Sorry to ask I’m Not sure if you’ve already addressed this, but are you doing IVF? Or were you dating someone and chose to have the baby by yourself? I’m in the same dilemma and really want a baby before I turn 40 in currently 38 and it’s not that I think I’m too old I just want to be able to enjoy the baby! So my dilemma is, do I look into IVF or do I choose a partner and have the baby with him

I am currently doing IUIs with donor sperm. I am in the same boat…ready to be a mom but don’t have a partner and don’t want to settle for the wrong relationship just to have a baby so i went to donor option. If my next IUI doesnt work then i will move to IvF.

I am a single mom by choice as well. I had 5 failed IUI's. Either not taking or ending in miscarriage. I then did a round of IVF with my first donor. And that didn't take. My doctor suggested switching donors and doing an ERA test. We did another round of IVF as I only got one embryo from that first donor, and that was all the magic. 4 years later I had my first princess, and thinking it would take just as long to get baby 2 I did a 3rd round of IVF had an amazing cycle and got pregnant immediately. My girls are 2 years and 2 months apart. They are amazing. Believe me the fight and heartache is worth it in the end. I started to try around 30 or 31 so I know your struggles. ❤

I think for the first time it gave me piece of mind knowing that the tests were accurate. My trigger was out of my system around the same time this cycle. It really adds to the mental challenge in my opinion though. I won’t test out my trigger next time and try not to think about it as much. Testing out the trigger every day keeps it top of mind and that adds to my stress.

I’m so sorry it didn’t work this time but I just know you will have luck soon!! Don’t give up girl!! I went through this same process. With my first kid, I did 3 unmedicated IUIs (with no trigger shot)and it worked on my 3rd try. Something that worked really well for me was using the Premom ovulation test strips and the Easy@Home ovulation test strips. They are different from other test strips because they give you an actual number of how strong your LH surge is. You will scan the strip with your phone and then see the number in the app you download. You can pinpoint the time you are actually surging with the strength of the number and then time the IUI accordingly several hours later. Timing is so important with IUIs and I really think that these test strips are very very helpful and will help you too. I bought them on Amazon and I used them along with the normal Clearblue ovulation strips. It was neat seeing how all the strips showed me surging when I was surging and I had matches across the board with the strips. The more info the better! Anyway just wanted to suggest them. I hope you will check them out and use them next time. Good luck and positive vibes your way! 😊❤

I just want to assure you that stress will not prevent you getting pregnant. The studies around stress are it sometimes mess up ovulation cycles for those trying via intercourse, which wouldn't impact medicated cycles. Also stressed folks sometimes have less intercourse or drink more which can slightly impact fertility...but it is almost all about decreasing the opportunities to get pregnant for folks having sex with a partner and wouldn't impact an IUI or implantation. It is a bummer your doctor gave you false expectations. You are completely within the realm of normal, and typically places recommend up to three IUIs before moving onto IVF like you are doing. (Some insurances evem require 6 IUIs before moving on, although that doesnt significantly improve pregnancy rates for folks that were unsuccessful the first few times.) IVF statistics are significantly higher than IUIs but also can take a few transfers to be successful. That is why they often recommend 2-3 embryos per live baby. Many luck out and are successful on the first try, but that is just luck. Edit: Since you have to pay for the sperm vials, I definitely think moving on to IVF after the third IUI makes perfect sense.

I couldn’t relate more. I had the same expectations with my IUI process as well. I was told the statistics before my first IUI, but was still given the impression that because of my age and everything else they factor in, that my chances were good. The 2nd unsuccessful IUI hit the hardest and the 3rd unsuccessful I kind of came to terms that it likely wasn’t going to work. I ended up having a hysteroscopy after that and was then told that the majority of patients have success on their next IUI. Unfortunately I wasn’t one of those patients and it was yet another hard hit for me because of the expectations I was given. I’m now in the IVF process, had my egg retrieval last week, and whether they were given to me or I created them myself, I fear my expectations having been too high yet again. I wish you the best of luck and hope you have a less stressful second half of the week!

Setting expectations, managing disappointments and still carrying hope is incredibly challenging during this process. (My 5th IUI also did not seem to work this time despite all my doctors telling me that I’m a perfect candidate; it is so confusing and heartbreaking.) I"m a SMBC in NOVA! My 3rd IUI worked for me to get my daughter. We had issues timing it tho as I would surge super fast and started before they could trigger me. For the cycle that got me her I went in the AM for monitoring and was told to trigger for IUI that night--and then IUI 2 days later, well that afternoon I took an OPK and it was positive (negative that AM) and we scrambled to move the IUI a day earlier--and here she is. She wouldn't be here if it wasn't for that OPK! Good luck! I've been trying for number 2 for a long time now--4IUIs and 5 FETs later and only miscarriages to show for it. I'm not giving up tho! Good luck!! I hope you get your + soon! Becoming a SMBC is literally the best thing I've ever done.

Hey! I had my second IUI on 11 of June too! One thing to keep in mind - if you are using frozen sperm, the chances are slightly lower, cause the swimmers dont live as long as the fresh ones once they've been put inside you (thought it's worth saying just so you dont think it's your body/fertilily stopping you from getting pregnant), but heaps of people still get pregnant using frozen sperm, dont give up!
