I have a bm59 E, which was made by P. Beretta and Breda, for Argentina, converting an M1, to 7.62,x51 in the years 1967 and 1968, tri-compensator, rubber buttplate, semi and fullauto, very controllable in fullauto . They give a lot of pleasure to shoot. greetings from Argentina

According to a fellow I met at the SHOT SHOW many years ago, the dark "grain line" is common in European walnut. I have an original BM 59 stock with this. The dark line(s) are supposed to be caused by minerals in the water that fed the tree. I also have several stocks without any lines at all. All of them seem to be as hard or harder than American black walnut. They were made on Winchester equipment at the Terni Arsenal.

Very interesting. They are both very nice stocks. Great to hear some background on the highly visible grain line! The project was completed and came out really well. Thanks for sharing your information. All the best and take care.

Gone are the days of NOS BM59 E parts. I'd find some US GI Garand parts before using those cast POS parts. SAIU take off barrel $30 from Sarco in 2015. NOS BM59E brakes $30 from Standard Parts.

Really cool pictures at the end. Not a gun I knew a lot about until just now. You should do a video on the red rider BB gun. We all had one. Restore one or something. Or take one all the way apart like you do.

Good idea, I might try one sometime. I know I have one sitting in a closet somewhere.

As one who was issued an M14 as a young soldier in 1962, I can say that it is not at all uncomfortable to shoot or keep on target in semi auto fire. It is only in full auto fire that it I'd difficult.

Full auto is what I was referring to. Otherwise they are both great shooters. The BM59 is just a personal favorite. Thanks for the comment!

Great parts kit ! The BM 59 looks like a superior option compared to the M14 (easier to shoot, and to reload). Do you plan on shooting it for a video ?

Yes Sir! I'll be doing all the follow ups and will be test firing it in the end. I'm looking forward to it. Receiver should be in by next week.

I disagree with the statement that the M-14 is "uncomfortable". It is the most pleasant full power rifle I have ever owned, and I find it a joy to shoot, although I am looking forward to assembling my recently acquired BM-59E parts kit. Two things that would mitigate the BM-59s recoil would be it's slightly increased weight over the M-14, plus the M14's flash suppressor did not give any recoil recoil, as opposed to the BM-59's muzzle brake. However, the M-14E2's recoil-reducing attachment makes the already pleasant M-14 experience even more so.

I appreciate your opinions. I'll admit I don't have much trigger time with the M-14 as others so my opinion is only that. When it comes to the 7.62 NATO I do enjoy shooting BM59 more than anything. I would love to try one with the tri-comp as I bet thats even more comfortable. I like the "E" version because its most like an M1. Wishing you the best on your assembly and hopefully you enjoy the E version as well. Out of curiosity, did you receive a lot of Beretta parts or mostly modified GI parts?

I'm building one now. My channel is Navyvet76. What headspace gages do you use? .308 winchester, or 7.62x51 nato?
