That was a lot easier than the way I did it. I pulled it with a pick until the white clips hold onto the latch. Then you have to carefully hook the door handle without knocking the latch mechanism loose and having to redo it. lol took plenty of tries my way

Yes, it’s a bear. A lot of the recommendations on how to reload these German/European type handles advise using a string to lever it out.✌🏻

Ive always just used my air compressor nozzle to blast these lines clean. About 3 seconds blast in each hole your done. Id never stick anything inside one cause Ive seen these lines dislodge. They come loose pretty easy and being these lines snake quite a bit in cars/SUVs allowing anything one pushes inside these lines to get stuck. Then the entire head liner/pillar covers must come out on most cars. Real bitch there...lol So I just use air...

I'll bet if you use some type of brush and scrub in the right front corners with a little bit of water, the holes would appear for you, try it. Good luck✌

You can use 3D Printer Filament too. Works great when you don’t have trimmer line. I pulled it off an old spool and cut the end at a 45

If it’s on a GM truck, they have a hard bend or valve at about 10 inches so it’s not possible to do much with that - - don’t know what model car you’re working on though. If you pour water down the drain hole is it not draining below the car?

@@eldigitom9680 it's an 07 Chevy Silverado 2500. I didn't have time to try to pour water down it I'll try tomorrow evening. But it rained a lot last night and when I got in the truck this morning the ceiling was wet all around it.

I was doing this for several years, kept my floor dry. Unfortunately now my sunroof won't open so I need to fix that before I can unclog the drain...

Good luck, maybe take it to a sunroof specialty shop. I think they will get to the problem quicker than an auto body shop. I always urge people not to buy cars with a sunroof, they are an unnecessary source of water mess.

i have a vw passat 2014 , and the left door from behind is locked with the child safety lock on , the door does not open from inside OR outside , something is damaged inside . what do you think in order to open the door can I release the cable removing the door handle from outside (there is a hole on the side of the door where I am not able to rich with any tools-door being locked , or I need to destroy from inside the inner panel door ? if I DESTROY THE HANDLE FROM OUTSIDE DO YOU THINK I CAN OPEN THE DOOR FIRST , AND AFTER DISASAMLE THE THE INTERIOR PANEL , REMOVE THE DEFECTIVE PART AND INSTALL A NEW HANDLE IF DAMAGED .than you

Honestly, I’m not even sure where to start on that. Sometimes we’ll get a car in with that situation and we just try a million different things trying to gain access. They make cars anymore where it’s almost impossible to remove that interior trim panel without ruining it and they are very expensive to replace. So I’m afraid I’m not very helpful with your door problem.✌🏻

thank you, I know that either the interior panel or handle will be destroyed but if I REMOVE THE HANDLE FROM OUTSIDE CONSIDERING TO BUY A NEW ONE AFTER , DO YOU THINK I CAN OPEN AND UNLOCK THE DOOR , AND AFTER THAT I COULD REMOVE NORMALLY THE INSIDE DOOR PANEL USING SCREWDRIVER AFTER DOOR IS OPEN ?; IN OTHER WORDS IF I FORCE , DRILL, DAMAGE THE HANDLE FROM OUTSIDE (NOT HAVING ACCES FROM THE SIDE DOOR) DO YOU THINK I CAN OPEN THE DOOR ?

if the outside handle is not opening the door now, breaking it off will only give you access to the same lever the handle moves. So, no I don't think it will help. Are you sure the door is unlocking? Is there a locking stem coming out the top of trim panel? Or bumping the key fob constantly not unlocking the door?@@nickdabija2703

I’m getting water in the back. It’s leaking from above. Why would a clog in the front drain cause a leak in the back? 🤷‍♂️

Are the front drains open? Water will always find the easiest route of escape, not all drain systems are designed the same. Also, although most roof leaks are caused by plugged drains it may be coming in somewhere else. So, is the headliner getting soaked in the process?

@@eldigitom9680 The front drains drained slowly. I ran a small diameter tube down them along with blowing some air in them as well. They seem to be flowing better. I can’t get it to leak in the back when I pour water into the channels like it did before I cleared the lines. I just can’t figure out where the water would come from towards the BACK of the sunroof. Toyota is the absolute worst when it comes to water infiltration into the vehicle. I have a Highland that gets soaked as well! lol

@@Johnny-ip4mk bummer, I feel ya. But it’s not just Toyota that has problems with roof leaks. Cars should not be sold that have holes cut in the top. It’s just an unnecessary feature that is too common on cars.✌🏻

Found your video after probably 2yrs of the insides of my car stinking so bad after every rainstorm. My backseat, floor boards, and interior ceiling would be wet. So decided to try your method and am praying this was the issue. I’m going to wash my car tomorrow and I pray this worked 😅

DON'T USE COMPRESSED AIR, the lines were not made to handle pressure and will disconnect, especially if clogged at the end. And it's a nightmare to reconnect them

What if I’ve got a bench seat in the back? I have to remove the rear seat to get to the panel right?

Yes, I’m pretty sure that in order to obtain access to that rear cab section the seat would need to be removed. On some of those older F-150s the hold-down bolts for the seat are [incredibly] rusted. Good luck with the project✌🏻

A quick fix if you don’t use your sunroof like me is put a bead of Magic Lube lubricant and sealer around the gasket area at the outside of the roof. We use it for swimming pool business works great. Works in weather temperatures 0-425 degrees

Mine is clogged at firewall on passenger side. There is a filter at the end. What's best way to punch through the end. 2008 Altima. Weed eater cord didn't work. Heard 3d filament cord works good.

In the video, I only addressed simple clogs, which are mainly at the entrance of the drain hole because that’s what 90% of clogs are. If you have a clog that you’re convinced is that far down in the drain tube, it may be something you’ll need to take to a body shop. Otherwise it’s going to probably require removing the kick panel and or glove box door and evaluate it from there.

Sorry for the slow reply. The video does not address the rear drain holes because they are seldom if ever the cause of a clogging problem. If the two front holes are unclogged, there should be no water coming into the passenger compartment.

@@mgomez5606 yes, the rear ones are pretty much unaccessible without pulling the sunroof, which is a pretty large task and probably should only happen in a shop somewhere✌️

So I have to complete replace my windshield in order to clear the drain ( since you typically can’t safely remove windshields intact therefore not being able to reuse it to reinstall

That doesn’t sound right. Is it on a GM SUV? Some of those drains are located behind the dash but we have unclogged them and never had to remove a windshield. Also, glass companies routinely, remove and replace the same windshield without breaking it, those guys hardly ever break a windshield when removing. Good luck.

2016 Rav4 sunroof leak due to clogged drain. I tried your method and it worked - THANK YOU! My passenger seat and floor was soaked after we had a huge storm with lots of rain in a few hours. Poured water on the left side and drain was completely clogged. Tried to unclog myself but didn't work. Soaked up the standing water and then used the leaf blower. Worked like a charm! Used blower on the right side too. Now both drain super fast. Thanks so much - you saved me $ and frustration of trying to find someone to do it. Love this DIY!

@@magalirodriguez7830 depending on the nature of the leak, the wetness is usually isolated to the floorboard. It would be very unusual for the headliner to be wet, but I guess I can see how it would happen. I think it will just be a matter of time before it dries, but will probably leave a stain. When drying out the interior of a car, we usually open all the doors and blow fans through it.

I really hope this works for you. It's good to check these drains--by pouring a cupful water--from time to time as routine maintenance just to avoid buildup in those drain holes.

@eldigitom happened to my car (2018 Mercedes E300) and is dead now, about an inch water was there on front seats floor. I checked the battery has juice but no power in the car. Please suggest.

I would suggest you call AAA or a road service. I’m sure they can diagnose it for you, but it could be anything, but probably not something caused by a water leak. Good luck!✌️

@@eldigitom9680 I tried but ultimately we ended up towing the car to Mercedes dealership as no one could figure out. Apparently there are computer modules install under the driver seat which got flooded and fried and would cost a few grands to repair. Very bad design flaw by Mercedes to watch out for.

Don't blow compressed air down those tubes if they are blocked because you can blow the tubes off inside you roof lining or even further down and it is a lot of work to fix it. Always make sure that at least a bit of water is going down first then try to clear it with the trimmer line first an then you can use the air to finish off with.
