Thumbs up! When gain staging my 2 track beat to ODBVU using a VU meter.. should i be in pre fader metering with all my faders at unity gain? Thanks
@Moridersmusic
@Moridersmusic 26 күн бұрын
When gain staging to 0dBVU using a VU meter, use pre-fader metering to get an accurate reading. Keep your faders at unity gain (0 dB) while setting the initial levels. This ensures your signal remains clean and balanced. Hope this helps!

So you want it to peak at 0 on the VU meter or -6 lol
@Moridersmusic
@Moridersmusic Ай бұрын
You should aim for 0 VU on the VU meter to ensure a well-balanced mix, particularly for your instrumental tracks. However, on your master bus, it's important to keep your peaks between -6 dBFS and -3 dBFS before mastering to ensure enough headroom and avoid clipping. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching.

@@Moridersmusic last night I had the VU meter set at -15 and had my vocals kissing 0 on the VU meter and they were way too loud. I think the recording levels were too high though. I used clip gain to get the vu meter to kiss 0

would u like to master one of my songs in a video tutorial ?
@Moridersmusic
@Moridersmusic 3 ай бұрын
Yes, I'd be interested if the song meets the channel's standards. I actually need to review a mastering plugin, so this could be a great opportunity. However, for me to master this song effectively, it needs to be well-mixed and of high enough quality to be featured on my channel.

so after you get your vocal chain setup on the main vocal, do you just duplicate those settings for the doubles or do you edit there effects differently ??
@Moridersmusic
@Moridersmusic 3 ай бұрын
It really depends on the specific effect you're aiming for with the doubles. In this video, I applied the same vocal chain settings to the vocal stacks because I wanted a uniform sound across the main vocal and the doubles. The only variations I made were in the volume and panning to achieve the layered stacking effect. I hope that clarifies things. Thanks for watching!

To use 'Fresh Air' and 'Wider', you'll first need to download them from their official websites they are both free. For the other plugins featured in the video, you can find them built into Logic Pro X. Just open a track in Logic, click on the 'Audio FX' slot, and you'll see a list of plugins where you can select the ones I showed. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!

Careful with cutting lows, if you gonna do that I’d add another eq to make sure the bass and good low frequencies stay in the mix so that everything doesn’t sound so separated. A lot of the low frequencies, in the mastering aspect, help make the track as a whole more exciting.
@Moridersmusic
@Moridersmusic 6 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment! You're absolutely right about the importance of preserving good low frequencies in a mix. The intention behind cutting below 20-30 Hz is that these frequencies are generally below the threshold of human hearing and can contribute to unnecessary muddiness or take up headroom in the mix. By applying a high-pass filter in this range, we can clean up the lowest end without affecting the audible bass frequencies that add fullness and warmth. Thanks for your feedback and for watching!

Merci pour cette vidéo🙏 donc si j’ai bien compris je met un vu meter sur le master et à la fin mon beat ne doit pas dépasser le 0 dans le vu meter ?
@Moridersmusic
@Moridersmusic 6 ай бұрын
( clip gain ) thanks for watching! 😎

How come your raw rap vocal sounds so flat, when it sounds very boomy when you are talking in the tutorial?
@Moridersmusic
@Moridersmusic 6 ай бұрын
The settings on the back of my Shure SM7B are all flat. I haven't adjusted the line in, I prefer not to touch the mic EQ and do everything during mixing. Regarding the boomy sound in the tutorials when I'm speaking into the mic, there's no processing - it's all directly from the interface. Thanks for watching!

a little over polished, i think if you removed the boost on the highs in the second eq and pulled ur saturation back a bit it would tame it a bit. also just out of curiosity, whats the purpose of cutting lows on the first eq only to boost them back in the second? seems rather counter productive
@Moridersmusic
@Moridersmusic 7 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and I appreciate your feedback, as for the lows, the lows I’ve cut in the first eq was to get rid of the floor noise and all the low end in the voice. On the second eq I did increase a little bit the lows to give back a bit of body in the vocals to not make them sound thin, but because the lows was fully cut in the first eq, by doing it this way, there’s no risk of bringing back the floor noise or any frequency problems back to the vocals since there were cut in the first place. If that make sense. Thanks again for watching!
