everything medical in the US the actual cost is large.

Can an abdominoplasty lead to this dysfunction as well
@summitmedicalinstitute15 күн бұрын
Great question. That's definitely possible, but there's not a common correlation between abdominoplasty and SI joint dysfunction.

Following a long career as a Physical Therapist, this is a very honest explanation of back surgery. In my opinion, if you have to have spinal surgery, have it. If you don’t HAVE to, don’t

I had Achilles detachment, bone spur removal and plantar fascia release to relieve Achilles tendinitis pain and am worse now 3.5 months post surgery and surgeon offering no solution other than PT which feels great in the moment but not doing anything to correct the nerve damage. Wish I didn’t have the surgery.

How is the fluid pushed out throught the shunt if it is not under increased pressure?
@summitmedicalinstitute24 күн бұрын
The shunt acts like a drain to divert the fluid.
@mikolajwojnicki216923 күн бұрын
@summitmedicalinstitute But the pressure would have to be increased for the fluid to flow out and this is "normal pressure" hydrocephalus

what is considered large cyst? how many mm? there was a 4mm synovial cyst in my lumbar spine found on my mri on the right however id ont have any right sided radiculopathy is this an incidental finding?
@summitmedicalinstitute24 күн бұрын
Good question. A lot is dependent on the exact location of a cyst and if it is compressing a nerve root.

I’ve had tonic clonic seizures i cannot wait till my next after over 10 yrs being told it’s epilepsy. I stopped my meds about 30 days ago. So my next seizure will kill me according to my lovely neurologist that couldn’t give a f about anything I have going on other than their pill game plan the epilepsy diagnosis . It will be a dame good laugh for him once he hears of my passing. What useless pos those Toronto neurologists are. 😭they ignored a clear IMAGE of my chiari in my 2014 yr MRI. I’ve been in pain since age 14 seizure started possibly at age 21 but could’ve been sooner due to them happening when is sleep and squish my already compressed brain even more. Like compress potentially all vital Brian stem nerves and veins Easily understood way easier than the dumb epilepsy firing off idiopathic for no reason… oh but ischmia triggers axonal excitability it’s such a laughing matter and most ppl having the so called epilepsy have issues like this ischemia increase’s glutamate then ion balance is disturbed atpase lowers then sodium and potassium move around and cause seizures. Having chiari compresses vital veins for blood flow to my brain but my neurologist has no idea I’m unsure why such a dumb person would ever be employed as such. I’m devastated wasted numerous years sick. Hope I go soon.

Greetings fellow chronically ill people! Commenting in case helps someone: been sick 5 years since a car accident. Had iih and other things really bad and am recovering! Can confirm IIH causes empty cella syndrome, weight gain,and water weight etc. It is a symptom not the cause. Pituatery health feedsback with gut health (I believe iih also causes leaky gut) and it is a rough cycle to break. There are medical articles about it. I did it though, I am a lot better! I was also recently diagnosed with cranio cervical instability which is the cause of my iih. I am on my second stem cell treatment and it is working. If you ever had a injury, concussion etc in your life a neck injury can show up way later as your neck becomes more unstable. I was diagnosed by digital motion x ray. I did a lot of things, one of which was seeing a vitamin doctor who understood and getting vitamin injections b12, etc. oddly alph lipoic acid helped me a lot as well, I do not know why. vitamin deficiency often does not show up in blood work until your whole body is depleted and it is a very complex topic. Vitamin deficiency did not ever show up in my bloodwork and I was very very deficent, low normal. I know I was close to permanent nerve damage. It took me months of injections to get my energy and joint pain under control. You can tell if it is working within first couple times, you will know. My IIh was missed on mri and by neuro optomologist. I had intense reaction to even small air pressure changes. Takes a lot of things to regain balance. Whatever your flavor of chronic illness keep going y'all we got this!
