I've never had a carb fail in all my years... odd...

The 57 and 58 did not have a fuel pump? I missed the first video. Have you modified them and added in fuel pumps?
@rickrodt13 сағат бұрын
When you had the carb apart in Video 1, it appeared that the seal between the lower bowl and the carb was badly grooved. This is the seal that goes around the carb pick up tube and it has to seal otherwise the fuel will not go up the tube and out to the venturi. This is just a suggestion. This could be causing you to run with the choke on, making the fuel come up the pick up tube.

Good afternoon, im having a no spark issue after running my mercruiser 3.0 with DDIS system. it will run perfect for 1 hour or so, then it will just turn off with no spark while in the water. no spark at the coil but will turn right back on when the motor cools down.

Hey T Mike all so helpful thanks a bunch Ron here in Wisconsin I’ve got a 12.9 west bend needing the shifter linkage in the lower unit any luck you might know where I might acquire?
If you have any trouble with your Evinrude /Johnson (OMC) engine, these are the videos to look at. T-Mike knows what to do and how to do it correctly. :)

Thanks a lot, Mike! :) It confirmed what I was thinking. No need for a timing tool complicated dicking around on it. Just like any old motor with points...adjust them at the TDC and that's it. I saw another video showing a 40 $ timing tool which is no more than a piece of metal bent 90 degrees on both ends and ground to a point...oh and a bushing in it with a keyway. Your method will work on my Johnson Seahorse 3 HP (1964) and my Evinrude Sport Twin (1970).

Hello first of all you've helped me out so much by watching your videos I think they're the greatest I'm a newbie I just bought 14 ft Larson fiberglass boat a 1963 it has a Mercury 50 horsepower 4 cylinder 2-cycle my question is the distributor rotates a quarter inch back and forth when I put it in neutral and raise the throttle the distributor moves to that position and stays there is that normal 4 the distributor to move back and forth like that. I really appreciate your answer. Thank you so very much Bill karras.

@MarkDean13138 күн бұрын
Not the best two motors to use for illustration. While your definitions are correct, the 9.5 showed as a long shaft. Your first measurement gave you 15" to the gear case, not the cav plate - and when defining it to the cav plate, it is considerably lower than the keel. The Yachtwin does appear to be 20", but that model was sold as an XL. It's a sailboat motor. It might be worth revisiting this vid as the comments reflect the confusion.
