Why it's popular: because it's a free, standalone mod. No official games needed. Thus, newbies flock to it. Why it's disliked by OG STALKER fans: it's used by said newbies as the gateway "into" STALKER, which has absolutely twisted these zoomers' understanding of what STALKER even is. Anomaly and Gamma are MASSIVE sandbox mods. No, they do NOT "combine all 3 games into one", they just steal the MAPS from them. There's no story, no similar well structured progression as in the OG games. It's just DayZ-like survival for the sake of survival... as in literally ANTI-STALKER in nature. And the amount of pure bloat and tonal shift cannot be ignored.

I started with Stalker again this month on my Steam Deck 😊 I played it back when it came out. I have 2 Installations: Stalker SOC Oblivion Lost and Stalker Anomaly. And yes they play different! I miss the Story in Anomaly but love the Features of OL

First started playing stalker back in 2007, and for a long time, I refused to play anomaly, because to me it always felt like a bastardisation of what « real » stalker games are supposed to be Then I actually tried and played anomaly, and holy sht…. It actually became one of my favourite games ever lmao, and the fact that the whole thing is FREE is absolutely mind blowing to me

If you're looking for a Stalker style Roleplay Experience you should look into DayZ Stalker Server's. The survival mechanics work a little better in my opinion.

its just a shame how hard it is to make a modded server, arma 3 you just hit 1 button to install a mod but reforger its like a 5 step process just to install 1 mod .

Just had my first 5 hour adventure on the server and people I have met and what we experience together was beyond words. Even how we all met was an adventure on its own. Its was nothing less than ABSOLUTE EPIC! Felt lived in because of the player driven ecosystem even when its work in progress and things are being changed on go as you are playing. (Which might lead to awkward death) But if you manage to meet somebody friendly than you are getting an opportunity to make yourself a name in stalker universe.

I'm trying so hard to get into this game but god damn I can't take 2 steps without dying. I've gotten spotting the anomalies down now but the boars and hostile people are so fucking powerful. I even have it on the easiest setting. Any time I go to do anything outside Rookie I die. I have made absolutely no progress at all and I've played for several hours. What can I do to get past the very beginning? The missions are either way to hard for me or in other zones I'm no where near prepared for. I just can't progress past the very start of the game but I love the game. I want to keep playing but I'm being pushed away because of the extreme difficulty. I'm asking for honest help, I know "get gud" but any helpful tips or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Actually I guess it's AI mechanism needs to be improved for more intense and sensible play. If u make a game more intense illogically that don't count. That's what got to improved in it. To get more realistic feel of combat. 😊

Maybe i do it wrong on this game, but i spend half my time trying to get into servers, officials that is. Should i be looking to play the modded version? Its off putting having like 2 hours a night to play, and having to sit in a 30 min queue in order to get into an english official server like

Sadly it's still far away from being great. Bohemia seems to be only a shell of their former selfs. If you criticize anything on their Steam forums, they just perma ban you - not only on their Reforger-forum. Same goes for DayZ, A3, etc.

Now that the game finally released, I'm thinking of playing it more this year tbh.

Happy new year man. Tbh. I love it - I love the chaos and the funny and dumb shit that is happening. Its like the beginning of Reforger all over again. Im laughing my ass off because this times will go away. And at some point in the future you will think back and say man that shit was funny af :D

Gamma is less hard and more tedious in my experience and didn't really hook me in, this is coming from someone who played the hell out of stalker misery

Deadside is way better now and just makes for a good time it’s a good in between with a rust gameplay loop and dayz combat. I have 2k hours in rust and 3k in dayz but dayz is just not enough fun for the time, I feel like dayz is an experience and I don’t got time for that and nether do the boys and rust just pisses me off sometimes 😂 so it fills the gap nicely they need to increase the upkeep for your base tho to cheap to have a fortress for the whole wipe
