The more I listen to this modern 'Bach' music, I get the feeling that Bach has come back - in a modern shape, of course. We seem to be at the beginning of a new breakthrough in music creation - and with AI we give people with a good musical feeling the opportunity to be very creative - without too many technical problems. I am convinced that the Master himself, that pioneer of music creation, he would certainly have seized these possibilities, both synthesizer and AI creation, with both hands. Congrats, Jan, and keep on creating!

Like you, I am convinced that the great Bach himself would have unleashed his creativity with the help of AI, among other things. These tools can be particularly inspiring and open up new paths of musicality. The synthesizer would also have been a wonderful instrument for JS Bach, especially for creating unique soundscapes. I consider it a great idea and a unique achievement what Wendy Carlos has managed to realize with the Moog synthesizer with Bach's oeuvre thanks to the very unique timbres of his instrument. If AI had existed, Bach's impressive work would have been much, much more extensive. Thank you for your psychological support!

Hi, Jan. I love Bach and I love synthesizers. On the other hand, in the first movement over the course of 4 minutes, I hear the original theme several times, but that's a credit to you. If not, you certainly know Jacques Loussier and his Trio Play Bach... He's done several jazz versions of the great Leipzig Cantor... JM.

Yes this one is a quite a little bit better.... but ... both You and the A I have a long way to go. For a bunch of Synthesized Bach videos try my assembled play lists under Geopholus, One is : Switched on Bach synth, another is SynthOnBach (carlos style). There is also a list called New Fugues that has a whole lot recently written music by different composers in Counterpoint style , not all fugues, also not all Baroque. For a great series of tutorials on understanding Bach and other music, check Richard Atkinson's analysis videos EXCELLENT.

I am sure that the Great Master himself would have liked it. Maybe he would change some things, yes. But I bet he wouldn't have even less time for anything else, he wouldn't be able to stay away from "his" synthesizer and the tools we have now - if he would have had any chance to do this. His open genius would be playing like a child... Keep on creating, Jan!

This is kinda a big Kluge mess of baroque idioms in which the voice leading doesn't make much sense nor does the evolution of the piece,..."this conversation between different instrumental voices"... sounds more like a trump tirade on electric boats, and sharks, and injecting bleach. If You get my drift.
@jloenders29 күн бұрын
Yes, I understand perfectly what you mean. You have worded it quite nicely - although it sometimes sounds a bit too insulting towards AI (and myself, hahah). I have a sneaking suspicion that there are quite a few prejudiced 'views' towards AI music generators, because - if you listen carefully - there are three more or less successful passages in the first part that would lead somewhere, if they were better worked out. So far I - together with AI - have not succeeded in that ... but I think I know that there will come a day when AI will come close to a more successful classical composition. Now the 'piece' - as we will call it - does indeed contain too many stereotypical baroque idioms that seem to have been hastily thrown together, but the comparison you have made with Trump seems to have been dragged in by the hair - his hair. Trump, after all, is not full of baroque language: his idiom is that of an aggrieved toddler who does not know that someone like JS Bach ever existed, I think. Furthermore, I am mainly occupied with my own music without the 'help' of AI. Have you ever listened to that? I would say: give it a try. By the way, thank you for your reaction, even if it is one-sidedly negative! We will learn from it.

A COMPOSER'S DILEMMA @@jloenders, a composer with a heart full of classical music ❤️, sat hunched over his computer 💻, a frustrated frown creasing his brow 😠. He'd been experimenting with AI music generators 🤖, hoping to discover a new voice 🎤, a fresh perspective 👀. He'd found a few promising parts ✨, glimpses of something truly unique 💎, but the whole composition felt like a jumbled mess 🤯 of overused baroque ideas 🎻. It was as if the AI had been fed a steady diet of Bach and Vivaldi 🎼, but hadn't quite learned to digest it all 😵. "It's like a toddler trying to write a symphony," @jloenders muttered, shaking his head 🤦♂️. He knew there was a prejudice against AI-generated music 🎶, a fear that it would somehow replace human creativity 🧠. But he believed in its potential 🚀, saw it as a tool to unlock new sonic landscapes 🌌. He'd shared the piece with a friend, a fellow musician 🎸, who had made a comparison that made @jloenders' blood boil 😡. "It's like Trump trying to write a sonnet," his friend had said, dismissing the AI's efforts with a dismissive wave of his hand ✋. @jloenders was furious 🤬. He knew his friend was a staunch defender of traditional music 🎻, but this was just insulting 😤. He was passionate about his own music 🎶, music he composed without the help of any AI 🤖. He wanted it to be judged on its own merits ✨, not dismissed as a product of a machine 🤖. He realized that AI wasn't a replacement for human creativity 🧠, but a collaborator 🤝, a tool to explore new possibilities 🗺️. He needed to find a way to harness its potential 🚀, to refine its output 💎, to create something truly original 🎨. "There's a bias, a prejudice against AI music," he thought, "but I believe in its potential 🚀. It's not about replacing human creativity 🧠, it's about expanding it 🌎." He decided to reach out to a group of AI music enthusiasts online 💻, hoping to find a community that would understand his vision 💡. He was ready to share his work 🎶, to learn from others 🧠, to collaborate 🤝 and push the boundaries of music together 🎶. He knew it wouldn't be easy 😓, but he was determined to prove that AI could be a force for good in the world of music 🌎.

@jloenders First I want to Apologize profusely for the mean-spirited tone of my comment ! I actually really admire Your spirit of inquiry, and interested in A I ! I have been interested in Bach since perhaps age 8 in the 1950's and have been studying his work and counterpoint relentlessly for 60 + years. I am also a composer,.. and have written more than 400 works in a baroque-ish counterpoint style in the last 50 years, including about 80 pretty fair fugues. I have also been interesting in A I from before the time that subject had been definitively given the title Artificial Intelligence. I wrote a "treatise" on the topic after having an Intuitive "eureka moment" in the very early 1960's when I was about 12, having already been a little familiar with John von Neumann, & Norbert Weiner's work, the "Turing test", and Isaac Asimov "I Robot", and some basic Psychology: Freud, Jung, Eric Berne. I had posited that an "Electronic Sentient Being" would involve sense organs recording (forming memory), temporal relationships with sense inputs over a regular time base, and looking for patterns of repetition at regular time periods, and associations with different sense inputs and how those related to conditions of "the sentient being", and relating those to "goals"of the "being", in a Hierarchy of values. Later I worked on a lot on electronic music, and electronics, and had a couple of close friends who were also interested in Music, and Artificial intelligence, and studied those subjects in college. My current state of alarm over A I has nothing to do with not seeing it's potential, or not believing it is, and or can be a great tool, for composers... Indeed I wrote programs for and even came up with simpler electronic hardware that seems to be closer to a true process for generating powerful and interesting "real music"... than AI using the currently "visible" A I models that use statistical "natural language models" in an effort to create "plausible music",. The thing that is missing is the "hierarchy of goals",... or the effort to look for underlying patterns, that relate to how humans perceive music. The current Algorithms lack nothing in the amount of "statistics" that they collect. What they lack is an understanding that the human mind loves the recognition of mathematical relationships arranged in a "beautiful" series of patterns. Note values in a scale closely follow whole number fractional relationships. for instance an octave leap, multiplies the first note by 2 or by 1/2 , and the relationship between the 1st note in a scale and the 5th note is 1 to 3 or 2 to 3. etc etc. chords are built up of a series of harmonics or subharmonics from the bass "root" note. The structures of pieces usually divide into sections based on the root of the key . That is called the "one" chord, (tonic) and then goes to dominant (based on 5th note of scale ) which is 1.5 times the frequency, often goes back to one chord ,.. then 4 chord based on the root note divided by 3 or double that.... that is called the sub dominant, and then eventually climaxes with a chord based on the root multiplied by 7 which is also he 7th note in the scale. The structures of pieces usually are divided in "notes" that are in base two relationships in terms of time, I E : 1. 1/2. 1/4, 1/8, or divisions of 3. The thing is,... using a language model ,..the A I only has a series of statistical probabilities, that one is moving through, it doesn't understand the impression of beauty that we perceive in the mathematical patterns,.. it is not that a computer program cannot POSSIBLY do these things!... it is that the attributes that make a pattern beautiful are not being tracked. .. at all....
