How do contend with the argument that older generations (before the internet) were taught PEMDAS and can get the answers correct? Now all of sudden PEMDAS (Mnemonic-Memory Aid) for the Order of Operations is incorrect? I dont buy it. The Ambiguity comes in because 1 of 2 things 1. Teacher's are not explaining Mnemonics correctly (I don't believe this). If that were the case, that would mean every teacher who taught PEMDAS would be wrong for teaching it. 2. Students aren't paying attention in math class when these types of problems are being presented. Students then want to blame the education system for not showing them (I believe this).

Hey man, really appreciate this video. We've been reviewing direct, inverse, and joint variation, but for joint variation especially, this was very helpful. Keep up the great work, and I wish you good luck on 100K so more people can see this!

My scientific calculator when I put in 6/2(2+1) gives me 1 as the result not 9. So obviously BIDMAS does not apply in this case (and, I suppose, in plenty other cases). While I do understand how the result of 1 was reached, I don't understand why BIDMAS fails in this case, and what other rule, that 'overrules' BIDMAS, applies instead (and, please, those of you with degrees in maths, engineering, physics, and whatnot, or adolescents with good maths, don't bother to show off here, unless you can clearly communicate -which requires special skills and experience- what you already know to those who don't, thank you).

😊 Ps. Muitíssimo obrigado pelo seus ótimos vídeos🙏🏼🫂

This is why YOUR video, is completely wrong usining a simple fact that you probably didn't know, the division symbol (÷) and the fraction symbol (/) are not the same thing, when you have let's say a/bc, it's not the same as a÷bc, The Division Sign (÷) represents the operation of division in a single symbol. For example, a ÷ b directly indicates that a is being divided by b, Generally, it does not show the result as a part of a whole, It simply indicates an operation. as opposed to The Fraction Notation (/) that represents division as a ratio or fraction. For instance, a/b also indicates that a is divided by b, but it can also imply a relationship between a and b as parts of a whole, it provides a visual representation of division as a part-to-whole relationship, making it clearer when working with composite fractions or more complex mathematical expressions. For example, 3/4 clearly indicates three parts of a whole that is divided into four. Or if we bring another constant (C), Then in this instance the Division Sign (÷) Which Represents the operation of division using a single symbol, with an example of : A÷B÷C: This indicates A divided by B, and then the result divided by C. as opposed to the Fraction Notation (/) Will Represent a division in a more structured format. For instance: A/(B×C): This indicates A is divided by the product of B and C. In contrast, (A/B)/C shows that A is first divided by B, and the result is then divided by C. So again, PEMDAS is not wrong, and the equation does really equal to 9. Just simplify the equation when defining 6 as X and treating the answer as 9, divide both sides by (2+1), we'll get x/2=9/(2+1), now solve for X to get X=6, which is what we defined X as. Now do the exact same thing but treat the equation as equal to 1, we again divide both sides by (2+1) to get x/2=1/(2+1), solve for X, x/2=1/3, x=2/3 which is NOT what we defined X to be. Now really we got real answers without the Division Sign in them, by simplifying the equation we get the exact same thing but in a different way. In conclusion, yes the answer is 6, and yes both the Division Operator and the Fraction Notation do represent the operation of "Division" but simply in different ways.
