great advice; my 1750 TBi Sportswagon ha exactly the same leak as shown here. And a new pump for a Tbi is £480 in the UK, So I'm going to do this repair. Thanks to 'Serpent Crown'

@@Ferrarirarirari Hallo! Also ich kenne das Problem vom 3.2 und vom Tbi. Beim Diesel kann ich es dir nicht sagen. Ich habe Benzingeruch ausserhalb des Wagens festgestellt…der Geruch war grade im Sommer nach einer Fahrt penetrant wahrzunehmen. Bei meinem Brera hatte ich sogar Benzin Geruch im Auto

@@sijbrendejong8502 Der QP ist mit dem ZF unkaputtbar. Regelmäßig Öl, Riemen etc, und mal Getriebeölwechsel falls noch nicht gemacht. Meiner hat 146tkm - kein Ölverbrauch - Öl ist noch nicht mal schwarz!

I got this exact problem on a 2010 Spider… not so easy to access! I order a new pump for low price but the gasket is not available. I will try JB Weld like you did here… it’s an epoxy glue/filler. Thanks!!

Since I did this I have no more smell and no problems! Everything is dry and close….

@@serpentcrown after 20hrs the epoxy was fully set. So far so good… if not I have found a marine/water version that is also petrol/chemical resistant. Only 6£ gbp

its not the gasket that leaks, its the outer cap of the vacuum pump that is held by torx screws.

@@serpentcrown The manual gearbox in the Alfa 159, known as the M32, has a maximum torque capacity of around 320-340 Nm. With the increase of 45 horsepower, you're approximately adding about 72 Nm of torque, bringing the total to around 392 Nm. This is why the 159 is limited to 200 horsepower, while the Giulietta, using a more robust C635 gearbox, can handle up to 240 horsepower with a similar engine setup. Additionally, the clutch in the 159 TBI is known to be at its torque limit, and you would need to consider upgrading to a reinforced clutch. The turbocharger in the 159 TBI is also relatively small, which further limits durability under increased stress. It's likely neither the gearbox, the clutch, nor the turbo will last very long with these modifications. It's often best to keep cars as designed by the engineers, rather than modifying them based on non-professional advice. Engineers design vehicles with specific tolerances for performance and durability

I tried soldering plastic but it only lasted for 3 months. I ended up having to buy a new pump from Hungary for a little less than 400,-€. I haven't had any problems since then. I learned that you shouldn't experiment with the fuel pump or you'll end up in a mess.

as we talked, you did an external repair using silica or glass beads, it would be better at least to use a Dremel tool to open the crack up for repair nonetheless since failure there is a fire hazard I would advise against doing that!
