I don't remember if you mentioned how much you paid for these. I hope it wasn't a lot. I enjoy restoring old firearms, but they must bring something to the table. I have purchased from gun shows and a few from RTI. RTI is very iffy. I thought about hunter's Lodge, but hearing that wait time can be months, I have written that company off. Good luck in your endeavor.

Suncorite paint is the paint that is applied over parkerizing, I am unsure how to replicate it as the process of applying it was deemed hazardous to the environment. Maybe a Cerokote color would closely match. I would just parkerize it at home myself if you were looking to refinish it. Great video

Since those grips are already damaged, I think I would try JB weld plastic epoxy. They have a version that dries black. You could very likely fill in that entire missing portion and then blend it with some very fine sand paper. I tried to order from hunters lodge a few months ago but they never responded.

I do like that one. I do not have an item of that level, but I do appreciate S&W revolvers of the 'hand ejector' style. It does seem to be 'pre-Victory model' due to the nice finish. Being in .38 S&W caliber and being equipped with a lanyard ring, it strikes me as the first issue of what would be called the Victory Model. The Brits used the .38 S&W cartridge, known to the Brits as the ".880/200". They seem to appreciate three decimal places - even if not perfectly correct, and the 200 is the grain weight of the original cast lead bullet. (Bullet changed later to comply with international rules of warfare.) I cannot testify to the grips being original. I CAN testify those are the period correct 'service' stocks. They are 'used'. On the interior of the stock scales would be the serial number of the arm and perhaps some notation of Commonwealth or N Z possession. Interestingly, that round was reasonably common in the U. S. between the wars. it was used as police arm due to the 200 grain bullet which had a bit more authority than lighter bullets. (Different world, no doubt.) I have what is left of a Victory. Bears British proof marks on the chambers. However, it is a surplus gun that was cut off even with the ejector rod (no front lug), the lanyard removed, rechambered (hogged out?) to accept .38 Special ammunition and then nickle plated in what seems to have been a fly-by-night bumper shop. It was so ugly and sad looking I had to give it a home. As I write this, the legend reads this video is '2 years..." old. Still a delightful bit of S&W-ness, history and the evolution of firearms.

These pistols are like eating potato chips. Once you start buying them it's hard to stop... So far, I've bought five regular P38's and P1's in both ex-German military and commercial as well as two Manurhins which is an exact clone that was made by the French for the west German police in the early 1960s in order to get around a WW2 treaty that Germany signed with the Russians after the war stating that they would not produce their own weapons... Great video, Thanks for the shout-out, brother. The guy you got a hold of was probably George, and the lady was probably Gail.... As you know from my videos, I have a double action only Enfield revolver(38S&W,or as the Brits call itt .38/200) and three S&W Model 10's.. I, too, had an issue with an S&W Model 10 parts kit. The first two were ok,the last one was just like yours. So I used leftover parts from the other two. But I'm still needing a correct firing pin for my most recent Model 10.. To be honest, IMO both those FR8s are salvageable, assuming the bores are in decent shape. Just takes some PB blaster and elbow grease. As for the screws, you may need a hand impact, or a screw knocker on an air hammer they'll come loose. Those ishapore 410 enfields brought in by springfield sporters/century arms have far heavier rust and I brought one back.

Of all the interesting things you got, the one that gets my interest is the Webley/Enfield revolver. Before the complete ban on handguns in Britain, there were a ton of these around and I learned target pistol competition with one of them. When the ban came, they all got handed in to the police and destroyed. A very sad time for someone who also loves revolvers.
