Good to know. I worry with general road conditions as well as snow and ice that something will fly up and damage something. Better to have it than not. Thanks for the comment.

Ive had this problem since i bought my 2017 escape 1/2 yrs ago the ford dealer ship cant figure out why its happening , i think i figured it out its $500 a pop for me on my warranty i bought for $3200 ,extended warranties on a used vehicle is ;not usual but im a fool who keeps paying for it my question is why has it happened 3 times since i bought the car in june of 2023🤷🏿♂️
@schufledoes27 күн бұрын
That’s a bummer! Maybe you should call the dealership and ask them about a possible manufacturing defect? Why it keeps happening I have no idea. If they are all ford motor company genuine parts I think you should be under some kind of warranty. Good luck with that though.

Thanks for the video! Question: I noticed you put the drip edge on top of the felt. Is there a rhyme or reason to this that's worth knowing about? The instruction guide I read showed the felt on top of the drip edge, so that's what I did. Hopefully not in a way that requires me to replace this roof in a year or two!
@schufledoes2 ай бұрын
In a traditional asphalt shingles roof the drip edge should be under the felt paper. With the rolled roofing, the entire bottom edge is completely covered with tar and seals all the components together. Good catch. That's for watching.
@ramroad20082 ай бұрын
Rolled roof is for flat or little pitch. You should have matched your shingles on your house.
@schufledoes2 ай бұрын
Rolled asphalt shingles should not be installed on flat or low slope roofs. That is not what they are designed for. Most rolled asphalt roofing products are for 4/12 pitch and greater. There are other products like membrane roofing or a TPO roof or rubber roof for low slope flat roof. Tha KS for watching though.

Any solution for when the screws coming down from the body of the car are rusted and the thread the gone? Even if I replace the plastic clips (w790373-s900), I doubt they’ll hang onto the rusted/worn out screws. Thoughts?

Not sure on that, but I would assume if you can weld, you might be able to grind/cut off the old one and weld a new threaded stud to attack to. Just a thought. Thanks for watching

Wouldn’t it be better to use cold adhesive instead of nailing holes through the granulated roll?

Well it isn't an issue installing it the way I show. You can do some cold adhesive, but I am unsure how that works or how well it would stand up over time without a mechanical fastener. Thank you

How do you pull it out - just pull hard ? Will that pull the tile out ?
@schufledoes5 ай бұрын
@TeslaRules1856 if you are talking about the old can undo those clips I show and it falls right out. The new one and the spring clips you can easily pry if down with your fingers and secure the light as well as the ceiling tile. I would not suggest just pulling down that will break the ceiling tile.

You did it your way, but you did not do it the right way. 1st of all your "Base Paper" should be at least 30# felt, but should be an actual base paper which is heavier. It should be nailed down with 1" headed tin caps, Plastic caps would work too. Using staples will not allow your base to hold down enough. A heavy wind can easily pull this roof off. By using the 1" headed caps the base will hold down during heavy wind. You do not want exposed nails as they will work loose in time from the heating and cooling of the nail. You also should put "dots" of Plastic Roof cement throughout the middle of the base paper to keep the 90# held down in the middle and from wrinkling over time. You do not need to nail the outside edge through the 90# or the bottom edge as the base 1" headed nails and the plastic cement will keep it held down. THIS VIDEO IS NOT A GOOD GUIDE.
@schufledoes6 ай бұрын
Well, those are some thoughts. Thanks for watching and for your thoughts. This roof has held fine for years now and through a few different 60+ mph storms. Looks as good as the day it was installed, and nothing has worked loose or changed. In WI we go from -20 (or below) up to 100's and with that temp swing, the roof is doing awesome. Thanks again for the view.

Thanks for the video and view here, drivers side splash is starting to rattle, least know i know how it goes together - ironically i am about 10 mins from ann arbor varsity ford so ill go in and see if i cant get those round retainers w790373-s900 - how many did you get and replace total on that one side i think there were maybe 6 total plus the two screw like ones up front?
@schufledoes8 ай бұрын
I think your right on the count. Send like the package of them was plenty to replace the broken ones at the time of the video and since.
@TropicanaBanana8 ай бұрын
Can you change them all the same color from the app or do you have to change them all individually from the app… I guess what I’m saying is can you group them all together and say hit green and they all turn green at the same time? Thanks for the video!😊
@schufledoes8 ай бұрын
Short answer yes, you can control all at once if in a room. So I have each soffit light (12 of them) set up individually, then I have them grouped to The Exterior. I can ask Alexa to "change the exterior color to green" and they all change to the same color. So you technically don't even need the app to do it, but you can also set the entire room to one color. Hope that helps
@TropicanaBanana8 ай бұрын
@@schufledoes Awesome thanks, at first was going to get the Hubspace string lights then seen the Hubspace rope which also looks pretty cool but I think I’m going to stick to the recessed lights and the soffits just gives a cleaner look!

The string lights do look pretty cool though because in the app they already have presets for the different holidays. It looks like.

So for drivers side splash shield id want to get minimum of 4 of those push up retainer round things, then 2 of the sorta plastic screws total? I may just order up like a dozen so nextime it happens again i got a few spare...

Why is roll roofing the preferred thing on low slope roof? Is it that it remains unbroken for large spans of distance so it can move the water easier than if it was a bunch of shingles?
@schufledoes9 ай бұрын
I'm not sure it is preferred on low slope. Typical asphalt shingles can go down to 4:12. Some say rolled asphalt roofing can go down to 2:12 which I think is the absolute minimum I would ever go. Likely not going under 4:12. Once your below 2:12 your looking at a monolithic sheet membrane like a rubber roof or TPO or similar. Some reasons why this can go a lower slope than an asphalt shingle is the seam and how more likely water can back track up and under the tab of the typical shingle at low slopes. Hope that helps
